Giovanna's face flushed pink as she looked away. The best? I wouldn't say that. I'm far from. And... I'll listen to you anytime you need to talk. I can always find some way or another sympathize.

That term usually isn't meant to be so literal, Makoto laughed before looking down again. You're really nice, is what I meant... thanks a ton.

No need for thanks, unless you want me to leave? Giovanna suggested, gesturing to the steps of the pool.

No of course I don't want you to leave, Makoto said, smiling down to Giovanna. I'm just thanking you because that's how my mom taught me, he said with a soft chuckle.
Taji and Tempest appeared in the kitchen. At the table sat one of her siblings, Miyoko, eating a piece of cake. She smiled to the two, waving. Taji ignored her and clung to Tempest instead.

Oh, it was just the way you said it. I don't usually associate that sort of thanks with normal conversation; only with departures, Giovanna explained, smiling in return. But I do like being thanked, although I don't believe I did anything thank-worthy, she grinned.

Of course you did! Anytime anyone offers themself to be talked to by someone so young and naive deserves a ton of thanks, Makoto joked, kicking his feet, splashing water Giovanna's way.

Maybe, Giovanna started, attempting to block the water. Why do you keep splashing at me? she practically squealed.

Because I figure we're in a pool and we're both already wet, so it couldn't do any harm? Makoto laughed, splashing more her way.

It just seems so... Giovanna trailed off and looked to him. Childish. Maybe it's just me, and I'm an old woman and not used to it. She shrugged before grinning, splashing water at him in return. Not like much will get you. I think you're at an unfair advantage, sitting up there and all. She grinned wider, slowly moving a hand to grasp at one of his wrists. May I pull you in? Giovanna asked, wondering if she should ask him such an odd question.

Yes you may! Makoto laughed before leaning forward, to let it be easier for her to pull him in. I don't know, it is pretty childish, maybe I'm just the childish type, he laughed, smiling to her.

She laughed, softly pulling him into the water and quite accidently up against her. Oh, hi there! Giovanna blushed slightly before smiling warmly to him, not able to get herself to move away from him.

Makoto laughed softly, shaking his head as he bobbed in the water, moving his arms around a little bit. Hello there, Giovanna, he laughed, putting emphasis on her name.

H-hi, she replied nervously, finally able to muster up enough strength to take a few steps back. Sorry about that, I sort of froze. Giovanna looked into the water, noting for no particular reason how clear it was. Perhaps, she thought, it was in order to get him out of her head.

Makoto chuckled, shaking his head. Why are you sorry? There's no reason for you to be upset about anything, he said. I want you to stop apologizing so much.

Oh, I didn't realize I was apologizing so much. I'm sorry. Giovanna winced at her own words, shaking her head. Sorry! Oh! She covered her mouth, her face turning red.
