Hey, the Tau have pathfinders with Rail Rifles. I know they have the same range and pinning rules as a normal sniper rifle, but what's their strength and AP? I'd go off of the normal RailGun, if I thought my friends wouldn't through a violent temper tantrum. Any help? Because, I REALLY like snipers, and this is kinda hard, because my snipers don't have stats.

what does it mean, excluding Tau, that doesnt make sence to me?

Rulewise, because the Tau already have Kroot in thier codex. Fluffwise, because the Tau have an exclusive deal with most of the population of Pech, and these Kroot Mercs are supposed to be those companies and clans that didn't feel that joining up with the Tau Empire was in thier best interest.

And Ophi, until the new codex comes out and confirms or denies the rumor that the Tau have used some kind of mind control helmet on the Vespids, the Tau haven't done any enslaving. That's the Dark Eldar shtick. Tau are like a blend of Imperialist Britain and Communist Russia. They're great believers in "The Blue Man's Burden" and would rather extoll the virtues of the Greater Good and employ the local sentients in low ranking/dangerous jobs. Yay for communist propaganda and imperialism!

Amen *Rases Pulse Cabine*

Ay, mates. *Raises Pulse Rifle* So, I prefer range over pinning, okay?

whats this I hear of krrot being able to be used by other armies?I assume its some sort of chapter approved thing.

indeed. there's a chapter approved kroot mercenary list, which lets you build an all kroot army, or you can use them in other armies, excluding space marines, tau, necrons, tyranids, and witch hunters, i believe (maybe daemonhunters, too)

The Tau are an Empire. They invade and enslave races.
Kroot mercenaries are those that refuse to be enslaved. Like rebels, or terrorists.

Whoa! Not true! The Tau are an Empire. True. Communists, when you think about it, but it all works out. They do NOT invade and enslave races. Often, people like the Greater Good, and join the Tau. If you are starting a colony on a planet the Tau have claimed, they'll ask you to leave, and if you don't, they'll fight for it.
The Tau believe in the expression Speak softly but carry a big stick, and I tend to think of them as the gentlemen of the universe. There is NO invading and enslaving.
Kroot are not Rebels or Terrorists. They fight for any cause other then cash and new genetic material.

Now correct me if i am wrong here but i thought that under the Tau doctrine of the common good. If they encounter a world that refuses to become part of the common good i though they would destroy it.

But am i mistaken?

Nope. They will fight back and either prove they are better or kill em all.

i think i am the only one here who is actually building a kroot mercenary army!!!!!YAY...thats the way i like it, theres somethign extremly satisfying in saying "go ahead and set up your entire army, im not deploying everythign because all my units are infiltrating" it sends peopel for a loop if they have never seen you play before, its the greatest feeling ever....i LOVE psycological warfare. and on another note the tau are EVIL...and thats why i love them to. they enslave weaker races under punishmant of death...its all propaganda really.they do the whole "we promis you protection"...they just dont make ti public that they are protecting that particular race from the tau military...LOL.

Whare did you hear that? The Tau dont do that. If they find a race thats way too hard to talk into their force they launch attacks on em. Ie Orks

Thank you... It's VERY helpful. I don't mind it not being that strong-- I didn't even expect it to be.

And honor. That's why they're included in the codex in the first place.

Exactly. Anything that feeds off of war is just beyond their comprehension. The Tau do NO enslaving.... They have PERFECTED communism, which is something most people can't wrap their minds around, because of North Korea and Hitler.

History nitpick: Hitler was not a Communist, and in fact hated communists. Hence why he betrayed Stalin and attacked the Soviet Union. Your example works better with Mao Zedong, Stalin, or Kim-jong-il.

Oh, okay. Sorry, my history IS a bit off. Well, the point it, the Tau are communism when it works. The reason we always screw up is because we're human and greedy.

The Tau will screw it all up,they just need more time.
