Epic Fail Guy It looks like we lost Mob Up. Was that the rule where remnants of squads who lost morale checks ran until they hit another squad and then became a new unit?
If so, thats terrible, I loved the motley ork mobs that showed up by turn 4 or 5.

Im not too happy about the whole Deffgun thing with the lootas. The point was to have looted equipment. Now theyre a more competent shooting unit, which is nice, but I want that ork feel.
Any one know if loota's still have access to imperial transports?

With the new codex coming in January I'm seriously considering looking into an ork army. The old codex just had way to much wargear and crap for my tastes. I mainly want to play them just for the flavor biggrin They are the funniest race and even if I lose, at least I'm laughing at whatever ridiculous antics my boyz were up to.

The wargear and "crap" was a part of the flavor, including the ability to use imperial items. So far im not seeing rules for using IG or Marine tanks and guns in the book. If youre looking for humor play grots.

It's about time... stare The last time they updated orks was when I first started Warhammer....or maybe even a little before. xp Don't quite remember. It's been too long. xp
Though I'm a fantasy nut, I can't resist the lure of Space Orks. I've been putting off doing a 40k army, because I was under the impression that they'd be "updatin da boyz any sec now..." and buying models would be pointless with a new release up ahead. rolleyes
My hope is that they release a plastic warboss. That would be awesomeness-on-a-stick. eek

Is it the way everyon'es been saying it is? I mean, there aren't any major changes that really screw over Orks, right? I know we lost Choppas, which I can deal with, (Since I normally fight Guard and Tyranids anyway.)

A large part is based on new background fluff, regarding Brain Boyz who created the orks and how Orks can be so clever and stupid at the same time.
Universal Ork rules, unless mentioned otherwise at the unit entry are: Waaagh! - May be called once per turn during the shooting phase. This may not be called in the first turn though, as a proper Waaagh! needs to build up steam. All units with the Waaagh! rule gain the "fleet of foot" rule. If the unit rolls a 1 for the fleet rule, they move 1" and start fighting, one model taking a single wound.
Mob Rule! - Orks fight better in large mobs than alone. Orks may replace their normal Ld value with the number of their squad. If the number is 11 or higher then the squad counts as being fearless.
Furious Charge is gained by most Ork units.
Loads of new special characters though! Here's a list of all characters in the book. Note that some characters are marked with a *, meaning that they can only be taken as a squad upgrade and not as an independent model.
Ghazghkull Urug Thraka Kaptin Badrukk* - Freebooter Kaptin and Flash Git with a modified Ripper Gun that shoots plasma coils. Mad Dok Grotsnik Wazdakka Gutsmek - A mad biker Mek who wants to create a warp highway so he and his boyz can race from one end of the galaxy to the other. He rides the Bike of the Aporkalypse, which is more powerful (and even cooler-looking) than normal bikes Old Zogwort - Greatest Weirdboy of 'em all! He can turn enemies into squigs Boss Snikrot*, da Stalker - Leader of the Red Skull Kommandos Boss Zagstruk* - Leader of da Vulcha Squad, elite storm boyz and can execute his boyz like a umie kommissar when they fail a morale test
New stuff on units:
Tankbustas - They have the Glory Hog special rule, meaning that must always attempt to shoot at and/or assault enemy vehicles in their line of sight. If no vehicle is in range the boyz act as normal. They also have the Tankhammer, which is a S10 two-handed weapon in the assault phase. And last but not least, Bomb-squigs! These are a lot like the pigeon bombs of the Empire, only with a range of 18" and can attack your own units
Lootas now have Deffguns (str. 7 AP 4 Heavy D3), which are shoulder mounted heavy weapons. Each weapon fires D3 shots. But you only roll once for the whole unit per shooting phase. (so 10 Lootas on a D6 roll of 6 equals to 3 shots per Loota, meaning 30 shots)
Burna Boyz - Burnas count as flamers or can be used as power weapons in the assault phase.
Warbikes - Have a 4+ cover save due to the exhaust clouds that they throw up in their wake.
As for the Shokk Attack Gun (60", str. 2D6, AP 2, Ordnance 1, large blast) it is a warp powered weapon that sucks in Snotlings, puts them through the warp and shoots them back out. The misfire table has several good entries, including one where the Snotlings aren't fired, but instead the Mek is launched at the enemy.
And finally, some funny extracts from the book, to illustrate the point of Orks still being the funniest and cunningest race in the galaxy.
Inbound: "Dis is Nugrob da Slayer callin'. I got me boyz wiv me. Fort you lot might want to make a deal. You give us a thousand shootas each time we visit, and yer ain't got no worries, see?"
Governor Kubris: "We're not giving into your outrageous ultimatum - never!"
Inbound: "Shame about that, cos I got 'arf a dozen Dreadmobs and a couple of Gargants wiv me."
-Pause-
Kubris: "Let us have a few hours to reconsider."
Inbound: "Nah, I feel like lettin' out the Gargants after all, har har har!"
"Wot's faster than a warbuggy, more killy than a warbike and flies through da air like a bird? I got no bleedin' idea, but I'm gonna find out." - Kog da Flymek, pioneer of the Dethkopta
"Travellin' through space is boring. Well, boring unless da hulk yer on is full of dem gene-sneakers, or a base for da chaos lads wiv da spikes, or already has Boyz on it. Or if humie lootas come callin', that's always good fer a bit a sport. Or unless yer have a mutiny or two to pass da time, or unless strange fings start happenin', which dey usually do when yer out in da warp. One time we had some bloody great ugly fing come straight out of Weird Lugwort's 'ed! It butchered half da lads, that was pretty entertainin'. Come ter fink of it, space is a pretty good larf. And that's before yer find yerself a nice new world ta crush!" - Bigmaw, Ork Runtherd
"Wot, this? Naw, I've had this fer ages. Of course the paint's still wet, it's me favourite. Sell it to ya if ya like. One careful owner." - 'Fingaz' Rutzeg, Deathskull Loota
On Blood Axes: Blood Axes view the act of getting shot down before they have killed any of the enemy as a terrible waste of an opportunity, and so have adopted the practice of wearing camouflage.
[on fighting for the Imperium], but then every Ork can see the funny side of extorting weapons from human planets only to use them against their former owners.

The Big Mek with Shokk Gun is 15, not 18.
But that's still madly expensive.
