"It will indeed," Earendil agreed.

They visited with the two nekos for a while (Kaito was oddly absent) and after a small lunch, they headed back to the main house to prepare for the afternoon's expected celebrations.

"So what do we have to do now, Nana?" Andarien asked, looking up at Lin with Eon flopped comfortably over one of his shoulders.

"We're going to head back to the main house to see if anyone needs help setting up."

Though she knew very well since it was her family's idea they probably would say they had everything handled. Well that, and they were probably banned from the kitchen for the rest of the day.

"Setting up?" Andarien repeated, cocking his head in a slightly confused manner. "Like ... like setting tables and stuff?"

He had never seen anything set up beyond that for any of the celebrations/banquets he had been to, so he didn't know what else might need doing.

"Yes, mom thinks it would be wise to hold this outside in the garden out back," Lin replied, "Since even in the gathering room, it was still a bit crowded."

That and she suspected it might not just be the family who was coming, though she couldn't imagine who else would be.

"Garden?" Andarien perked up, and Eon, sensing the boy's rising excitement, lifted its head and pricked its ears forward. "A pretty garden like in Tor Karad?"

They'd spent quite a bit of time in that garden with Luthien. It was after all her favourite place - for reading, painting, whatever she felt like doing - and Andarien had really enjoyed getting to know her, as she had enjoyed getting to know him. And getting to spoil him.

Lin blinked, "Well.... it is a pretty garden, but I think most well kept gardens are pretty."

So she wasn't quite sure what to make of that question. That was generally the purpose of a garden, when they weren't growing their own food that is. However, the main house garden was that, meant to look pretty.

Andarien started skipping a bit with excitement, but Eon squealed and slid backwards off his shoulder. Only a quick-reflexed grab by Earendil saved the Eevee from hitting the ground.

"Sorry, Eon," Andarien sweated, turning and taking his Pokemon from his father.

Eon squeaked and squealed at Andarien, who winced slightly and kept apologizing.

Earendil was amused by the exchange, and he chuckled quietly to himself. "I think he'll remember to be more careful from now on," he confided quietly to Lin.

Lin smiled and tried not to laugh at that. It was interesting now, realizing exactly how intelligent Eon was, how much one could understand by watching the two interact with each other.

"Indeed," she nodded.

She led them around the back way instead of taking them into the house. Since she was sure people were setting up already. The main house garden had the largest 'pond' out of anywhere else on the grounds. There was even a gazebo out in the middle of it with stepping stones that led to the centre. It was the centre piece of the whole garden, and while not as expansion as any of the palace gardens they had been to, it was still a large garden.

Though the plots closest to the manor had plants meant to be eaten (which mean it was mainly empty since it was spring). However the small cherry and apple trees were already in full bloom and spreading their tiny white and pink flowers everywhere. It was often joked that even in spring, it looked like it snowed.

Earendil was impressed with the garden. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but something reminiscent of the gazebo garden in Amon Darthir was probably not quite it.

"It's beautiful out here," he said, looking around to take all of it in.

Andarien set Eon on the ground and, grinning, started running towards the gazebo. It looked comfy and cozy in there, and he had not seen a gazebo before. Eon chased after him, catching up quickly despite its short legs.

Earendil chuckled at the two of them, then turned back to Lin. "So, should we find your mother and see if they need help with anything?"

"Careful!" Lin shouted after the two, "The water is deep!"

Of course it had to be deep to fit in four mers. Even though only three of them were full grown, from head to tail they were actually quite large.

Once she was sure the two weren't going to slip and fall in she motioned to the house.

"They're probably close to the back door getting the tables and chairs out."

Earendil watched Andarien and Eon for a moment before he joined Lin and the others in setting up for Andarien`s birthday celebration. It was a lot of work, but he was used to that, and eventually they were ready.

Andarien and Eon had found Jair in the waterway, and Andarien was kept busy during it all by telling Jair stories of his family`s travels throughout the Four Lands - or at least, what he could remember of it (which was admittedly not much, all things considered).

For a party that had been decided on the spot, it was very well planned out. Of course, it helped that there was a small army (family) to help plan and put together everything.

The long food table set up closest to the back door was filled with bite sized snacks. Little sandwiches filled with cucumber, ham or salmon, and raw vegetables with savory dips. As well as buns with all sorts of fillings in them. Traditionally, like many Gaians, they always had a cake which would be the centre piece of the party.

However, Triton found himself scratching his head because his nephew didn't like things that were too sweet. So instead of a cake, he made apple cupcakes with a dash of maple in the batter. Instead of icing on the cupcakes he dusted the image of gears using a bit of powder sugar.

There wasn't a present table, everyone agreed that a present would be given to Andarien by Kara and Donovan on behalf of the family, because everyone knew that going away gifts were in the offing anyways at the end of the week. No one knew what it was, except Kali of course, but that wasn't a surprise.

And, Lin still had that bag box that she had brought with Earendil, with all the tinkering stuff.

By the time Andarien turned his attention away from his cousin, he was astonished to see the transformation that had taken place in the garden. Other than the very basics, everything was very different.

"Wow!" he exclaimed, his eyes wide as he ran around (carefully) with Eon in tow. He looked around for his parents. "Nana! Ada! Where are you?"

He spotted Earendil at one of the tables and grinned. He dashed over to him and climbed up into his lap. "Ada, look!" he exclaimed, pointing around at everything. "Look at everything!"

Earendil laughed. "Yes, yes. All this for you. Now come, your mother will be here in a moment, she's just gone to get something."

He didn't know if there was some order to the celebration or what, so he was mostly waiting for Lin to let him know.

Lin came back down with a box like bag over one shoulder. It was the bag that had been brought and runed for Andarien, and his birthday party seemed like a good place to give it to him.

The timing was perfect too as others began to filter into the garden. All from the grounds, with the exception of Mi and Long who showed up with a wooden box. Apparently they had heard about the party from someone (probably Kara).

"Hey!" she waved at Earendil and by extension Andarien.

She wasn't quite sure where Miyuki went to, probably talking to one of her cousins.

Andarien's head whipped around when he heard Lin's voice and he waved at her with both hands, sending Eon hiding under Earendil's chair for safety.

"Nana! Nana!" he bubbled excitedly. "Look at everything! There's so much! And-"

He stopped short when he spotted the item on her shoulder. "Hey, what's that?" he asked curiously, calmer now as he slid down from Earendil's knee to see what his mother had brought.
