Higher caliber also means the gun would fire a little more slowly, thus raising the chance for escape.
At least, I'm pretty sure it does...

You are correct. Unless the gun is meant to fire those rounds quickly. Best bet, use a sub-machine gun.

Well, technically, it's not like the trigger is harder to pull or the bullet flies significantly slower on a higher cal. It's pretty much about the person's strength and how they're able to handle the recoil.
But it's not even about the caliber. I mean, a shot in the leg with a .44 isn't gonna kill Wesker, but I'm sure a 9mm in the head would do it.

Yes, it's all about the recoil. But still, I doubt even the Beefy Chris Redfield of Doom would be able to fire off a .357 the same way I could fire a 9mm.

Well, to be fair, Chris and Billy didn't have a problem with .357 in-game. But canonically, I think they wouldn't be able to fire a .357 as fast as they did.
The rate at which Leon fired his Desert Eagle would be a lot more realistic.

I do believe it is called the "Killer 7". Which is a WAY uber cool name for a Magnum.
Point taken, though.

No, I was talking about Desert Eagle in RE2.

Ah yes... How silly of me. I was looking for an excuse to make fun of the gun names in 4.
Clearly I was owned.

Killer 7 wasn't a desert eagle though. It looked more like a Colt Government model Series 80 .45ACP

I know that... I jumped the gun, pun intended.
I'll be interested to see how they portray the Wekser and Chris rivalry in 5.

I'm just worried that the Merchant system will be back and the guns are gonna have cheap names too. "You picked up the Obliterator! Will you equip this handgun?"

Hell, why don't we give the Zombies (for lack of a better term) guns and just label it another Half-Life Mod.

Why can I see that happening? Make RE a FPS.

Well, that's how it goes. "Our statistics tell us that First Person Shooters have been very popular in the past year. Let's not do something different, but fall in line and make RE a first person shooter too."
