"Apparently people had been looking for you for a while," Lin replied wryly, "But gave up the first time, we're the second time, but for completely different reasons."
It seemed like they were in luck seeing as no one else could find him before this.

Shiro thought about it, and thought about it again, and thought about it some more. But for the life of him, he couldn't figure out what the heck might be going on.
"Huh?"
Starr grinned at him and ran forward, grabbing his hand and tugging him back towards the stairs up. "Come on, you'll see!" she exclaimed.

Probably just as well, Lin thought to herself as she followed Shiro and Starr back up. Without having to talk to Haldia at least he wouldn't get any bad first impressions without meeting the person in question.
"We have a guest, her name is Alena and is the historian for the Sky Elves, she's also willing to let you see her library," Lin explained, "She's in the process or was of explaining the history of the island. Oh and she speaks Common Elvish and Ancient Tongue only as a heads up."

"Library?" Shiro repeated, his eyes gleaming. He was silent, but it was clear from his eyes that he was purring inside, and he slipped his arm out of Starr's grasp and ran ahead.
"She prefers elvish!" Starr called after him, just in case.
"Uh huh ..."
One more flight of stairs, and he was up on deck.
"Oi!" He shivered in the cold air. "Ah ... okay, that was a bit of a surprise."

Lin chuckled as she hurried to meet Shiro up on deck, she should have known that would have gotten his attention quickly. She felt the cold air hit her, but she was still warm from that drink, it hadn't been that long after all since she had returned to the ship. How strange she thought, she didn't know of any drink back home could do that.
Well there was alcohol or so some people claimed but Vincent had once told her that while it made people feel more comfortable in the cold, if you were at risk at being frozen to death alcohol was the last thing you'd want to drink.
"Well that got your attention," she told him once she caught up with him.

Shiro rubbed his arms. "You can say that again," he muttered. He turned to Starr. "Would you mind grabbing my jacket from my quarters?" he asked her.
Starr nodded. "Be right back."
Shiro blew into his hands to warm them up and then rubbed them together. He turned to look at the stranger who was still chatting with Arwen and Roydon. "Is that her?" he asked. He tilted his head slightly. "She reminds me of the Westland Elves ... but ... different ..."

"Not surprisingly," Lin murmured, "The Sky Elves were originally Westland Elves, but they never agreed with the separation, so they separated themselves from the other Westlanders, sailed and found this island."
In her own indirect way she said yes to Shiro's question but explaining why Alena would have reminded him of a Westlander.

"Sky Elves," Shiro murmured. "So they ride the rocs, then ... amazing ..."
He started forward, watching the woman thoughtfully, trying to read her before hearing her speak. He couldn't help but wonder at the way she stood, the way she spoke. Historian she may be, but the way she carried herself showed she was also someone who was used to being waited on rather than waiting on others.

"Yea... it's a boon to them really especially since the island is overrunned by creatures called gnomes," Lin murmured softly, "That's in part why things were so rough when Haldia and Earendil had such a hard time. Not that it's a very good excuse...."
Lin knew very well Alena hadn't been impressed with the choice to be suspicious to the point where the two weren't trusted at all.
"But, the culture here is a complete 180 from what we experienced on the island. Shortly after they finished settling they've bee attacked and been attacked ever since."

"Mm." Shiro nodded slowly, thoughtfully, then strode forward and held his hand out to Alena. "Shiro Aldrich Winters, pleased to meet you," he grinned at her. "And you are?"
Alena stared at Shiro, her green eyes wide with surprise as she looked at him, and she was stunned into silence.
Arwen smiled. "Shiro, Alena, royal historian, tutor, and advisor to his majesty, King Arannel of the Sky Elves, and to his son, First sola Aethos, ruler in his absence."

Lin supposed that Shiro's looks was more surprising than her own, after all he had bat wings, cat ears and a tail to boot. Yea, she could see why Alena would be stunned. She chuckled a bit watching the two.

Alena still couldn't speak, and Shiro chuckled softly and explained what he was. While he was explaining, Starr came on deck with his jacket, and he slipped it on and sighed into the warmth. "Much better," he purred.
"Shiro," Alena asked suddenly, "Lady Arwen has told me much about the people on this ship, but I am afraid I do not recall ... what is your part on this journey?"
Shiro grinned cattily. "I'm not on any commission or anything like that, I just came along for the adventure," he said good-naturedly. "On the other hand, collecting knowledge is my hobby, and I've been told that you have quite the library ..."
Alena nodded and smiled faintly, finally regaining her composure. "We do," she murmured, "and yes, you are welcome to it. But first ..." She hesitated. "I must speak with Haldia, the young woman who came to visit us yesterday and was treated so terribly." She glanced at Arwen and Roydon. "Would that be possible?"

"She's still with Celeb?" Lin inquired.
She knew that Haldia was having a hard time of it. She was glad that Celeb was willing to stay with Haldia after that rough start all those months ago.

Arwen nodded at Lin. "He hasn't left her side."
Leyenda turned to Alena. "My brother is sitting with her in her quarters," she explained softly. "But if you would like, I can take you to them. I know this is important to you, and it would mean a lot to her, I know."
Alena smiled at Leyenda. "Your brother must be a good man."
Leyenda giggled. "Boy, actually. He's only seven years old."

"He's a really good boy," Lin grinned.
Celeb had adapted to a lot since they had left the Four Lands. Not many people she thought could say that about someone as young as him. Especially when his sister had suddenly married, sure it was touch and go at first but he adored Kelirahc now too.
