"Yeah it is odd around here," the younger girl sighed. Even disregarding the fact that everyone who lived here was, in some way, differant from rest of the world, this mansion was still the oddest little place to her. The overall sterileness made her feel like she was constantly being watched like a lab rat. Suddently realizing that there were at least two very powerful telepaths in the vicinity, she was probably right in that notion.

"Sure," she said in responce to Regina, "anywhere besides this place sounds good to me." Remembering the pile of books in her hands she put them down on a desk just inside the library doors before turning back to regina, the smile creeping back into her face again, "So, off we go then?"

Suddently feeling even more anxious to get out of this place Victoria smiled again as the two of them exited the mansion and headed for the garage. In the garage there were several "free range" cars for the sudents to use at their leisure (within reason of course). Since everyone seemed to be out today they had a choice between a creepy looking station wagon and a army green jeep. Although neither of them were exactly "hot" looking, the jeep won the contest by far.

"So," she said indicated the keys in the ignition,"do you wanna drive or should I?"

To Victoria relaxing in the passenger seat as Regina drove, time flew by and before the two of them knew it they had arrived at Bayville mall. Since it was a school day for the "normal" kids it was practically desserted by the time the two mutant girls arrived there. Yes, Victoria thought to herself, an empty mall...perfect recipe for an afternoon in heaven.

After Regina parked and turned off the jeep, Victoria hopped out of the jeep and looked up at the vast mall, her troubles already floating away. "So," she said to her new friend, "any specific place you wanna blow your cash first?"

John looked at the guy on the floor, and then back at Silas. "Nice shot man," he said to Silas. John rasied the flames in the parking garage once again. "Now lets finish this," He said with a grin on his face...but it was whiped away when Noko stood in front of him. "What???" he asked. She didn't say nothing, just kept staring him in the eye. John sighed. 'You've always got to ruin my fun don't you," he said to her as he lowered the fire and burned it out.

"It wouldn't have been much fun if one of the cars blew up and killed one of us," she said, "And if I remember correctly you said you were gonna get me a new car for the one you destroyed. So lets get it. Now"

"Party pooper," John muttered as he turned around and motioned for Silas and Noko to follow him. Walking up to Gen he said. "Come on, we've got to get Noko her car." He took one of the two bags to lighten her load and they started off to a car dealership.

"Remind me why I date you," Noko muttered as she led the way to the dealership. She'd said low but John was close enough to hear it. And he new she wanted him to hear it.

John caught up with Noko, seeing as she was leading the way, and fell into step with her. "To answer your question it's simple. Because You love me and I love you. You had your proof just a second ago. If someone else had tried to tell me to put out the fire I'd have laughed in their face, yet you get me to do it without a single word. You're the only person who could get away with doin just about anything to me without me attacking you in return. That my proof of love to you. You're the only person who basically has me under their control. As for why you love me, I don't know. I usually end up scaring girls away. All I know is that I'm happy that you are dating me." John looked up and saw that they'd reached the dealership. He looked at Noko. "I hope I gave you and idea for you question," he said to her, "Now let's go buy you a car"

"Hot Topic,!" Victoria said, somewhat surprised, "you've just named my favorite store in the entire world." It was ture, at first glance Regina didn't look like the Hot Topic type, but hen again neither did Victoria. Guess that was yet another thing the two of them had in common.

At Regina's mention of "food" Victoria realized that due to andering around in the library for aimless hours, she hadn't eating anything for a while no and the rumbling in her belly was starting to get to her. "Yes, food," she said nodding toward the vendor filled food court, "very good idea."

John waited for Noko to say something but knew she wouldn't . "I'm glad only these three are around," he thought to himself. "Hopefully nothing else will happen within the next five seconds to piss me off. They'll really think I'm crazy if the see me switch from Pyromaniac, to boyfriend, and back to Pyromaniac within 30mins.... Oh well, ******** it. If they don't realize how crazy I am now, they'll know soon enough."

"PT Cruiser" Noko said.

John looked up. Without him realizing it, they'd come to the dealership. He looked at the car Noko was pointing at, and frowned. "Purple???" he thought to himself. "Aww come on, couldn't she have choosen that red one over in the corner?" He stared at the red car for a while and went to take a better look at it. The more he looked at it the more he wanted it. He sighed. "Well if I'm going to get this one I'll have to put it on my wish list.... looks like I'm gonna have to rob another bank... oh well, more fun for me!!" he thought as an evil grin came over his face. He turned around and walked up to Noko who was still staring at the Purple PT Cruiser. "I take it you want this one?"

"PT..." was all she could say in reply

John chuckled at Noko and went to looke for a dealer. Finding the guy he went up to him and said "Hi, I'd like to buy the Purple PT Cruiser over there"

The dealer stared at him. "Do you have any credit?" the guy finally asked him.

"Nope," John said, "but I've got the next best thing." He held up the bag on money. The dealer's face lit up, and he led John to a desk. And ten menitues later, John went over around and rounded up everyone. He found Noko still staring at the car. "Come on girl, we can't stay here all day." He said. He dragged her away from the car and led her outside.

"John," she snapped, "You said you were gonna replace my car"

"And I am," John said. He pointed as a purple PT Cruiser pulled up in front of them. The guy stepped out and handed them the keys. Noko looked up at him. "What? You didn't think they'd give us the floor model one did you?" he asked. "Now are you gonna snap out of it and get behind the wheel or am I gonna have to drive?"

Gen laughed at the name. "I'm not sure if the real, well, in a sense, Rumil would appreciate having a purple car named after him..."

She enjoyed the Lord of the Rings books as much as anyone, but she just couldn't imagine an elf appreciating the color purple.


Regina grinned and headed to the first place that they could find for the food. She was starved and anything at that point would do for a fix. Once they got something to eat, she and Victoria sat and talked at a table for a while. It was nice to get out and talk to someone. Though she couldn't wait to get into Hot Topic and do some serious shopping. A credit card for the assisstants because they were forbidden to get jobs outside of the institute, would come in quite handy.
