Barbara stared with her mouth hanging open for a moment as she continued down the hallway, "Wow, these Hydra guys must really suck. Just over here on our left is a fully stocked large kitchen."

"Like you wouldn't believe..." X23 muttered, shaking her head as she had a brief flashback to her "childhood" in HYDRA. "I... I'm... Sorry, for... acting the way I have been. I'm just... I-I dunno."

Barbara looked up at the young mutant thoughfully a moment before she spoke what have been on her mind recently, "I... used to be a gymnast... and I was a costumed hero... Before a maniac shot me in the stomach. The bullet nicked the L1 lumbar, and paralyzed me from the waist down. I can't escape my 'prison,' but you can and have yours. Make the most of it. You can define yourself. It is entirely up to you."

Barbara just looked at X23 unfazed, "So, you got away from the guys who were trying to use you. You have every right to be mad, but you can change your circumstances. But being angry at people who had nothing to do with those Hydra guys, doesn't help. You can make friends, you just have to let people in. And no, I'm not saying trust just anyone. You have the instincts to tell who you can trust. I want to help you, okay?"

"You say it like it's simple, like it's easy-- I bet you don't know anyone that's got it as bad I as do! How many other people can you say you've met that're like me? Alone? They can't relate to anyone? They're... they can't... No family, or... or friends..."
Her words came out as less coherent as she closed her eyes and tried to keep herself from crying... but it was difficult.

Still unfazed, Barbara responds, "Actually, I do. He lost his family to the violence of Gotham City, and he has been constantly fighting a war against crime there. In many resepcts, Batman is alone. When I had become Batgirl, this man took me under his wing and trained me to fight crime."

X23 was speechless. Her mind flashed back to her time with HYDRA: A memory which featured her alone and cold in a white room with freezing temperatures... No-one cared about her there... and if they even showed a little affection, she knew it wasn't real. It never was. But now...
"W-why... Why are you doing this?" she asked, trying and failing to sound suspicious and accusatory. "Nobody has ever... Ever cared about me..." she said, her voice cracking as she once again fought the urge to cry. She couldn't fathom the simple idea that people could simply be compassionate and not ask for anything upon helping others-- especially her.

Kon touched back down on the ground near the others, watching cautiously as the hot-tempered girl 'X23' left with Oracle.... O was right, they did need to give her a new nickname.
Rebuilding the institute. That sounded like something Conner could definitely lend a hand too. Superboy had almost forgot about discovering Rogue's crush on him as she leaned against him.
"Thanks..."
Kon turned his head to make eye contact with Rogue, unclear on what to think of all that had happened so far. He was upset with what had happened at the same time... at the same time, it appeared she was helped by Raven...
"Em- I... should check back at the Tower, too..."
Speaking of rebuilding.... he didn't know what the plan was for the destroyed San Fransisco Tower. The bunker was definitely in tact... but in this kind of world, would it be a mistake to build it back up again? There was too much to think about at this moment.
Tim looked at Gar and nodded as he used the connection through his helmet to link to Kai. He responded back-
"Alright, I'll relay that to Des.... and, there's something here I can help with, so I might not make it to Gotham for a while-...wait... Bart?"
Tim paused, and looked over to the others standing by. There goes another sleepless night for him.... but... Impulse? He'd never heard of a Flash Girl before, but of course he'd been meeting so many people over the last few days.
"Nightshade, Red Cardinal's requesting a portal from the cave to here. "

Nightshade nodded at Robin's request, "One portal coming up," then under his breath, "God, I feel like a taxi service."
As the dark portal forms, the veteran vigilante chuckles slightly.

Kai answered her comm.
"Thanks Robin. Impulse and Flash girl will be there. And... Bart? of course it's Bart, who else would it be? Psh-- Bart is Kid Flash, this is a new impulse."
She replied sarcastically at first then came back with a smart alick remark.
"She is Flash's niece, and Flash girl is Impulse's sister. But I got to go k, I have to deal with some crime here in Gotham since some non-gothamites might need my help for finding this rogue Batman..."
((And yes... Des is a taxi service... One which I had for school B/ Too bad I don't know des in real life))

Flash's nieces? Tim didn't know any of the Flashes had brothers or sisters... they had to be from a verse closer to where RC was from, especially if she knew this in the little time he had seperated from Kai and Alfred...
"So we're getting two Flashes."
He looked up, seeing that he and his comm link had drawn the attention of at least Superboy. Kon probably heard everything Tim said and heard, and the super's next words confirmed it.
"I didn't know the Flash had nieces."
Kon looked at Tim, processing that thought thoroughly.

Babs simply shrugged, "I just do. You could say quite a bit of my dad rubs off on me. All though technically it's my uncle. My real mom and dad died in a car wreck. I've .... had a habit of ... adopting people."
