Marshall, against his better judgement, found himself wandering around the jungle, this time trying to make sure he didn't step on any Dragon's tails. After talking to Gaius the night prior however really took the edge off exploration. Coming up on a small river, he couldn't help but be amazed. It looked like it was pulled from a National Geographic magazine!
Before he could enjoy the view, however, he heard a stange whistling sound from down-stream. Looking in the direction of the sound, he saw some thing that definatly qualified as the most peculiar thing the 21 year old man had seen. A shark-like creature, whistling through his teeth, with the remnants of a mo-hawk on his head and occupying himself by picking up random things.
...Strange.

Alec continued kicking at the underbrush until he found something looking remotely similar to beef jerky, quickly stooping down to scoop it up. As he raised his head however, a glint of colour caught his dark eyes and the irish boy found himself staring. Who the hell is that? He thought to himself, boldly deciding that he wasn't much of a threat either way.
"...Ay!" He called out from down the bank of the river, casually leaning up against a nearby tree. Grabbing the jerky he'd just found off of the floor, he bit into it only to find that it was only a hunk of gummy bark. "BLEH." He swat and wrinkled his muzzle, tossing it into the water in hopes that the stranger hadn't noticed.

Sadly, Marshall DID notice the shark-boy take a bite out of the bark and spit it out. Not the best table manners, but hell, he WAS a shark after all...But why was he brown and...were those LEAVES growing out of his wrist? What the hell was he turning into?!
This island will NEVER cease to amaze me...
"Um...Yo. Name's Marshall. Yours?" Marshall asked, raising one hand in a "hello" fashion.

He noticed the odd expression on Marshall's face and assumed it was an unconscious reaction to the boy's looks, given that bark-eating wouldn't exactly be considered an oddity in that place. Hell, he knew people who ate stranger things. So he's a newcomer afterall. The teen mused, going so far as to give a toothy smirk. "Alec.... Alec Derring."
Slumping over to the riverside, he roughly flopped down onto his rear while letting his legs slip into the coursing water. "Ye new 'ere?" He craned his neck to the side, gesturing to silently offer a seat. It was about time another visitor passed by, he was starting to get lonely again.

Marshall nodded as he took a seat next to the fish-boy. "Yeah, I've only been here...I dunno. I think its been less than a week or so. Pretty damn unreal, eh?" Marshall said with a shrug. He wasn't really 'scared' by any ones appearance yet. Zach was creepy and Nita was shocking, but as he figured it he would look like them soon enough.
"Oh, yeah, Nita told me about you. You're turning into a Shark, right?...Though I've never heard of a shark with leaves."

Alec chuffed a laugh and kicked at a leaf on the water's surface as it drifted past his foot. "Ye, neitheh 'ave I."
The boy's comment drew his attention to the awkward foliage that seemed to be sprouting from his extremities, causing him to begin his obsessive habit of picking at them as he spoke. "A-ha..." He suddenly chuckled, "So ye met me fuzz neighbeh al'readeh? Spreadin gossips 'bout me while 'am free o' th'coup." He snorted amusedly, enjoying his own wit. It'd been awhile since he'd seen the panda girl and he genuinely wondered how she was, unfortunately feeling too out of place to ask. Besides, he'd never be caught showing concern for that fur-head. It was just how things were.
"Aneh a'dea wha' ye gon' be sho' wi'?" Turning to Marshall with interest, he entertained the idea that he'd be able to guess somehow.

Marshall shrugged, realising that he never really gave it any thought. I mean, he knew he was going to turn into SOME thing, but what that Some Thing was seemed to have escaped him.
"I'm not really sure...With my luck I'll be turned into some thing weird...Like...I dunnno...A leach-dog-bunny hybrid. Now THAT would suck." Marshall said as he took off his cheap sandles, putting his feet in the water.

Alec paused a moment to attempt visualizing the monstrosity Marshall had thought up, his expression clearly stating that he'd succeeded fairly well. "Ugh! Tha'd be 'orrible." The teen gave a laugh and stared at the river, suddenly looking as if he was considering hopping into the water for a light swim. "Enjoyin' ye stay so far, uh?" He asked honestly but tried not to sound condescending. Might as well help the kid vent than try and bullshit about how 'lovely' the whole situation was.

"Ehhh I can't complain. I've met some nice people...Though...Its kind of strange. I'm still kind of having a problem believing this is happening. Like, this is all some sort of elaborate prank. I know its not, though, I mean..." Marshall took a meaningful glance down at Alec's leaves, "I can't deny whats happening. That'd just be stupid."
Marshall kicked some water, looking down at it with a somber look on his face. He didn't even tell Gaius this, so why was he telling this complete stranger?

Alec seemed to finally make up his mind as he hopped into the water with ease. Ever since his "punishment" had come into play the sharkboy realized he felt a lot safer in the river, spending almost half his time swimming when he wasn't looking for food. "Ye, a' know wha' ye mean." He turned himself around so that he could tread water and still speak to Marshall. "A' thin' i' onleh 'its ye afteh ye first change."
He recalled his own experiences, his jaw almost aching on cue. Thankfully he wouldn't be able to see him shudder while he swam. "Ye'll be alrigh' though." The teen commented after a brief pause, almost shocked at his own voice. How could he say that, after everything that'd happened to him? It sounded so natural though...

"Yeah, I know...I mean, like I told Gaius...At least I'm not goin' it alone, right?" Marshall said with a smile. Though the thought was conforting, it still didn't remove that sense of unease he felt. No matter how relaxed or use to the idea he got, he couldn't forget the fact that he had a family back home that was probably mourning his death. And a job he'd never get to finish. And a web-comic that'll forever tell his fans that he went on a vacation.
It was a major buzz-kill.
"So...Whadiya think I'll be turning into?"

He rolled onto his back and let the current gently push him a few feet away before realigning himself, scrutinizingly staring the guy up and down. "A tur'le." The sharkboy gave a toothy grin of satisfaction at his choice. He sure seemed stumpy enough?

Marshall glared at the swimming shark-boy, kicking some water at him. It wouldn't do any thing, being a Fish and all, but even still, it relieved some tension.
"A turtle?! Why would I be a freakin' turtle?!"

Alec stared back as Marshall threw a fit, somewhat confused by the response but otherwise amused at how worked up he was getting. "Wha?" He choked out a laugh just as the splash hit his nose. Righting himself, he now began wading back and forth along the shore as he attempted to explain his decision without laughing too hard. "Ye kindeh look like 'un! Kindeh... sho'... slow.... stumpeh?"

"STUMPY??!! HOW THE HELL AM I STUMPY, BARNICLE BRAIN!?" Marshall demanded, leaning over to keep eye-contact with the fish boy. He threw some more water in his face, finding that this was the only way to really get any revenge on him.
Even though his voice sounded angry...He was actually having fun, in a strange way.
