"Hello, Lin," the fighter grinned. "Nice to finally meet you properly. Our first meeting was rather rushed, wasn't it? Though I've heard quite a bit about you from Elros."

He had been wanting to meet with her, but this had been his first chance: he was often asked to take the shifts during odd hours, and he often slept during the day.

But he loved children.

"Oh, indeed," Celeborn nodded. "I don't believe he's ever spent so much time with a child before, as old as he is, and he's intrigued. Besides, he likes to learn all that he can, and you are quite new to him. Then there's also the fact that he's quite fond of you."

He grinned.

"As for me, you remind me of my own little girl ... back when she was little ... though I have to admit, she was never quite as little as you are."

Celeborn chuckled. "It's true," he agreed. "My little girl was twice as big as you when she was born, and right away she was growing so quickly already ..."

A wistful look flitted across his face, but he shook it off quickly and smiled at Lin.

"So, what were you doing in the barracks?" he asked cheerfully. "Off to visit Elros again?"

"Trust me," Celeborn grinned, winking at Lin, "Halmir gets distracted so often it's amazing that he ever gets any work done. Even without you there to distract him."

He chuckled. "Well anyways, you've found me, would you like to do something? We could go somewhere, or I could answer questions, or if there's something you'd like to hear about, someone you'd like to know about ... what would you like to do?"

Celeborn grinned and gave her the thumbs up.

"Anything," he nodded.

After all, if he wasn't comfortable with a question, he could simply choose not to answer, couldn't he? And really, what sort of uncomfortable question could she possibly ask?

Celeborn reached up with one hand and ran his finger along the lines of his tattoo.

"This?" he grinned. "I found it in my wife's garden, and my daughter pressed it so tightly against my neck that the image of it never went away."

Then he burst out laughing. "No, no," he chuckled. "It's a tattoo. It means I changed the color of my skin so that it's black in those places. People only get tattoos that mean something. In my case it identifies me to people who don't know me, but who know of me."

"I didn't," Celeborn replied, "I had someone else do it. What they do is they take a dye and put it underneath your skin, so that it changes the colour of your skin from its origin, that way the tattoo doesn't fade."

He paused. "It sort of hurts when they do it, but within a few weeks you don't notice anything anymore. It's just like any other part of your body."
