Observe my stolen logic, if you will. It is taken from another situation, but I believe it applies here.

Guilds take from the general posting population, and they are not popular even amung their members.

They suck out 20k and then atrophy. The posters lose love for the guild and ultimatley a sliver of love for Gaia.

Guilds are bad for the forum as a whole, I fear.
