Not to cut you down, Stray, but you were both being childish. If you didn't want to get dragged down in an argument, all you had to do was drop the argument and talk about something else. Eric can be very argumentative, and sometimes the only way to get him to stop is to stop your side of the argument.

I have broken my left hand in a bicycle accident. My typing ability is going to suffer, but hopefully not the quality. While it may not have been the whole hand, my left hand is even more useless than it usually is...

I don't believe in just dropping an argument. If you just drop something then nothing gets resolved. Everything remains up in the air and it just becomes one continuous argument. Whereas, if you see an argument to its conclusion then everyone involved gets out all that they want to say and there's no leftover feelings that could carry over into another discussion or into anyone's personal lives.

That's why I feel that just saying someone should stop arguing is just a hindrance. If someone wanted to act as a mediator then that's understandable, but just saying that an argument is childish or that the involved parties should stop doesn't actually do anything to help stop the argument.

I won't claim to be completely without blame though. I have tried to end arguments between Eric and myself before. He declared it his victory and was so satisfied with himself that I decided I just couldn't let that happen again. As a matter of fact, it happened again this time after I decided the whole thing was silly and said I'd just play Match how I wanted. That was going to be my final word.

And then he decided that I was the one being thick and ended his reply with, of all things, 'Good day, sir', which is just a thinly veiled way of saying 'you lose'. If there was anything to mark the beginning of my own descent into childishness then it's that. That just pissed me off.

I'm sorry, Slag.... that really sucks. You don't have to reply to me at all, I just still needed to vent a little and I don't really have anyone to vent to right now.

Additionally....

Hi, lurky Haur.

Dude, I understand entirely childish arguments. Yes, there's the possibility that if you drop the argument too soon then it may carry over to something else, but on the other side of the coin, if you finish it, you could do some real damage to a relationship. If you find yourself slipping into a black period, find some way to vent your frustration. If I'm online I'll be more than happy to talk to you...

This is not in any way, shape or form an attack on Eric as a person and a peer, I've found that he has an amazing wealth of knowledge that comes from his over-analysis of everything. He argues with me a lot, but I try not to take as a personal affront.

Thank you, Haur, but I think I'm good. XP I'm working on a surprise for one of our fellow rpers right now.

Thanks, Slag. It's just one of those things, I guess. I'm trying to handle things better. I want to handle things better.

Good point in that Slag, is the main reason I was so heavily against Blackest Night before I read it is to simply put it... I hate seeing heroes die... nothing against zombies... just don't like seeing heroes die.

I've been dealing with the same problem, just like you most likely have, my whole life. I have never liked being on the losing side of an argument and I get offended very easily, even if there was really nothing malicious intended in a given statement.

I realise that, but if it means more emotional growth and story for the character, I'm all for it.

Its still weird for me to watch Justice League and see Stargirl only to come back here and remember she's dead... *sniff* so much potential.

Nightmare called out from his room "F*CK YOU!!!"

Sorry, I thought you were asleep.

And haven't you grown since then, Nightmare? If she had lived, do you think your life would be the same as it is right now? Do you think your life would be better in any way?

*ponders* I guess the only thing that would've changed if she was still alive is his thirst for vengeance against Bane... Oh boy he's going to flip when word spreads through the Watchtower that Batman has Bane working for him.

That's good for story. We should probably get together and talk about what's going to happen should they meet...
