Mitsu opened her eyes in time to see another Flamethrower coming her way. Once more karri was blasted with the intense heat. Burn marks and black scorches were now visible upon her body. Even with the level advantage the Torkoal was doing quite a bit of damage. "Gah! Karri! Wake up!" Mitsu shouted again. Still there was no success. Her hand tightened around the Pokeball in her hand. If she had sent out Nightmare from the start the battle would have been over in a matter of minutes. On, and on, and on the Pokemon slept. If Karri didn't wake up, it'd most likely be the end for her within the next attack or two.

Casimir uttered a growl, feeling some of the adrenalin he'd gathered slipping away. It was of little consequence though; he wasn't going to give in to the oozing pile of filth before him.

Kasiya smiled a little, things were looking grim for Muk. "Finish him off, Casimir! Give it your best slash attack!"

Another low, feral growl escaped the Dark-type's throat and he charged forward, lowering his head and taking the Sludge Bomb to the back. He was far from finished yet, however, shrugging off the slime that dripped from his body as he leapt up, slashing away with both sets of claws on his front paws, as well as the curved horn protruding from the side of his head. His relentless attack completed, the Absol trotted away from the Muk, his crimson eyes never leaving his opponent as he took his position by Kasiya once more.

Sorry to do this, Mitsu, Flannery grit her teeth, somehow knowing that even if she and Torque could take the Gardevoir out, Mitsu would have something even more intense in store for her. "Torque! Body Slam!"

The Torkoal drew her head and other limbs into her shell, turning herself backwards and using a blast of flames to propel herself forward, slamming her 150+ pounds of body weight into the sleeping Gardevoir.

Karri, like most other Psychic Pokemon, didn't have such a stellar defense stat and was promptly taken out massive Body Slam. If she had been awake Mitsu knew that she could have avioded the attack with ease. "You did good Karri," Mitsu said lifting up the red and white Pokeball. In a stream crimson light Karri was returned into her Pokeball. "That's some Torkoal you have there Flannery!" Mitsu called out, a grin plastered to her face.

"Looks like you get to make an appearance after all Nightmare," Mitsu said with a light smile. She spoke softly to the Pokeball as if the Pokemon could hear her. With a flick of her wrist Nightmare the Gyrados appeared with his signature roar. He was ready to take on the opponent. "Surf!" Mitsu called out. Confidence ringing though her voice.

Koga winced from the damage and then let out a muffled groan. He watched his Pokemon wobble for a moment before laying out flat and becoming a purple sludge rug. The ninja lifted a Pokeball and recalled his fallen partner, placing the ball back into his shirt. "Now, Kasiya, you will face my final Pokemon. Prepare yourself!"

Master Koga snagged a kunai from the pouch located on his belt behind him, holding tightly to the handle. Embedded in the round hole at the end of the grip was a Pokeball. The man pressed the back of the ball and let it drop into his hand, where he then gave it a flick of the wrist. The orb burst open and a shower of light flooded the area. A purple bat fluttered above the fight, his mutiple wings criss-crossing over each other. "Crobat! Give that Pokemon a taste of its own medicene! Aerial Ace!" All four wings on the purple Crobat began to glow brightly and he flew towards Absol as fast as he could.

Practically bursting through the doors of the Center, Nina gave Krystal's Ultra Ball to Nurse Joy, and took a seat on the sofa in the room. Due to the fact that there were no other people in the Center at the time, it might have taken but a minute or two before the psychic received her Dragon Pokemon back. She graciously thanked the Nurse, and wandered over to the PC in the corner of the room. She logged on, and looked at the three Pokemon that were stored in her box.

"If I'm going to catch another Normal-type Pokemon," Nina said to herself, "I'll need to put away Mihoshi so that the Clefairy can replace her..." Nina took Mihoshi's Pokeball from her belt, and looked at it, running her fingers along its surface. "Wow. It's been such a long time since I first got you, Mimi... This won't be forever, okay? I promise." She clutched the Pokeball to her chest, near her heart, and closed her eyes and sighed. I can't let her out to say good-bye to her. It'd make things that much harder.

Looking to the tray attached to the PC, Nina placed the Pokeball into it and watched it vaporize and disappear; Mihoshi's data appeared on the screen a few moments later. She smiled softly as she looked to the rendered image that displayed her Pokemon. I'll see you later, she thought.

Before logging off, however, Nina noticed that Mihoshi had a held item-- a Twistedspoon. She touched the screen and chose the option to remove the item; it was promptly dispensed where her Pokeball had been a few moments earlier, and she pocketed it. She also saw a small apple near Angel's icon-- this was representative of the item called Leftovers. The girl removed that as well, and snatched up Krystal's Ultra Ball. Touching the item to the ball, it disappeared, causing Krystal to be the holder of the item.

Finished with her computer transactions, Nina signed off and walked outside, releasing Krystal from her ball. She walked to the front of her Pokemon with a broad smile, and ran her hand along the Dragon's forehead, petting her. "I never did get to congratulate you for such a job well done," the psychic said, a warm tone to her voice. "You did so much better back there than I thought you could have." Krystal cooed, a bit of a blush coming onto her face, and her ears flapped a few times.

"Now, though, I need to bug you. Would you mind taking me to Kanto? I've got a Clefairy to capture." A Clefairy? Krystal thought. We're getting a new member to the team? I hope she's nice. The Dragon nodded, signaling that she didn't mind, and allowed Nina to climb on her back.

"Like, hello!" Whitney yelled, as she and Raimundo came running towards the girl, "Did you even, like, PLAN on waiting for us?"
"Well. I'm waiting for you now, aren't I?" A grin. "Get your Pokemon out! We're heading back to Kanto!"

Rio was released, all three of his heads squawking as Whitney got onto his back, while Fearow spread his wings, allowing Raimundo to hop on. Led by Krystal, and on Nina's command, the Pokemon lifted, flapped, and pedaled their way into the air, before taking off to the west.

"Agh, dammit," Nina said, fumbling around and grabbing her Pokenav. "Hm? Something wrong, Nina?" Raimundo called over, looking to the girl.
"Well... err. Sorta. I had a Gym battle with Kilik awhile back, and I just now realized that I only gave him his badge, and not his prize money or TM." Nina pressed a few buttons on her Nav, and the screen displayed all of her Pokemon that were inside her PC.

"Ugh, Nina, don't even worry about him," Whitney said, a tint of disgust in her voice. "Maybe he'll like, be smart and crawl in a hole or something. Nobody cares about him anyway."
"Heh. That's something I can only hope for, Whit," the girl replied, causing a little chuckle from her sister. "But, I'd rather give him that stuff instead of being indebted to him, you know?"
Whitney made a face. "Ugh. I suppose you're right. But like, what do you expect to do about it up here?"

Flicking her hair out of her face, Nina looked over to her sister. "I want to have Mihoshi airlift that stuff to him, but I had to drop her off in my Pokemon box. So what I'm doing--" she pressed a few more buttons on the Nav-- "is, by use of a special coding, release Mihoshi from her box and come to me. I'll give her the stuff, and she can find Kilik from there."
Raimundo cast Nina a confused look. "Wait. How are you doing that? All from your Nav?"
"Yeah. Can't yours do that?" She grinned and saw on the LCD screen that Mihoshi's picture vanished, indicating she was released from the PC.

Some fifteen minutes later, Mihoshi had been able to track down Nina, Whitney, and Rai. She chirped energetically, fluttering over to her Trainer. "Mimi!" Nina exclaimed, snatching her Pokemon in a one-armed hug. "I've got a job for you to do, okay?" Nina took her scarf off, and wrapped up the TM, money, and a small note in it, tying it tightly so its contents wouldn't fall out. "Bring this to Kilik for me, okay? He's... somewhere in Kanto, but I can't tell exactly where. When you're all done, I'll meet up with you in Cerulean City." Never having been assigned such an important task, Mihoshi chirped again, taking the scarf from her trainer. She was wished good luck, and took off.

"She gets it from her daddy," Flannery winked, knowing things would have been different had she been battling with her trusted, elder Torkoal. As Karri was called back and Nightmare was released, his earth-shaking roar was effective in intimidating both Torque and Flannery. "Oh...my," was all the redhead could muster, watching the Gyarados summon a giant wave.

It was over then. Having taken the Thunderbolt from Karri not long before, paired with this devastating, watery attack, Torque submitted rather easily. With a wistful smile, Flannery called her back, eyeing the Gyarados fearfully. "Well, you won," she nodded, reaching into a well-disguised cupboard behind her and pulling out a small, crimson box, exactly like the one she'd given Mike upon his victory. "Your winnings are here," she nodded, trying not to show her fear. "The Heat Badge, prize money, and also my favourite TM, Overheat. It lowers your Pokemon's special abilities harshly if you use it though, so be careful."

It was when the group had crossed into Kanto territory that Krystal began to show signs of fatigue. Realizing that since her Pokemon had just been in a difficult Gym battle, Nina elected it would be best to land and allow not just Krystal, but Rio and Fearow to regain their energy as well. They descended down upon Route 12, although it was against Nina's wishes-- Route 12 was due south of Lavender Town, where she had her previous 'episode,' for lack of a better term.

Mihoshi, however, wasn't fatigued in the least-- or, if she was, her body was refusing to acknowledge it. She was too excited that Nina had decided to call upon her for such an important task. If anything she would have expected Krystal to be the one to carry out something important.

She fluttered around in the southern area of Kanto, passing along Route 13 and looking at every trainer she flew by. None of them were Kilik, however, and she continued her trek along Route 14...

Squatting down and tracing her hand along the surface of the water, Nina grinned a little. She had always felt at ease around the water, which is what made rain her favorite type of weather. She had noticed that it was bright and sunny in Kanto at the moment, as opposed to what it was like in Johto before they had left.

"So," Nina said, rounding up her friends a short time later, "you guys all ready to go? Everyone rested up?"

"Yep, I'm ready to go any time you two girls are."
"Chuh-duh. I've been ready to leave since we like, landed here." Rio and Fearow squawked in agreement, while Krystal simply nodded, her eyes seeming to sparkle.

Hopping onto their Pokemon, Nina, Raimundo, and Whitney all headed off into the skies for the second part of their trek.

...And Mihoshi flew along Route 14, not spotting Kilik yet. Her results were fruitless as she continued through Route 15 as well, before passing into Fuschia City. She marveled at the size of the place-- she had not once been able to freely explore a city. The very first thing she had noticed were the Pokemon on display at the Safari Zone-- she promptly fluttered over, and unintentionally caught the Pokemon conversing with one another. For the most part the conversations were nothing to get excited over, but Mihoshi found herself amused at a Slowpoke talking to himself.

"Those guards are smarter than they appear...my dastardly plan must wait... They are spaztic. They continue to show whiney feelings, especially that Bobert lad..."

Heading to the south of the city, Mihoshi noticed a building with GYM marked on the outside of it. She flew around the building a few times, getting a good look at it, before floating above it for a minute. Upon doing so, she squinted, spotting a familiar person...

Kilik! she thought, before taking off towards him like a divebomber, Nina's scarf clenched in her paws.

Kilik looked at Kasiya and was about to give her a piece of advice before he was pummeled by a Togetic. He caught the Pokemon in his stomach and nearly stumbled over. He shook his head and let the Pokemon go. "If you wanted to battle, just ask!" he barked, then noticed the scarf that it was carrying. Kilik held out his hand and snagged the scarf from the Pokemon, examining it closely. "This belongs to Nina..." he whispered, untying it.

A disk, a wad of cash and a sheet of paper fell out of the piece of cloth. Kilik threw the scarf at Mihoshi. "Ride on home, cowpoke," Kilik whispered, staring at his items. He stashed the disk and cash into his pocket, along with taking a look at the paper. "Blah blah...'prize money and TM. Rather than be in your debt,' blah blah!" he sighed heavily, reading bits of the note very loudly, "blah blah 'still incredibly livid with you' blah blah!" He crushed the note in his fist.

"What else is new, heartless?" he growled, shoving the note into his pocket and looking at Mihoshi. "And didn't I tell you to skedaddle?" the boy glared at the Togetic, rather agressively.

Mihoshi, who had been very upbeat and happy a few moments before, looked hurt and offended from Kilik's words and facial expression. She didn't know what was written on the note, but figured it must have been bad if he was taking his anger out on her. She chirped a little before wrapping the scarf around her own neck, and fluttering away, to the north. Cerulean City, was it?

Nina stretched her arms over her head and cracked her knuckles a little bit as she continued to ride on Krystal. While flying was always something she enjoyed, she didn't like the fact that it always took so long to get from point A to point B. She much rather preferred Sabrina's method of transportation-- using Oracle to teleport her places. However, Oracle was back in the Saffron Gym, and wasn't supposed to leave.

Then, the girl got an idea of how to make time pass a little quicker, and have some fun at the same time. She leaned down to whisper something in Krystal's ear, before holding onto her Pokemon tightly.

Krystal shot downwards toward the ground at an alarmingly fast pace, and at the last second, curved upwards and started flying; the entire maneuver looked like a big V. From there, Krystal started spinning forward like a drill, and then performed a few loops. Nina was laughing, loving every minute of it, while Whitney watched, her mouth practically falling open. "NINA!" she screamed, "Are you trying to kill yourself?!"
PostPosted: Sat Mar 17, 2007 6:44 pm

He did it, Kasiya thought excitedly, watching the poor Muk sink to the ground. She felt a little sorry for it, and realized it was kind of cute in a drippy, mucky sort of way. She smiled at the sight of Koga's Crobat - it was true, he did have one of his own. Its Aerial Ace struck Casimir solidly, and the girl flinched at the sight of her Pokemon writhing in pain. "Give it one right back if you can," the girl called, watching her Pokemon clamber to his feet, and slash the air with his horn one final time before he fell to his belly, not even having the energy remaining to watch his attack land. "You were great," she told the Absol fondly as she recalled him back into his black and yellow Ultra Ball. "I hope this is just the start of things to come."

Every fiber of her being was aching to send out Fang, although the girl froze when reaching for his Pokeball. She had know way of knowing where her own Crobat's location. Koga's words echoed in her mind, and she closed her eyes, placing Casimir's Ultra Ball in one of the large front pockets of her green vest. Fang, let me know where you are, she thought solemnly, her fingers paused at the position he normally rested. Faintly, the girl could hear his screeching, and her blue eyes flashed open. Her hand skipped over the Pokeball she'd been touching lightly with her fingertips, and then the next, coming to land on the position normally occupied by her Absol. Even though Fang was pretty hyper for the most part, she knew the only way he could have reached his final form was if they had a close bond with one another. Her fingers grasped the Pokeball, and she held it up, smiling dearly at Koga before she launched it straight into the air.

Fang burst from his confinement in a cascading shower of gold and emerald sparkles, a glittering trail following in his wake as he unfurled his four wings, screeching loudly. He did his usual three laps over Kasiya's head, and on the third pass, he swooped down, ready for his telltale tackle hug. Kasiya was ready for him, her eyes never leaving Koga's face as she ducked rather gracefully, grabbing onto one of Fang's four wings. She used his momentum to pull her to her, and she hugged the Crobat gently. "I need for you to be at your best," she told him fondly. "If we can defeat Koga and his Crobat, we will have earned the Soul Badge. Understand?" The Crobat nodded slightly, nudging his trainer with his head before she let him go. Fang's amber eyes caught sight of Koga's Crobat hovering nearby, and all at once the green Crobat understood. Now wasn't the time for games, and he knew it. He let out one last screech, ready to get going.

"Fang, Astonish!" the girl cried, pointing at Koga's Crobat. Grinning broadly, Fang complied, launching himself forward, ready to strike.

Still jingling the coins in his palm, Keegan made his way back to the Pokemon Center, feeling slightly better than before. As heartbroken as he was (and he'd never admit it, of course), things were as they should be, and he did feel a strange sense of satisfaction because of it. He'd done everything he was supposed to, and now, he could only pray that Sheridan would treat Helios just as well as he did.

It occurred to him as he entered the Pokemon Center that he had no idea where Fuchsia was, except that it was located in Kanto. He spotted a map tacked to the wall nearby, and made his way towards it. It was then his PokeNav beeped at him, signaling that he had a text message. He sighed, and took the device from his pocket. It was from his mother. "Now what?" the boy grumbled, rolling his eyes as he selected it.

Dear son,
We know we can never replace Helios, nor can we make up what for what you have suffered through. Just know that we are very proud of you, and it takes a big person to make the kind of sacrifice you did. In this message, your father and I have included a username and password to your very own PC storage system, which you can access from anywhere that has Internet access. You can use it to store unneeded items, and also any Pokemon you capture will be sent back home, to us.
Keegan, we are very proud of you and the young man that you've become. Remember that you can always come home if you need to.
Love always, Mom and Dad
PS: Have a look in the PC; we think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Shutting the device once more, Keegan glanced over at the computer in the corner. It was currently not being used, and he shrugged, and walked over to it. It was simple enough, following the instructions on screen. He input his information, and browsed around for a bit, getting used to the system and its functions. After about ten minutes, he had the programs down to a science, playing around with the item storage unit by making the Fire Stone he'd been saving for Helios appear and disappear again on the tray. Finally deciding to leave the burning stone in storage, he prepared to log off, but then realized the icon for Pokemon Storage was flashing at him. It struck him as odd, because he had no Pokemon in storage.

Or so he thought.

After double-clicking on the icon, he let out a surprised gasp and stood up, causing the chair he'd been sitting on to skitter across the floor.
