Sun blinked and caught the jawbreaker before it hit the ground, studying it for a second, shaking it, then looking at both the man and the stuffed toy. He was tempted, REALLY tempted to pocket the little soul. It wasn't much but....

He sighed then leaned down and deposited the host back into the wayward body it had come from.

"You should really be more careful with that, especially these days that we're headed in." Good deeds done for the millennia, Sun got up and headed towards the tavern.

"Oven...oven..." The door slammed open, and most of the patrons grunted in the light before going back to their respective businesses. Sun walked across the floor, and disappeared into the kitchen.

The green jawbreaker dropped down Ichigo's body, and in a few moments, it sat up as if waking from a crazy dream.

"Yeesh...I gotta be more careful with that!" said Kon, before turning to face Sun. "Thanks for the help!"

Seeing that Kon had nowhere else to go, it was best that he stay at the bar. He was better off following these guys now that they were out of harms way. At least if Kon stayed here, Ichigo would be able to find his way back to his body.

Just try to stay alive, Ichigo. I don't think your little sisters would like it if you died...

Inside the Firebrand was a menagerie of different people from around Gaia. A catgirl and foxgirl chatted over cups of tea, while a particularly large man at the bar called for another brewski, slamming his old bottle down in front of a dwarf who was standing on a stool cleaning glasses, who simply grunted in response and pulled out another BEER brand beer.

In some strange way, like a fire burning the dead matter off the forest floor to breathe new life into the ecosystem, the fire that had caused the (some would say ominously named) Firebrand to go up in smoke had, through it's popularity in the Heaven or Hell tournament, brought new life into it's economy.

The clientele was clearly vast and varied, although many of the vampires that milled about looked looked less than pleased due to the large number of windows and the lack of rafters, as the building had two stories and a flat roof. Even so, people generally looked happy save for those who had knocked back a few too many drinks, and those people were quickly escorted out by a burly looking dwarf who carried an axe that looked to be bigger than he was, his short frame outlined by his viking helmet and his puffy red beard.

He almost, ALMOST sounded happy when Rage stepped through the door.

"Ach, Ale'hand'ah, yeh'bright fre'hs wi'who. De'h pay'ih?"

The dwarf didn't get a response at first, but instead just a knock between the horns of his helmet. "Listen, these guys have been through a lot. Just give them what they'd like. The redhead wants an oven for something or other, just let him use it... I'm taking a shower." And as if that was all the response he needed to give, he headed upstairs towards his room.

While Rage vanished upstairs and Sun scurried into the kitchen, the Siren hesitated a moment before walking over to the bar to order a herbal tea with a shot of rum or some similar strong alcohol, digging out her dwarfish knowledge - she hadn't used that language in ages, and in addition the dwarf serving drinks had a thick accent.

"Need something to clean my throat," she added in common tongue while fishing a hair band out of her coat's pocket to casually tie her navy blue locks in the neck.

In fact, she wanted to get rid of the coppery taste in her mouth and sooth the faint burning she felt everytime she swallowed.

Her right hand reached up to adjust the strap over her shoulder: the bag's content seemed to weigh even heavier ever since she had left the forest.

Fortunately these Dwarfs, while having something of an accent, were fluent in most of the dominant languages used on Gaia. It was only the surliest-looking one with the viking helmet that seemed to rely on brute force and assumption to get his point across compared to the others, who was busy grumbling to himself while directing the rest of the staff - all dwarfs.

"Right away," said the bartender, who quickly fetched the Siren her drink. "On the house."

((I... had no idea we were time paradoxing to here. For several days now. Now I feel dumb.

And now need to decide if he's coming along or not. I think he has to because he'll want to make sure someone takes Rain someplace safe while he's injured, and make sure they pick Owle up... but I probably shouldn't because I have a bad feeling he's going to be far too ready to get into a fight with Rage or Sun.

"Gimme your best of anything...ughh..."

Kon had followed the group inside of the Firebrand, flopping into the nearest vacant sear on the nearest surface to the bartender. It wasn't just having to deal with the shades. Following Lazenca to the Dead Woods had tired Kon out as well. He could glean quite a bit from Ichigo's body, but that was only because he was a modsoul. If Kon felt exhausted now, Ichigo would feel like total crap once he got back into his body.

Kon didn't care if the dwarf gave him alcohol or not. He needed something good, even if Ichigo would get pissed at him later for filling his body with such things. The jerk should consider it his payment to Kon for putting him through this.

((Get into a fight Fish, Sun'll try and talk him down but if that's how your character is, that's how he is. Sun will just be Sun at him.))

There was a commotion in the kitchen.

"Ye cannae take tha' oot!! We'll be needin' for tha fud!!!"

"I'm sorry but I don't want to blow this place sky high and the only way to do what I wanna do is tricky at the best of times. I'll put it back when I'm done...you ken?"

There was the sound of something large dragging across the wooden floor."

"Ah, I ken, and I ken that you be a right fool an' all. T'owners jus had tha whole lot dun ovah, an now ya be goin 'gainst all tha' to move a bit o'furniture round."

"I'm not gonna make it back," Cue more dragging and the sound of a door being opened by a foot. "To the stadium," More dragging, out to the bar now. People scattered as Sun actually dragged a potbellied black oven in his wake. "To move all my stuff, so this is the best way...actually..." He straightened up panting and squinting towards the door. "I think here will be fine." An irate dwarf beard glowered at him from under a helmet.

"Ya jus said tha' ya might blow us all teh Valhalla!?"

"Yah, well...I'll be more careful." Sun felt all around the metal like he was looking for something, then drew a symbol in the soot, repeat and wash process. Each started to glow with a certain kind of light. "These kinds of things have their own natural kind of magic anyway, it's best for what I need." Another rune and fire lit up inside the oven itself with a roar, making the now circular crowd take a step back from the crazy red headed man.

"Fantastic, I was right! This'll go so well!!"

She sighed when she felt the alcohol tea mix running down her throat and pleasantly burning in her stomach.

The possibility of leaving the forest had felt right altogether - but well known impatience made her jaw muscles clench and unclench. She knew she couldn't really do anything right now, that collecting more information was essential...and still...standing right there at the bar was unbearable.

Glancing over her shoulder, Lucind watched Sun creating his own little heating station. She couldn't help frowning a little: her recent change from half to fullblood hadn't exactly done something for her innate dislike against fire.

.....A stranger 'pon this horizon of solid land and boundless blue, Jerard walked along a comfortably arcing pathway that only he could see clearly; he hugged the edge of the planet so tightly that as the tide rolled in, the edges of his soles were lost in the blue oblivion.
.....His golden eyes, streaked with a darker orange, caught hold of the symbol he had been told to look for: A red dragon, mounted by a humanoid figure, etched into the exterior of a two-story building of a surprisingly cozy design.
....."The Firebrand, I presume?" he asked the winds.

Hono literally popped into the tavern, took a quick look around, politely muttering apologies for the disturbed looks on the faces of a few patrons before she curled up next to the roaring fire in the newly situated oven, with a little nod of hello to Sun as she wrapped her arms around her knees and leaned her back right against the scalding hot metal... she needed a nap, or a snack...or perhaps a vacation would work better sweatdrop

Whatever it was that was needed Hono knew she was becoming more a shadow of her former cheerful self with ever day.

"The armor is more of a practical thing," the older man would get in reply, either a while ago or at great delay, "less of a fashion statement. Life's got this habit of just getting more 'n more complicated when what y' need is simpler though. I'll give you that."

At a much more certain point in time, the Firebrand's front door was none too gently opened again as the armored fellow Rain had well enough identified for everyone on their magic carpet dragon ride as Kael hauled the other aforementioned party into the building. If he'd had time, he'd probably have gotten the guy a crutch since that seemed more dignified than having the taller fellow hunch over so Kael could stand on his bad side and wrap and put his arm over his shoulders, and his own around the man's waist just so he could "walk".

As first order of business, he'd get Rain into a chair and help the man to sit down.

As a second, he'd start undoing the straps to his helm, which evidently by the visor still being lowered, had been bashed in such a place as it was impossible for him to raise the mask. He'd raise it off of his head, gasping at the fresh air as sweat-slickened hair fell all around his face, also still sweaty and showing the makings of a large, nasty bruise near his temple where his helmet had been smashed.

With undo violence, he flung the helmet across the room, bouncing off a wall and clattering across the floor.

"Goddamnit, why did we come all the way back here, we're losing time!"

Sun, and apparently Rage since it was his dragon and all, weren't telling him something, probably important, the first part of which he was used to by now. Not anything less than seething at, but used to. Why they thought they could wander off and expect him to take "no" for an answer about saving the life of a girl they'd been gung-ho about helping earlier, plus the fate of the world all riding on her safety and that, he didn't know.

They might have been above it all, the goddamn gods and godlings and heroes and everything else they were, but Kael didn't like seeing people hurt, even ones he didn't know, and he had a family that he did not plan on seeing wiped away in it all. That, and preventing the end of the world just generally seeming a good idea and all of that. He wasn't going to sit still with this much on the line. He was still feeling tired and moderately dizzy, worried his head wound had caused a concussion, but he still knew it was horrible, terrible sense to burst into Eden alone. As it was though, there was too much riding on it. He didn't see any alternative but taking a moment to have Owle pass on message to everyone else about what had happened and tell them all to get to the island fast as they could manage as well.

He started stripping his breastplate off as well, since that was dented and impairing his breathing, and as coincidence the leather portion of the armor the steal was working in tandem with. At least it didn't leave him bare chested, though his white undershirt was slicked to his body with even more sweat than his head seemed to be coated with.

As soon as that was discarded and let fall on the ground, he'd stalk impatiently right up to Rage, and much like before, demand that they needed to get onto that island, now.

Rain listened to Kael's explanation, not really showing any sort of approval or disapproval. He hobbled as best he could with his left leg, while holding his right off the ground. To those unaware of what happened, his lower right leg had been crushed in a battle in the Dead Forest. Crushed, to the point where it looked half as bulky as his left leg, and a metallic bone, completely fractured, was jutting out from the wound, piercing through the cloth of his pants.

Though, he did not seem in pain at the moment, despite how godawfully painful the wound looked.

"Mmm... to each their own. All the sword skill in the world means nothing if you're dead, yeah?" he retorted, easing his way into the chair. Once seated, he reached over and pulled another chair closer, and very, VERY carefully lifted his leg up with his hands, to place it onto the flat surface. He ah-ah-ah'd in the process of doing so, but as promised, he felt no pain.

"Thanks for the hand, Kalis. Can you do me three favors? Thank the songlady for helping me, get me an icepack, and a beer? I'd-"

Well, Kael just kind of exploded then. Rain opened his mouth to interject, but decided against it for the time being, and instead, turned his gaze towards the window. And frowned.

"And do what, exactly?"

So much for that shower.

His eyes sparking with the sort of internal fire one might expect from him, Rage turned on his heel and turned back towards Kael, his voice on the verge of cracking as he spoke. It seemed like if he were pushed any further his wounds would re-open themselves from the blood pumping through his veins. "You think I don't want to save her as much as you do? That I didn't know the risks of coming back here instead of getting to the island?" A hot blast of air erupted from his nose, as if he was trying to laugh but couldn't bring himself to do it. "Yes, I suppose I should have taken the battered and broken lot of us up to a damned floating island filled with gods-know-what just waiting for us to drop in and rip what's left of us to shreds. Hold on, I'll go tell Ryuji where you'd like to go. He'll drop you off, and I'll be sure to visit your memorial grave site every now and then after this is over."

He stared at Kael for a moment, his entire body seeming to be a twitching mass of aggravation and... well... rage. "Something bad is going to happen, that much we know. But if Sunstrike is to be believed, they're not going to kill her, and they're not going to harm her, at least for now. If they were going to do either one, they would have done it in the forest." His breathing started to regulate again, although the agitation in the way he spoke was clearly still there, more than likely to combat Kael.

"It's not going to help her or us if we go stomping in and get ourselves killed. And if you ask me, they were expecting us. All of us. And they came prepared. And as much as I figure, they expect us to go crashing their party when we're all busted up. And as much as I hate sitting on my hands, we don't stand a chance unless we can figure out a way to catch them when they least expect it... or when they most expect it, and pound them into the ground."

Taking a step back, he drew in one long, final breath, his head tilting down, no longer looking at Kael.

"I failed once. It won't happen again."

He'd stick around for a bit if Kael continued to talk, or if anyone else wanted to address him, but otherwise would leave in short order.

He was itching for that shower.

The more crowded the tavern became and the louder it got around her, the more her face got shrouded, as if she wasn't really there, mental-wise.

"Thanks for the hand, Kalis. Can you do me three favors? Thank the songlady for helping me, get me an icepack, and a beer?"

"You're welcome," she mumbled. Rain though would hear at is if the woman stood right next to him.

Finishing her rum-tea, the Siren left the bar to walk over to Rain, avoiding to get close to either the fireplace or the two men arguing.

A eyebrow being cocked was the result of Lucind taking a closer look at the shattered leg. "Neat." It wasn't clear though if she meant the metal bone or the fact that even your morning cereals offered more resistance than this crushed limb.

"Simple adjusting won't do here - that cries for magic."

With that, the Siren looked at Rain and extended a hand: "I'm Lucind, by the way. Lucind Varhetel."
