It isn't that, Giovanna said, moving closer to him. Really. I just didn't mean to grab onto you in such a manner, she explained. Believe me, I don't mind... being close to you.

Then why didn't you want to grab onto me? I was fine with it, I was only letting go because I figured the initial shock of being in the middle of the pool had worn off, he laughed nervously before splashing at Giovanna once more.

I just thought I had hurt your neck or something, Giovanna said, splashing back at him. Besides, if I were going out with someone, I'd feel awkward about being so close to another person.

I'm... not going out with anybody, Makoto said, looking down into the water, bobbing slightly on the surface of it. I told Toshi we weren't going to get married, so... I guess it doesn't matter, he said again, forcing a smile.

I... err, I mean, I'm going to tell her... I don't know how, though, Makoto said, correcting himself. I'm not sad, I'm just thinking... she's going to be very disappointed in me, as are a lot of people... he said, his voice trailing off with his thoughts.

Well, I'm certainly not disappointed in you, Giovanna smiled warmly, brushing her fingers across one of his cheeks. You're still young. Young people have a lot to think about nowadays. She nodded, slightly pouting. Don't rush into anything you're not sure about, alright darling?

You know, Giovanna started, moving to the side of the pool and holding onto the edge. I felt like that when I was younger, too. Back then, there wasn't so much for young people to worry about, either, so I can imagine what you're going through. To some extent at least. She turned her back against the wall and smiled at Makoto. I also know it's hard to not feel like you're not learning enough quick enough... Sorry that was quite jumbled, huh? she laughed softly. What I'm trying to get at is that you shouldn't worry, okay? There isn't actually very much you need to know, and as long as you have friends to help you through life, it'll seem easier. What exactly is it that you feel is so hard? ...That you need to learn about?

Oh I don't know, it just seems like, I want to do everything, and I want to experience everything good out there that can be experienced, except, I feel like I can't do it all, and it's so overwhelming, to the point where I spend so much time worrying about spending too much time... Makoto said, all in one breath. He took a big breath of air and swam over towards the edge, too, gripping onto it with one hand.

Giovanna nodded, smiling warmly to him. Don't worry, she said, resting a hand on his shoulder. Nobody has the time to experience everything they want to. Make what you want to experience the most your top priority and then work your way through what you want from there. She nodded again, still smiling. Someone so young shouldn't have so many worries.

Well, Makoto started with a laugh, moving so he could sit on the side of the pool. I guess I just get it from my parents. Both of them are like this, as well.
