After what? 7 years? of playing an instrument and being told to keep it IN tune, they want me to bend a note sharp for a solo, and I don't know how.
High G# up to A. Can anyone give me tips?

Hey, do any of you guys have one of those pad things on your mouth piece? I bought one a couple weeks ago and I just can't get used to having it on there :/ It's keeping the vibrations of the mouth piece from hurting my teeth, but....

I use one, but I'm thinking of taking it off. It feels way too awkward in my mouth. I mayu just put it on my marching horn or something.

Contrariwise After what? 7 years? of playing an instrument and being told to keep it IN tune, they want me to bend a note sharp for a solo, and I don't know how. High G# up to A. Can anyone give me tips? Just make your mouth really tight when going up to the note. Using a harder reed might help, too. 3nodding Inucoli Hey, do any of you guys have one of those pad things on your mouth piece? When looking for mouthpieces, I tried one with a pad thing on it. It felt kind of funny, so I didn't get it, but I probably would have gotten used to it eventually. Come to think of it, maybe I should have gotten it. All my mouthpieces end up with teethmarks in them. sweatdrop

Eh, I think I'm just gonna leave mine on. The more I think about it, it really does help me to open my throat up even if it does feel strange o_O

Then just bring it back in tune. Same effect if it's done right, and it's easier.

Pinapple_Gummies IS the Alto sax hard to play? I'm switching from the Flute to it. I'm really excited to play. I havent even gotten it yet and i already have reeds. One of my friends did that and she said it wasn't so bad because the fingerings are pretty close to the same thing. Her user name on Gaia is Mori_hime if you wanna talk to her about it. She could probably tell you more...

Hmm... Lets see.
I play alto. Kessler Custom antique finish with a BARI WTII 9* and Rico Jazz Select 2m, or Selmer Soloist C** Metal with VandorenV16 3's.
I also play tenor. A Black Nickle Selmer Solist with a BARI WTII 9* and Riggoti 2 1/2 reeds.
Bari... Yamaha YTS-62 with a Berg Larson 110/2/sms and Fredrick Hemke 3 1/2.
And Finally soprano... Currentlly no soprano with an otto link 6* and Suprial DC 2 1/2.
I miss my soprano...
But I love my alto!

Do you guys have to lug your baritone saxes around the field? My director said if we could do it we would be able to... word to the wise. Unless you are up to having a stiff neck every day, don't do it... but if you're up to it, then that's great!!!
