Kaleb sighed taking the last sips of his first cup of coffee of the day before speaking again. "I don't really see how you knowing her past would help anything in the now, but I might suggest you could ask her while she's asleep like you did you two became bonded and it couldn't hurt to take a look at those art diaries of hers those are very detailed."

Theresa sat. "I wouldn't do that unless you want to make matters worse. She'll found out what you did. Whether now or later, and then she will shut you out. That is the last thing you want." she sent a glare at her husband.
"You want to just talk to her. Calmly, with lots of comfort. Don't pressure her. That's all you can do."
She sipped her tea. "Now I think it's more important right NOW. To plan how to get through her date. And finding a way to bring her mother here. I, for one, would like to meet the woman."

Devon didn't like that answer too much, but it was logical. He stared at the table. "I don't think that bringing her here is a great idea."

Kaleb snorted unfazed by his wife's glare as he was so used to them at this age. "How bad could bringing her here be?" Kaleb asked only see the pros his mate saw not the unknown negative his son saw.

Devon snorted. "Enough to grate on your nerves. She puts me on edge just being around her." he remarked. "Plus, it's like the minute Lark sees her she breaks down and hided within herself. Like I would imagine someone who's been beaten would do. But the woman didn't raise a hand to her. Or even indicate that." he puzzled.

Kaleb sighed and spoke again before Theresa's imagination got away with her again. "Devon, begin beaten doesn't have to mean physically it could also mean emotionally, if she is really as bad as you say she is then it's no wonder Lark blames herself for everything bad that happens around her, panic attacks, and how she gets depressed when she left alone for long periods of time. Her mother crushed her spirit, she's only a shell of the bright girl she once was but if you don't want Alice here then I guess Theresa and I will have to go to her." He spoke as his ears picked up movement upstairs.

Lark opened her eyes slowly waking up peacefully before last nights events came back to her and she let out a choke sob.

Devon sat up a little straighter when Lark awakened. The lines of worry on his face deepen, then cleared as he tried to remain in control. She didn't need to know how concerned he was.
"Go to her then." he answered quickly. "I need to go for now."

Theresa grabbed his arm before he got up. "I'll make some tea. Don't bring up our conversation until she is relatively calm and controlled." she warned.

Devon nodded. "I won't."
With that he ran up the stairs to their room.

Kaleb got up and rinsed out his mug knowing that Theresa would want to leave as soon as possible and she wouldn't accept him dragging his feet this morning, in fact she might even leave him behind and do something reckless. "Best have sedative put in the tea hon, just in case."

The heavy feeling was back in her chest it felt like she had her heart taken out and a rock put in its place, the tears came before she could even tried to stop them, Devon wasn't around and she didn't blame him for leaving to work or wherever he went. Lark couldn't even stand herself let alone expect Devon to be around her right now after what she did to him.

Devon opened the door quietly and in a few steps was at the bed and by Lark's side. She wrapped an arm around her and kissed her head.
"Shhhh. I'm here. I'm not leaving you."

Theresa was about to snap that that was a bad idea. But then again, anything to help relax the girl.
"Only a little. And only this time. We won't be backing a habit of this."

Lark only cried harder when he said that, she tried to pull away but he wouldn't let her. "Maybe you should, I cause you nothing but trouble I cause everyone around me nothing but trouble you don't deserve the misery I bring." She said trying futility to break away again still crying again.

Kaleb sighed. "I'll go get ready." he said walking off chucking to himself

Devon shook his head. "One thing you never bring me is misery, Lark. You don't deserve that misery that's piled on you and you never did." he remarked calmly. "Plus, even if I was miserable, you have me so tight around your finger I could never leave." he joked halfheartedly.

Theresa knocked and came in with a cup of tea. "Good morning Lark. I rought some tea. It should help wake you up and calm your nerves." she said kindly

Lark jumped startled when Devon's mom knocked finally managing to pull away from him. "Morning, and thank you." She managed to get out even though she was still crying quietly as she sipped the tea needing something to calm down, but not expecting anything to take the weight off her chest in fact she felt she deserved it

"Thanks Mom." he said, squeezing her hand briefly.

Theresa just smiled. "Don't worry about it. Kaleb and I are going out in a bit. I think you two can survive on cereal for breakfast" she joked. "See you soon. And Lark. Things aren't as bad as they seem."
She kissed the girl on the head and left.

Lark sighed Devon's joke only making her feel worse about herself it wasn't fair that Devon would end up like everyone else she ever cared about either dead or hating her like her own mother she was taken by surprised when Theresa kissed her head it was such a motherly gesture something she never had in so long that she began sobbing all over again once the door closed. Theresa was right things weren't bad as she thought they were much worse her mother had her and Devon and her 'curse' would hurt Devon and cause him to hate her if her didn't die tragically. She finished off the tea and curled into a ball and cried her heart out, hating herself for what she is,a curse.

Fed up, Devon picked her up forcing her off the bed to stand in from of my. He was firm but gentle, ignoring her struggles.
"Lark. Look at me. Breath okay." he said firmly. "I want you to really feel what I am feeling, Don't think about anything else but that. Tell me what you feel from me." he commanded.

Lark did struggle against Devon when picked her up worried about what he was going to do after reading her thoughts, half afraid he would agree with most of them even though it would really surprise her but still that thought hurt to think about. She didn't want to do what he asked of her but she knew he wouldn't let it go. Sighing heavily and trying to breathe normally even though tears were still falling from her eyes, she looked into his golden gaze and cleared her mind best she could before seeking out Devon's feelings and what she felt from him shocked and made her eyes water up even more before she ran into him arms. Unable to speak. She felt his powerful love for her, his protectiveness, his worry and concern, his stubbornness and unwillingness to let her go anywhere without him, and lastly his rage toward the person that hurted her so badly.
