Tsume was two seconds away from lifting the stupid bunny by the neck and carrying him that way, but Ipo scurried from his grasp before he could act on the impulse. Leo was still flushed hotly and he heard a few soft comments from the gathered group. they knew who Elliot was already, of course, but it was proper he introduce him all the same. "My friends, " he called out, smiling as he gain the gathered people's attention once more, "I have been unforgivably rude. may i introduce the man who has saved my, mind body and soul, Prince Elliot of Nalenyr. I ask you show him the same respect you would show me, more for without his aid i would have never returned to our fair forest. I owe this man more than i can ever repay." he let go of Elliot's hand and bowed to him, but it was not the submissive bow of a bentien he offered. He bowed as an equal to the prince, one ruler to another offering respect and gratitude. His people followed his example, bowing to the forgein prince, silently sending their thanks to the man for saving their prince. Leo finally stood and smiled, "Thank you, El-Eliot. you have given me so much as asked for so little in return. i swear some day i will find a way to repay you." Nix felt overflowing with the many, many thoughts swirling around her and she smiled widely before looking at Ipo. "There is pretty much anything you could want available, but here you will find mostly fruits and veggies. there's some assortment of meats for Tsume and you visitors though. Leo and i don't eat meat, sort of a family body type thing. we can eat a little, i guess, but too much and we'll get ill." she picked up a bowl of stewed fruits and began to eat. "if you want something ask and i'm sure we'll find in somewhere on one of these blankets. everyone brought their favorite dishes after all."

Ears picked up small murmurs, and the prince was surpised a few knew who he was, though most of his attention was on Ipo. Honestly that boy was a good servant, but he tended to act without thinking. However as Leo introduced him, Elliot bowed his head toward everyone in a silent hello, the Falian prince still speaking. The bow was unexpected, but he returned the favor in bowing back. He was a little embarrassed, he never had to be so close to the public before in a formal setting. Standing he smiled at Leo. "You saved both my father's and my life, Leonard. This is the least I could do in return." The Falian had saved Elliot's family, so Elliot had taken Leo to his. Perhaps they were even with no debts, then. Ipo smiled. "That's rather amazing, Princess. Although I'm not much of a meat eater myself, and Prince Elliot hasn't eaten much meat since he met your brother. I assume he's being polite and refraining from doing so." He looked at the plethora of food on the blanket. "Though today I wouldn't mind eating some meat. Is everyone in this forest a vegetarian, or just specific families?" He glanced at Tsume, looking at where the other was staring before stealing that particular food and biting into it. "This is actually really delicious! Prince Elliot, hurry and come eat before Tsume eats it all!"

Leo looked down as the prince used his name and he bit his lip, wanting to argue, to ask the man to not say such a thing, but he didn't. he managed to control himself this time. his hand slid back into Elliot's and he smiled, "i guess we are even then, if you think so." he lead the man to the blankets and sat down, "don't worry. we really aren't so formal here, just-that was a special occasion." Tsume thumped the rabbit on the back of his head, but took another piece of the roasted chicken with bacon wrapped around it and happily started to eat. Nix laughed, "it's more of a species thing than families. i mean, Leo and i? we can tolerate meat because we are only half faie, but our mother couldn't even eat a bite of it without becoming violently ill. faie's systems just can't handle something so heavy. most of the people here eat both meat and veggies, like most humans. some have a more meat based diets like Tsume, but that is because of who and what he is." she shrugged, "just like you, a rabbit, prefer to eat veggies and fruits to meats." Leo picked a delicate pink fruit and held it up to Elliot, "please try, this is one of my favorites." it had been so long since he'd even seen the fruit, let alone tasted it. "it's a bit tart with the first bite, but it gets really sweet the more you chew it. parents use it as a way to teach their children to chew their food properly."

"If I was not polite back I would have seemed rude." Elliot said softly, following the other prince and sitting beside him. "well you have seen my home, hardly so formal, but much like you, only on special occasions." And looked at the food, deciding to indulge himself in the meat since it was already there. Just one of everything, to try the local cuisine. He tried to keep away from familiar foods, but spotting a few of his favorites he gave in, munching away happily on the dead animal. "Ow! Why do you need to be so mean, Tsume?! We're friends now!" He angrily started to eat a lot of the vegetables, listening to the princess with tears in his eyes. "I was just curious. Forgive me for asking a stupid question, I'm not very educated. I'm more manual labor, my twin brother is the educated one." Despite neither of them knowing how to read, Kashi at least tried and was able to read only a little bit. "Tsume is mean, it's all the read meat. Maybe a diet would make him nicer?" Elliot paused his eating to take a sip of his drink, glancing over as Leo held out the fruit. "Thank you." And took the fruit, looking like a larger version of a grape and shaded pink instead of deep purple or wine red. He took a bite, chewing and finding that the small bit of tart Leo had described was sour, black ears visibly flinching. Elliot was not as used to sour foods as leo must have been, he'd hardly eaten sour foods before. True to his word, though, the fruit did indeed get sweeter, and the prince found that he enjoyed it very much. "This is indeed delicious. Care to point out the food you hate the most?" And chuckled. Elliot hated anything to do with plums.

Nix shook her head, "you don't need to apologize, silly. it's natural to ask questions since it shows a desire to know more. you claim to be more build for manual labor and yet i can sense a deep desire to learn inside of your heart. you should ignore your pride and ask more. i wouldn't be surprised if you found yourself to be quite the opposite of what you now believe you are." she winked before taking a leaf of lettuce and placing a fruit salsa inside. she rolled it up to eat it, her eyes closing slightly at the sweet taste. "chicken isn't red meat, dumba-" but a look from leo made him cat himself and not complete the word, "stupid rabbit." he muttered and got a piece of fire roasted turkey next, placing it on a roll to make a sandwich "i hate the most-" Leo said offhandedly, looking over what was on their blanket. the vast majority of it was his favorites, save for the meat of course. "hmmm, one moment please." he stood and slowly moved from blanket to blanket, speaking with the people there and searching for the dish. he finally found it and smiled warmly as he took a little back with him, thanking the surprised occupants. he sat down near Elliot and held up a small wooden plate with rolled up leaves on it. "here, eat one." he smiled and held it out to the prince, refusing to tell him what it was until he'd taken a bite. it was a mint leaf with a sticky brown paste inside made from mixing the sap of maple trees and a ground nuts. Leo hadn't liked the paste since he was first given it as a baby and still to this day the very smell of it made him want to curl up his nose.

Tsume's comment didn't go unheard, turning and looking at the other, taking a large bite of the roll and pulling away. "If it bleeds it's red meat! Except fish, because they live in the sea." Hardly the appropriate argument, but Ipo was going to stick with it. As for Nix, sure maybe he was curious, but that's why you asked questions like she said. Why learn how to read if what you wanted to know can be told? No one ever told him to look it up so he was fine. "And I'm a hare, not a rabbit. Are you a toy poodle?" And continued to eat his veggies, barely registering Leo and Elliot talking more or less beside him. "I can wait." Elliot responded, continuing to try the cuisine. There was already so much on their blanket, and looking at the others he saw more and more variations of food and flavors and the smells were so thick in the air you could taste it. The prince finished the tart grape looking fruit before moving on around his own blanket. Truth be told he was to shy to move elsewhere, what if majority of them disliked him or his country? When Leo returned the prince was eating something he thought was meat, but it had a very, squishy vegetable, like taste and texture. He wasn't too fond of it's decieving nature. It looked to be really delicious meat too. "Thank you." He gently took one of the leaves. It looked fine, but he took a bite of it instead of shoving it in his mouth. He was glad he'd done so, the taste made him hesitate to chew, but he did. There was the mint flavor, a nutty flavor and something very similar to syrup, though much thicker and richer in flavor. The downside, it was sticking to the roof of his mouth. using his tongue he tried to scrape it off, mouth moving slightly before he covered his mouth as he spoke. "Perhaps it would be better with tea." came the muffled comment, still trying to remove it from his mouth. Was this paste?!

Nix sighed and shook her head, "learning for yourself is far more fun than just being told, but to each his own." she snagged on of the mint snacks that Leo had brought and happily ate it, the treat being one she rather enjoyed. the arguement made for red meat was a terrible one, but she knew she wouldn't be able to convince him otherwise. he'd know better if he would bother to learn things for himself, but she didn't say that out loud. Tsume just shook his head, "Stupid bunny-boy. can't argue with someone who doesn't want to learn, it's like arguing with a toddler." he took up a meat bun next and leaned back, smiling as his gaze fell on Leo. everything was almost perfect. Leo giggled and covered his mouth with a hand, "see why it's not my favorite? here, this is a light fruit wine. it'll help wash it down." he poured Elliot a drink from a fat pitcher into a beautifully carved glass that was shapped to look like a flower. he held it up to the prince and smiled, "this is one of my favorite drinks. you can have an entire pitcher and not be drunk."

Ipo could almost feel the stares of pity on him as he continued to nibble away. He wasn't an idiot! He was built for manual labor! They just didn't understand, in Kasp education was for those who could afford it, and by the time they were sold to Nalenyr they already had roles andk new how to do them so there was no point in education. Maybe he could ask the Prime Minister. It was a thought, but that man was a little nutty, but such a great guy. Huh, now that he thought about it wasn't it actually the king that tried to teach Kashi? Or the Prime Minister? They were almost always together it was hard to remember. Maybe... it was neither... Kashi was smart enough to learn on his own. "What's it like being a princess here in Falia?" He asked Nix, deciding to change the conversation. Elliot nodded a thanks and took the glass, drinking from it. The paste seemed to float away from the roof of his mouth, wine doing its job. "That is a wonderful blend of fruit." he commented, looking into the drink before finally taking in the glass's appearance. Elliot didn't want to assume that Falia did things by hand, for all he knew they were more technologically advanced then his father's country. "This is beautifully decorated." and another sip was taken, chuckling. "Well I shall watch myself. I do not do well with alcohol. You are free to chat around, you do not need to bind yourself to one spot. You must let the rest of your kingdom see your handsome smile." Leo was much happier, Elliot could tell and it only added to the other's beauty.

Nix leaned back, "well, everyone treats me like their little sister so it's pretty nice. i've lessons and such, but i like those. it helps me control what i can and can't hear." she tapped her temple to show what kind of 'hearing' she meant. "other than that it's not much different than being any daughter here. were mother-well, there are some lessons i should be taught that the council has deemed to dangerous right now, but i'll be able to learn them soon. expecially now that Leo's here." Leo's hands flinched into fists and he looked around before dropping his gaze to the blanket, "i-" he shook his head and swallowed, "it frieghtens me." he whispered. "i don't know what tos ay, what to do. these are my people but how can something like me even hope to meet all of their expectations. i have learned but there is so much forgotten so much lost. how can i face them, speak to them one on one? they will see all i am lacking." "you needn't fear, my prince." came a soft voice and Leo turned his head to look at a nearby tree. a woman stepped out from it and gently smiled at him. "Leo, it has been long since i laid eyes on you." the dryad lightly knelt on the blanket and cupped Leo's cheeks, looking into his eyes. "so much pain and sorrow i see. so much suffering. we all see it...however," her eyes trailed over to Elliot, "there is some happiness too." she released Leo and reached out one long fingered hand to the prince, "i am Birch, speaker for the Dryads. we welcome you and thank you, young Prince. the world trees shall know of your deeds. if you ever are in need, come to us and we shall provide."

"I'd imagine you get a pretty bad headache when you hear too much." Ipo responded. "Not to mention you hear a lot of things you probably don't. Do people just speak their mind around you to prevent you from speaking? because I'm sort of doing that right now because that's a really weird ability. And you're so little too. You're younger then the princesses back home but you're already so responsible." He wanted to hug her, but he wasn't going to. The guards were somewhere, he was sure of it. Elliot gently touched the clenched hand. "If they are your people they will understand. Trauma is a sensitive topic, so they will be gentle with their words." He was going to speak but a sympathetic voice caught his ears, making him look over while retracting his hand. Yes, she was the one whom he'd spotted earlier because she was a race he'd never encountered. When her eyes turned to him Elliot paused. Some happiness? The prince tried his best not to blush, taking the outstretched hand and giving it a small shake. "I am Elliot, prince of Nalenyr and I thank you for your kind words, Birch, speaker for the Dryads." There was little he could offer, he was not a speaker but a mere prince and an ambassador if needed. Embarrassing perhaps, but what could he do about it.

Nix shrugged, "Pretty much. it's hard to keep a secret around me, though i do try and repect people's privacy. i spent too many hours and there were too many people hurt because i used to feel like i had to help everyone with every little thing i hear, but i got better about that. no one likes a two year old who suddenly tells you that your lover is cheating on you." she sighed and shook her head, "but still. if it's something big i don't keep it to myself." Birch kept her surprisingly warm hand around Elliot's and smiled, "yes, i have seen much of you. the trees whispered of your coming, Elliot. they speak of you, tell us of your life and we know you are of pure heart. the perfect mate to piece back together our broken prince." Leo blushed, "Birch!" he gave her a childish look and in that moment you could see that they had once been good friends. "We may have grown up together, but come on. that doesn't mean you get to embarrass me. and stop looking into El-Elliot's past!" he looked at his master, "i'm sorry, she's always been nosy like this." Birch laughed and leaned forward to press soft lips to both of their temples, "yes, yes, but that is not why i am here. not totally. Leo-" she suddenly became serious, "the trees have called you. they wish speak with you." the entire crowd became silent at the words, turning to look at them and Leo paled. "they wish to commune?" Birch nodded, "all have been rejected since the taking in of the mother. you will be the first." Leo looked at Elliot, "i-may i think about it?" Birch nodded and stood, "of course. i shall come to you this evening for your answer." she bowed to the group before stepping back into the tree she had emerged from. LEo's hand found Elliot's and he clung to it, "what should i do?" he whispered not really talking to anyone but himself

"That's kind of scary. I imagine it'd be twice as worse if you came back to Nalenyr with us. I'm not trying to say our kingdom is bad, but everyone has secrets, and stuff." He heard rumors amongst the staff, things were either going to get really good or get really bad. "Well how big is big? Elliot keeps lots of things to himself, like his love for Lily. It's his hatred for our Prime Minister he's so open about." Ipo could only say this because the said prince was distracted by the dryad. "And he doesn't talk about his mother. I wasn't here for that but the oldest servants say it had been a tragedy because she died so young. I think he knows something he never revealed." The hare paused. "But I guess I'm saying too much. Let's hear about Poodle now!" And smiled at Tsume happily. After the shake Elliot just barely loosened his grip, realizing she wasn't loosening hers. Her grip was still a gentle hold, but she wasn't letting go. He supposed they'd stay holding hands them. But plants could hear and listen, it was still as surprising as when discovering Leo could communicate with them. But he was pure of heart? Hardly the case. "Mate?" He stared, somewhat confused even as she kissed the side of his head. He couldn't be another male's mate. Technically speaking they'd mated several times, but pregnancy was impossible between men. He was worried, very very worried at that comment. Hearing that the trees wanted to commune Elliot thankfully took the distraction. He looked at Leo, seeing the pale face. He wanted to kiss it, hold the other, however when Leo held his hand the Nalenyr prince pressed his lips to that instead, holding with both of his hands. "You should think this through, and then go talk to them. You have until evening to think. Try to relax." Ipo looked at Nix. "Is there anything Lily can do to relax? Your brother's stress skyrocketed within a few minutes."

Nix had been avoiding looking into Elliot's mind like he'd asked, but now she was curious. however, like the rest of the people there, she stared at Birch after the announcement. She shook her head a little at Ipo's question, "i don't know. communing with the trees used to be as widely practiced as bathing before the attack. everyone was welcomed and taken in, even father from what i've heard. for them to shut themselves of so completely for so long has been a great blow to The People. if they are opening the doors again-it could mean so much." Leo looked over at her, "i would be the first?" she nodded, but that didn't help any. "i-" if his communing meant that he could open the doors for his people and reintegrate the trees into his people's lives then he would do it in a heartbeat, but the people of the trees were protective of his family. what if they saw how damaged he was and refused to release him as they had his mother? he didn't want to be forced to leave the master. not like that. Tsume moved to Leo's side and put a hand on his shoulder, "all is well. they will not force you to stay, not when they know the people need you." he nuzzled Leo's cheek much like a dog would, "maybe they will even let you see your mother-" "Elliot? could you take brother to that house up there?" Nix pointed up one of the larger trees with nothing on the bottom, but up in the branches was an elaborate house build around and part of the tree. "i think he needs some alone time with you to think about it and he wont be able to do that down here surrounded by people. Tsume, Ipo, you two stay down here and keep me company."

Ipo lowered his ears. "That's a big responsibility on his shoulders." He could say one wrong thing and what would happen? Would he be like his mother? Kid Leo must have been cute to look at, what with his cerulean eyes they were probably big blue eyes as a child. Oh, his thoughts were wandering again. Elliot frowned as Tsume nuzzled the other, having half the urge to bite at the older man's nose. Nix distracted him from his temporary jealously and he looked up where she pointed. silver eyes looked and spotted what appeared to be stairs. "I'll take him there, no worries." The smallest bit of pride hearing he could help Leo more then Tsume. What was Elliot becoming, he was almost ashamed of it all." He looked at Leo, gently squeezing his hand. "You ready? You can relax and think up there, all right?" "But I want to go." Ipo said sadly, quickly looking at Nix. "Can I still eat without my prince?"

Tsume huffed at Nix, but didn't argue with her. Nix smiled at Ipo, "i'll show you around later, but for now lets give those two some time alone. you can eat as much as you like, we will still be eating while they go up after all." Leo looked up and felt his heart catch in his throat. he'd been almost afraid to look up into the tree's branches, knowing his childhood home had been burnt doen. but to his shock and surprise, it stood as if the flame had never touched it. "how-" but he already knew. magic. they had regrown and rebuild their family's tree, the protective magic of their forest most likely having done it within a week of it's distraction. "yes, please? will you come with me?" he stood and clutched at Elliot's hand, as if he were afraid to let go as he walked with him to the stairs built into the side of the three. they wound around the trunk and up to the front door. "this-i grew up in this tree." he whispered softly as they climbed. "i thought it burnt down in the attack, but it's here..."
