"One moment Daemon." Kenneth walked away from his friend and over to the new Ravenclaw. He stood and watched as she performed both the fire and water spells correctly. Once she had finsihed he made himself known "Thank you Lily for showing our new Ravenclaw here what the 1st years assignment was." He then looked down at the girl smiled and said warmly "I'm sorry that I didn't hear you come in, I'm Professor Reynolds by the way."

 Panda turned around."It's okay."she smiled.Even though she was still a little new to magic it worked instead of back firing or not doing anything.

"Just wanted to make sure, didn't want to seem like I was ignoring you. And it seems that you handle yourself quite well with this spell. If you wish to practice some more then you are more than welcome to stay. I'll just be over there" Kenneth pointed to the far side of the room, where he and Daemon had been talking. "If you wish to leave now, then that's fine as well, and I'll see you on Monday."

[[ Start of a new day and school week. ]]
Kenneth was up in his office filing though some paper work while he waited for class to begin. He could hear the muffled chatter of the students as they filled into the classroom below though his closed door. He looked down at his Grampa's pocket watch that he had sat down on his desk when he arrived in his office, it was nearly time for him to start class. He reached down pulled open a drawer on his desk and dropped the paper work inside pushing the drawer closed before he got up from his chair. After stretching out a few muscles that seemed to have gotten cramped while sitting his is chair, he picked up his watch and wand then opened his office door and descended down the stone steps into the classroom proper.
He walked around to the front of his desk and sat down on the edge of it facing his students. "Good morning class, today we are going to have a different kind of lesson. In fact I really wouldn't call it a lesson at all." He paused for a moment to direct his attention to the backboard beside him. With a flick of his wand the words 'Open Forum' appeared on the its surface. "Today I'm going to hold an open forum as it where, and let you all decided what you wish to discuss. Whether it be a Dark Creature, Defense spells, Hex's, Jinx's, you name it and we shall talk about it. All I ask is that if you wish to speak, raise your hand. I don't want all of you asking your questions all at once." He looked around the room and then asked So who wants to be brave and ask the first question?"

Sparrow quickly went to sit down as the class began. She got out some parchment in preparation for the new lesson and waited for professor Reynolds to start, and when he did she was surprised. She started thinking of some questions and thought of something that was interesting. She raised her hand and said, "Professor, What is the best spell to use to defend yourself with no matter the situation? That might be opinion based, but what do you think? There are so many good spells to use for different occasion." After she asked it she thought it sounded slightly silly.

Kenneth smiled at Sparrow, of course a Gryffindor would be the brave one and ask the first question. "Excellent question Sparrow, but do remember to wait until I've called on you next time. Alright as for you question. It all depends on the situation you find yourself in. Now the basic shield charm will no doubt protect you from most Hex's, Jinx's and some minor curse's. However more powerful curse's will need to be shielded with more powerful shield charms such as Protego Horribilis, and Protego Totalum. However none of those will protect you from the Unforgivable Curse's especially Avada Kedavra. Not only that but there are some dark creatures, Dementor's for example that need to be repelled with a more specific spell, such as Expecto Patronum." Once Kenneth had finsihed with Sparrow's question he moved on to the next. Spotting Panda raising her hand he called on her next. "Yes Panda what is your question?"

Alex walked into the class quietly so she would not disrupt class. She walked over to an empty seat and started listening to the lesson or well the questions being asked

Sparrow blushed. She had forgotten to wait. She had been too anxious to ask a question and forgot about the waiting part. She often forgot about waiting and usually just said the answers. She wondered what the point of her raising her hand was then. She quickly wrote down what the professor was saying before it was forgotten.

Amelia entered quickly, though this time she sat in the back of the class. She wanted to view over it. Sure, she'd have questions and probably enter the discussion, but she also was looking at it from an outside view. What made this class special? Olli had volunteered to let her practice on her, as long as Ammy fell victim to the same, so was the class actually necessary? He'd let them loose to practice spells, usually. He just gave the incantation, then guided those who made mistakes. Amelia had been lucky so far, managing most incantations without too much difficulty. Would that change? Silently she raised her hand.

Panda cleared her throat then said,"I should probably know this but,what exactly does a Dementor do?"It was a dumb question no doubt about that,but she was new so why not?

A dementor. That was not in the first year book. Amelia lifted her gaze to Reynolds, wondering what it was as well. Maybe it made people demented? No, some thing in the way Panda had said it, made it seem much more serious than that. Amelia waited patiently for the answer.
