"Yup!" Naida grinned from ear to ear, "I did last night, or that's what Mom told me."
She had been surprised to find herself with a chest and much longer tail, and hair. She loved that though, it meant more to play with later.
"Sorry about your food."

"Eh well it was mostly gone anyways," River grinned. "Don't worry." She peered down at what was left of her food. "Um, can you pass me the maple sugar drops at least? Those will still be good enough to eat."
She pointed at the three candies which were lying on the ground, half buried in the grass.

Miyuki, who was probably closer to them than Naida was, carefully set her plate aside and bent over to grab the candies handing them to River.
"There you go," she looked up at Naida, "Your hair got longer."
This was probably why her and Naida got along so well, they liked to play with the hair. Naida though more so than Miyuki.

"Thanks!" River blew on the candies, then rubbed off what little dirt they'd collected, then popped both of them into her mouth together.
She looked Naida up and down. "You're tall like your mama now," she commented. "Just as pretty, too."

Naida blushed with pride, she was really pleased at that.
"Thank you," she smiled brightly, "Will you be watching the swimming races later?"

"You bet I will!" River beamed. "And I bet it'll be you or your mama or your uncle that wins! Because no one else here has tails like you do!"
And since it really was the tails that made them fast swimmers, it was a cinch that one of them would be the winners.

"I think it's a toss up between Mom and Uncle Ryu," Naida replied, "I just grew that's going to make it awkward for me."
She honestly didn't know who, her Mom was quick sure, but her Uncle had more power and she knew that too.
"Does it feel weird growing that much?" Miyuki asked.
She had only grown in bits, but Naida had really shot up and developed a lot. Miyuki couldn't imagine herself doing that.
"A bitttttttttt...." her cousin admitted, "I'm not a kid anymore."

"You still going to be racing, then?" River asked, blinking at Naida. "If you just grew ... Celebor tells stories about when he grew, he said he was always so tired for the first while."
The archery contest was beginning, and already two archers had been disqualified.

"Well.. I'm not sure," Naida admitted, "I really, really want to, but I hadn't expected to grow."
And it wasn't often she would get a chance to do something like this. Still, River was right, Naida wasn't quite herself since her growth.

"Then maybe you'd better just rest this time," River suggested, a little absently, her attention caught by the archery contest. "You'll have other opportunities, after all this is an event that happens every single year."
She watched as another archer was disqualified, and his opponent went to the back of the line.

"Aww...." Naida replied as she leaned against River, "But it's hard to get the years exactly right, and you won't be here next year right? Will you be going sailing too?"
She envied her Aunt for going sailing, she wanted to see the open ocean too.

"Sailing?" River turned to Naida, taken by surprise by her question. "Not that I know of. I'm going with on the trip around the Four Lands, but Mama and Papa would never let me go sailing without them, not while I'm still a child anyways."
Perhaps when she was older ...

She wondered if this meant there would be an inbetween visit her from aunt and new uncle.

River hadn't known that. She assumed that they would come back here, but then, she was a child, and she hadn't been around the others during that snowstorm - how was she to know what they might have cooked up during that time?
"Maybe I am, then," she admitted softly. "I really don't know."
She frowned. She would need a lot more clothes, then ...

"Well you could ask, I mean for all I know maybe they'll take you back here before going on that trip," Naida offered as an explanation.
That was always possible too, she didn't know when they were going sailing after all.
