Kal activates Blur and attempts to spike the sergeant's leg with a sudden slash.

1 Kal fails, the sergeant recovers from his stun
2-4 Kal succeeds. Sergeant is immobilized and takes minor damage.

Results:Upon reaching the sergeant's proximity, Kal stumbles forward in an overcompensating lunge, missing his intended target. The dwarven sergeant growls in defiance and shakes off Erron's previous stun.

Erron continues his momentum, after striking the sergeant and knocking his bodyguard down, he turns back towards the leader of the troop and decides that he is his current opponent, He sees Kal attempt to strike the leader and a thought strikes him, hadn't he heard somewhere that when a leader of an force falls, chaos descends? He was sure it was something from a book of tactics...Sen-Sue? something like that. He runs at the ranking soldier and as he closes he jumps again, aiming a flying kick at them man's chest.

((Wow... that sucked. Hmmm. ))

Kal tripped and rolled himself to his feet, attempting to shift into the shadows again. He wondered if he could help now that the leader dwarf was un-stunned.

1-3 fades into shadows
4-6 another failed attempt.

((hmmm, it won't seem to let me edit my post... So... sorry about this double post. ))

Kal could feel eyes on him still, unable to fade out of view in this jumbled battle. He could feel his skin still buzzing though, his blur still having a little more time in it. He prayed that it would continue to last as he saw Erron attempting a aerial kick. Kal had to quickly judge that it would be best to aim low again, enabling a downed commander, if all went as planned. He sliced his shortsword through the air at the dwarf's calves.

Tjaden scowled at the continued conflict but made no move. Since nobody had attacked him, he would maintain his distance. At least than he could claim not to have injured any dwarfs

1-8 All attacks hit. Combat ends.

Results:
Kal stops short of the dwarven commander who is lifted from his stubby legs as Erron's aerial kick sends him hurtling backwards. Before Kal can finish him, he bellows out to them:
"Bloody 'ell. What are mercenaries like you fightin' with the elves for? Most mercenaries can't fight like that. We surrender."

Erron stands from the landing crouch and quickly tries to explain

"We fight unlike mercenaries because we simply aren't, we're couriers of a sort, there's something suspicious going on in the continent, Dragons and Gods may involved."

He motions to the rest of the party to explain the rest, he had to catch his breath.

"Bah..."

The dwarven sergeant was primarily bitter over losing a fight so easily.

"Aright, if ye're not mercs then ye sure as bloody hell didn't come here ta just pass through. I'll take ya ta our field commander an' he'll decide what ta do with ye. He be a priest o' Murgoth 'imself. So don't try any funny business, 'specially you, you dress-wearin' ones."

The last words were more out of fear of the unknown than actual threat as they were directed towards Selce and Erron.

"How odd that you can be so harsh when it was you who surrendered and yet we let you take us to your camp." Tjaden said to the dwarf's comment about funny business.
"However, since this is in line with our purpose for being here, you can rest assured that my companions and I will not be an additionally source of violence in an already aggravated period of unrest."

Erron scratched his grizzled chin

Well...
MOST of us can be guaranteed, Brurag over there might still be curious about how you look on the inside.

Selce quickly set about calming down the dwarves whose hands had begun gripping their weapons with a sort of hold of "Oh god oh god oh god." disposition apparent in their stance.

Kal smiled at the similar sized Dwarf's surrender. And as much as he wanted to stab him and tell him 'Tough Tinkies' for the reason that they'd offered peace earlier and they hadn't taken it... He knew Erron and Tjaden would most likely not approve. He put his shortsword away and let Erron and Tjaden do the talking. Selce doing her goody calming of the dwarves. He wasn't a big talker and he wanted to kill the dwarves that had attacked them, not calm them down. He took a deep breath to catch his breath, and then calmed down to his usual state. He focused on the Sergeant, ready to be led to the Commander.

The dwarven sergeant led the group up a long hillside, passing several other dwarven squadrons who looked warily upon the travelers, but made no moves against them.
At last they reached the ramparts of a dwarven outpost on the ridge below the mountain citadel.
The wooden doors groaned as they opened and the adventurers were led inside. The smell of smithing and freshly brewed ale wafted and mingled throughout the air.
The sergeant guided them into a large round tent. Inside, multiple dwarves stood around a circular table with many maps spread wide across it.

"Look, we cannae give the knife-ears the south ridge, if we do, they'll sweep across the lower plateau in a matter o' hours."

"An' if we do give it up, we can be ready for 'em at the lower plateau with double the forces."

"Bah! Yer daft! Wait, who're these outsiders?"
"Well, Thorifin, these are...

Selce, in a rare burst of self-confidence stepped forward.

"Messengers from Haven. We were sent for multiple reasons, but the primary objective requires us to speak with your king. We came as diplomatic ambassadors and yet were attacked without any provocation by several dwarves thus far. We regret any loss of life, however the actions were unavoidable."

The dwarf in robed metal armor called Thorifin stepped forward.

"Look here, spellchucker. Ambassador, messenger, mercenary does not mean a bloody thing to me. What I care about is whether or not our city remains secure. Now ya say yer needin' ta talk with the king. There's somethin' more to it than that. Say what ya have to say ta me an' if there be any falsehoods to it, I'll know."

Kal followed the oaf-ish dwarf up to the round tent that seemed to be the center of the whole battle command center. He raised an eyebrow at Selce when she bravly stepped up to the plate. Then heard this... 'Thorifin's response. He laughed out loud. This was too good an oppurtunity. A rare occassion when the truth would sound most... untrue. He thanked Arra(Lady Luck) mentally and decided to have some fun with telling the truth for once. "There's an evil god, dragon, thing that's centuries, if not millenias old, and is out to destroy all the races. So far as we've gathered from a talking Squirrel statue, which happened to be a god, and a vision from our more nature-founded friend. Now, we need to get everybody to stop fighting so we can find this invisible, but powerful evil," he replied, chuckling at the end. It was the god honest truth... which made it all the better to relish their reaction.

Erron kept a straight face as he also added

"Lets not forget that our nature sided friend is also an elven ranger, you left that bit out."

Erron began palming around his robe as if searching for something he just remembered he needed, he patted around his abdomen with random sharp and multi pointed things falling out all the while. After a bit, when he had located what it was he was searching for, he fished it out and placed it gently on the table for all to see, it was a silver Ankh.

"This belonged to Ronus Gorn, a cleric I and the so called "spell-chucker" had escaped the clutches of a necromancer with. Not only is it highly likely he is still following us out of sight, I wouldn't put it past followers of the darkest of arts to have a hand in this civil strife for whatever means. The reason that Ronus does not bring this himself is because he sacrificed his life to save us from a dark creature known as the Bone Golem in the catacombs of Haven, without his help we would not be here with the information we carry."

Erron crossed him arms and closed his eyes somberly in memoriam

"...And," Tjaden added, "perhaps more pertinent to your charge of keeping the city safe, there is a slight possibility that the war you fight now may be against a misdirected enemy. If you wish to prolong this violence, I am sure we can notify your leaders later that you refused to pursue all avenues of preventing further conflict in the interest of being over-cautious." Tjaden's tone was even. He recognized the dwarf was just doing his job, but he also realized that among this culture, there was little time to waste on pleasant words. Dwarfs, according to what Tjaden had learned of them, were a practical people, better to just get to the point with them.
