Several small towns were now sporting sinkholes, and the lines in the ground from the tunneling worms were not blatantly obvious as was where they headed. the numbers of the golems was starting to increase again, and magical books, weapons, armor, trinkets, and such were being broken down and absorbed and filtered to make more.

Galesen gave a small nod to Luccan's explanation and smiled a little. "Yeah, mostly it is just surface elves and the drow, aside from that we don't have anything to say who is who." Though a look back to Nessa and he smiled again, it was kind of funny to see a person connect the dots over his origins like that. "Overall yes, I am just an elf." Chuckling a little to that before he finished off his drink. "But really to me I'm just glad to be living here among you guys, Andal is a plane of no worries and I'm glad to have been allowed to stay here."

"Why would mages mess with the plane?" Because that is what his grandfather was insinuating for sure. Nillrik wasn't stupid after all and he caught on pretty quick. "Wouldn't Brigade tell them to stop?"

Luccan gave a laugh. "Oh no. He's said it. Now we're all doomed to something horrible happening."

"I'll take a break from them after all of this is over. The longer we linger, the worse this gets." Looking around the camp, not seeing anything and thusly starting into the mine shafts. He would rather they were mulling around the place but from the looks of things they had started to tunnel outward. "He gave us written instructions but it's mostly a place item in space, activate and get out kind of deal. I know where to take it too." Leading her down tunnels to the makeshift space the other had set up her pulled out supplies and started doing as needed with them. "We're at an understanding though...if this doesn't work, Lucana has to sink."

the was slithering of stone on stone coming their way, along with the heavy thudding of stone feet on stone floor. they coudl feel the magical nature of the devices, and already heading for them. but the sounds were vastly larger then one would expect, obviously they'd found something and were able to increase their numbers.

"Who knows, my son. Sometimes mages think they can control advanced levels of magic, and they simply underestimate it's power. That can cause negative things to happen to the plane since they pull their energy from it." Petting through his hair gently, careful to avoid the spot where the knot was. So young and idealistic. "Of course they would. But let me ask you this, Nillrik. When your mother tells you to stop doing something you really want to do, do you always stop? And even if you do, isn't it tempting to do it anyway?"

"Nobody is just an elf. We all have pasts and origins and someone or something we identify with. Where did your people come from? There simply must be one subrace you identify with more than another. You're obviously not Obsidian. You look like an Arch, but that doesn't mean anything."

"If this doesn't work, I'm going back to Labyrinth and using runes on D'vinn. I'm letting you know that right now. Then we can sink Lucana." Which was going to be one hell of an explanation to the royals, wasn't it? Of course, it wouldn't be so hard to make them understand but the paperwork would be hell. "I'd really rather not fill out the paperwork required to sink it." Frowning as noises were coming and they weren't as expected. "We'd better move quickly, Ty. There's already more deaths involved in this than I like."

Galesen rolled his eyes and smiled, giving Lucien a small nudge. "Thanks, so if something does happen now you can blame it on me." He shook his head in amusement before looking back to Nessa with a raised eyebrow. "That's true, but I come from a totally different plane entirely, so things could totally be different over there Nessa. One of the major things that makes it so different for me is the fact that the surface had been completely destroyed at one point and forced everyone underground, so a lot of elves died and a lot of things were lost; not once have I heard anything about sub-races among the surface elves, it was always drow and surface elf, that's how it is still is even today. So I don't class myself with any sub-races here on Andal because of what happened back at my home."

He gave a guilty look to his grandfather, shrugging his shoulders. "Well...no not all the time. I suppose it would be a case of what mom called that 'good idea, bad way of going about it' thing, right? Even if you think you're doing something right, you could be doing something that's more wrong?"

"In other words, Nessa, there is just no arguing with him on it. He's a surface elf and it's probably better just to leave it at that." Though he gave on odd look as if he was feeling something. Hm, that was odd.

His ears also easily picked up the noise and finishing what he was told to do, he took her by the arm and pulled her away to the back wall of the place, scribing a rune that made him bleed a bit more but threw up a shield around them in return. "Maybe there will be a few more of the rocky golem type. Just be still and quiet."

"It's not something you grow out of, Nilli, but something you learn not to give into. We're always curious, always attempting to push limits and there is nothing wrong with that, as long as it's done properly and safely. But you are right, sometimes we don't know what's best because we've never dealt with such a thing before. It will all come together in the end."

"Everyone's family is from somewhere." No, she didn't understand why he wouldn't just answer her simple question. Luccayden was ever the peacekeeper and she merely shrugged and began eating once again. "Have you always lived underground? Luc and I once thought about moving there when we were little. Thought it would be this grand adventure, didn't we?"

She knew better than to scold him so she merely pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed at his cheek where the blood was steadily dripping down. He was going to be so worn out at the end of this. Watching the caves carefully, she cocked her head and tried to isolate the magical energy in her mind.

First came several of the worms, slithering into the room and opening thier maws wide with a kind of hissing sound, before several golems also came intot eh room, thier shape similar to the one that had fought with before. one of them picked up one o fhte littel devices, and looked it over. before biting on it..the little device blinked twice, then lit up, and the golem eagerly swallowed it, while those others grabbed at them as well and swallowed them. they even fed some to the worm types and picked up the bag, and took it with them...one golem, left behind and without a little device to eat, watching the two elves.

It almost looked sad it didn't get one....until there were implosion sounds...like compressors being fired off...and one of the little devices rolled into the room at it's feet. it picked it up, sniffed at it...opened it's mouth, before it sniffed at it again...and took a step out of the room, and made some kind of bellowing sound...and stomped off down the hall.

Galesen smiled at Luccan and paused for a moment, the elf seemed distracted. "Hey Luccan, is everything okay?" Though when Nessa spoke of living underground Galesen had to smile a little. "Yeah I have, for my whole life until awhile ago when I decided to move here." Though he really thought it was sweet that both Luccan and Nessa thought bout living in the underground, kids always had that kind of thing in their heads. "Well I wouldn't know about the underground here, but where I'm from it is a simple place. People try their best to live and work from day to day."

"I 'spose you're right." The man wasn't wrong too many times, he knew that much. Though he was still unsettled with this whole thought of things and not to mention earthquaked didn't make him happy at all. "I don't think I want to be the first at something. I'd rather be the second."

"Hm? Oh. I suppose...it just felt like something was tugging my rune mage knowings. But that happens a lot right now what with my level transitioning." Everything was surely fine. Luccan couldn't help but laugh at the memory. "We did. Thought it would be full of advenure and treasure and what not. Of course we didn't see the Obsidians as the threat they strive to be. Well, some of them anyway. Once we went through everything we'd miss though, like sun and weather and such, we decided it wouldn't be that fun after all. Of course we were halfway out of the forest by then."

Well...it seemed to be working. They were at least attracted to the thing and he hoped that they were drawing each other to the devices, probably through whatever form of communication they used. Quietly however they watched the lone one that was left behind as it inspected the newfound prize. It was safe to assume the others had fallen victim to the devices. However the actions that it displayed made him frown. "That can't be good. Come on."

Thusly letting down the shield and wiping at blood he started off down the tunnels after the creature. He was not going to let one play smart and make any of this worse.

It was sitting among piles of rubble that one could assume were the remains of the rest of it's comrades, trying to piece them back together and of course not succeeding. even trying to show the little device into the rocks to remake it's allies. giving the occasional bellowing sound when things were not working.

Looking at it's back, there was all sorts of metal and misshapen hunks of gems and stones, not the uniform look that they usually had. apparently this one had been made when energy and supplies were particularly low, and as such was malformed and not functioning correctly. it didn't know or possess the information to rebuild others or make new ones. it probably knew little then what to eat and how to eat it. Other then this lone one, however, it seems the devices, of which it had the only visible one, were being eaten/taken and working like they should.

Lateef loved these teaching moments more than anything else he did. It was so wonderful to see his grandson's eyes light up with a new idea or his face grow pensive as he pondered a long-time truth. "It's all situational, I'd say. Sometimes being first is best and sometimes waiting to see how things happen is best. You'll learn with time." Gently resting a hand on the boy's shoulder. "How about we go get something to eat, hm?"

Laughing along with him, she thought about the small bag they'd packed and the provisions they'd brought. Silly children had only packed enough to last for a few days though they'd been convinced that it was plenty. "We probably wouldn't have made it very far anyway. My dad was already coming after me."

Cursing silently in her head, she followed after Ty and looped through the caverns until they came to the sight of the lone golem sitting on the ground. Some part of Lhia's heart went out to him as he realized that his friends were gone. Those sounds were tearing her tender heart apart... "Ty...can he honestly do any harm? Wouldn't he have already gathered the energy if he could?"

"It's not the best when you're the poison tester, or the spell maker, or the fish bait." Lisitng off serveral things with a chuckle and a nod as he turned on his boot to follow after his grandfather. "Great! I'm starving! I didn't eat breakfast because I wanted to try to catch one of those birds and eat that but it didn't work out very well. I think I almost lost an eye." Covering said eye with his hand in demonstration.

"And I'm sure he would have done us both in if he hadn't seen us coming back toward home. Sometimes I dread thinking about how much trouble we could have been in."

To say the least, this was one that could be called the runt of the litter. It was a curious sight to say the least, as least as far as he could see through slightly red tinted vision. However the tone to Lhia's voice made him blink and turns his attention to her. "Don't go soft on me. We don't know what that thing can do. A lot of things look harmless."

It heard the voices. it reared up and around and bellowed at them, lifted it's hand in a fist as if to strike before it seemed to register them both, and bellowed again and ran further down in the tunnels. It had seemed to equate the deaths of it's comrades with their presence, and was fleeing rather then fighting.

If there was any of the 'hive mind' left, they were too far away to be able to aid, or not interested in protecting a defective brethren. most likely, they had all been destroyed..which would cause the last of the mind to panic since it was unable to rebuild it's fallen comrades.
