Lin giggled at that, "And it's kind of like his name too! But only kind of."
She smiled at the thought, that was so cool, and besides, she liked to have Earendil as an older brother (for all the time she spent with him). So that was cool coming from Daeron.

"Well... my word is shaky in their minds because I'm one of them. So they didn't trust my research," Lore admitted.
Which in his whole professional career stung, especially when he was use to being respected for his work in the city he settled in and beyond that.

Elnara's brow furrowed slightly, and she shook her head negatively.
"That isn't right," she murmured, more to herself than to Lore. "It's terrible. I mean, I've heard of it happening elsewhere, but ... it shouldn't be that way. It just shouldn't."
She sighed as they reached the edge of the city and started down the road to the base of the mountain.

Daeron chuckled at Lin. "Well, now you're learning some of our language," he grinned at her. His smile turned a bit sad for a moment.
"I haven't seen your brother since he left here that time," he murmured, "about twenty years ago now ... it's been so long."
He shrugged. "Though this is the first time I've seen Nara-thel either."

"Awww... maybe he'll visit again!" Lin exclaimed.
Maybe if she snuck Iris through the portal, though she was going to have to make sure to keep a hold of her niece somehow.

Lore sighed and shrugged. He would have to agree, but he couldn't argue against it. After all if the world was the way it should be, Elnara would be home among her biological family and he would be in the north with his family.
"But it isn't."

Elnara sighed again. "No, it isn't," she murmured softly. Then she smiled up at Lore and hugged him impulsively.
"But this is supposed to be a relaxing trip," she said softly, "so perhaps we should think of lighter things now, yes?"

Daeron grinned and nodded. "Yes, it would be really nice to see him again ... though this is the first time I've even been around to see anyone who has come here to visit us, so the likelihood of me seeing him if he did visit isn't very great."
He sighed.

Lore smiled widely hugging her back, just holding her more for him this than her sake. Just to know he could do something like that with another being, just like him.
"Yes, I think that would be good."

"Why not?" Lin asked. "Do you have to travel a lot?"
She knew that he liked it, but he made it sound like he always had to be on the go.

"Well, it's not as if I'm required to," Daeron shrugged in reply, "but there are times when I feel that it's best if I do."
He tended to get into too many fights with his father when they stayed too long in the same place.

Elnara was more than willing to stay like that for longer, but the day was already growing quite uncomfortably warm, and would be hot soon, so she thought it would be better to get going.
She cast her eyes up towards the city again. "I think we're a safe distance away," she murmured to Lore. "Ready?"

"But wouldn't everyone miss you?" Lin asked, "I'm sure if we were on the same time Mommy and Daddy and everyone would miss me lots."
So why would go keep going off like that?

Lore nodded, "Let's go."
He hadn't realized until she mentioned it that it was getting late. The librarian peered up, covering shading his eyes from the sun. Though his head didn't fill as hot as it could have been since his hair was such a light colour.

Daeron shrugged. "Yes, there are people who miss me, and I miss them, too - but some things just aren't meant to be. It's better that I'm not here so often."
He wasn't sure if she would understand it fully even if he explained all of it. After all, he knew that her family didn't have those sorts of problems - it was obvious not only from the variety of races within the family, but also in the way they interacted with each other. He hadn't seen much of it firsthand but he had heard a lot of it from his brother.
