"Doesn't long-distance cost more? The beacons are free to you," Toby offered. "So, if I understand correctly, this camp exists in a forest on Earth, but also appears here? Or are you traveling and plan to bring everything back to the forest on Earth?"
Toby looked around too then, smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I think they will be."

"I suppose so," Tav agreed, with a shrug. "I'll try this beacon thing." He gave another shrug, shoving his hands into his jean pockets uncomfortably. "Yeah. It appears here until we close the door. We won't be needing it anymore."
He studied Toby for a long moment. "Will you be happy here?" He asked. "You're a werewolf. You should stay here. We'll make sure you're happy."

Toby chuckled and raised a finger for each important facet of life that would miss him.
"Wife, son, brother, job, friends. Thank you, but I think I'll stay in Arizona. Now, I'm going to have to leave for a while to get everything set up. Would you like to come with me, either of you? We'll have to do some organizing, and we do have a fae ambassador if you'd like to talk with her. We also brought a fae man from Research who could talk to you about the carious creature-entities that need homes." Hopefully not too much time had passed.

"We could bring them," was Tav's immediate reply, but the teenager paused and frowned as Toby continued to speak. Oh... Well they probably couldn't uproot all of Toby's friends. Some of them were undoubtedly human... Were entities just as complicated as humans?
"I'll come meet your fae," Tav offered, then. "I'd like to know about the entities we'll be giving homes."

Toby turned to Tav's father. "And you, Sir?"
Clearly the father was in control, not Tav. Then again, maybe the king or leader or whatever he was would want his son to practice some leadership techniques on his own. Either way they could make it work.

"I'd rather not," said the father, and looked to his son. "This may be good experience for you, boy." He tsked. The younger fae didn't have the best attitude when working with people. "He's always making mistakes, maybe you can show him a thing or two about communicating with humans."
"Daaaaaad. I'm not that bad." Tav protested.
"You're awful at lying, too."

Toby smiled. "Executives get their kids cushy jobs at the top, not summer janitorial positions. Come on. You can help me get back here after."
"Alright, Nick, we're good. Meet us back at Headquarters. I'll call Mr. Merdin and let him know we're gone for the day. Toby, it's been twelve years, what are you going to do with yourself? Maia wants back child support, plus interest."
Toby huffed. "Very funny, Lor."
"I know I am."
Toby looked to Tav and pointed to his ear. "I have an earpiece."
The due walked back to the office building's parking lot, and Toby opened the car door for Tav to get inside. "We'll get to HQ a lot faster in this."

Oh. So he’d been messing up from the start! “So you knew right away?” He complained. “But I’m good at blending in otherwise, right? Textures are hard, though, I can never get the right shape.”
Nick gave Lori an affirmative. “You should’ve said three years, that would’ve been more likely,” he teased.
“Oh,” Tav said, and shook his head at Toby. “I thought you’d gone crazy. Talking to yourself.” Tav studied the car before climbing in. “It’s nice,” he said, “but the color is pretty bland. Go for a bright green next time.”

"I mean, we came looking for you, but you appeared out of thin air right behind me and made a sound. Humans aren't usually that quick to catch on, though. They'll deny anything is supernatural until they see proof, as you know."
"I didn't want to scare him!"
"I think we may have gotten security video of you... sort of. I'll show you when we get back."

Back at HQ, Toby led Tav to the meeting room.
"Tav, this is Maia, our fae ambassador, Agent Yraudhen, our Research guru, and Agent Ithin, the case lead."
"Lori is fine," Lori said, smiling.

“You’re no fun, Lori,” Nick laughed. “I’ll see you in a few.”
—
“Hi Maia,” Tav greeted the selkie with a smile. He took her hand and placed a kiss there. “Agent Yraudhen,” he nodded at the elf, and then scowled at Nick. “I remember you. You’re that annoying guy with the paper airplanes!”
“Guilty,” Nick grinned.

Toby arched a brow at the hand-kiss. It wasn't the first time it had happened, but he also hadn't known Tav long enough to be sure if it was a normal gesture from his people or an obvious flirt.
"We were both acting. It was fun, though, eh?" Toby smiled to Nick, and then gestured to a chair. "Have a seat. We'll call up the footage. In the meantime, we'll have to discuss getting the humans back out into the world without causing any conspiracy theories which, at this point, are probably true at least 12 percent of the time."

Acting? Tav studied Nick skeptically, looking him up and down. “I don’t think he was acting very well, he still looks obnoxious.” Nick smirked at this and took a seat beside Toby.
“I’m going to miss Ryan,” he teased. “I haven’t had that much fun annoying someone since Lori left.” He grinned, and pulled up the video on his iPad. “See, we caught you,” he said, offering it to Tav.
“Where will you say they went, if not aliens or something?” Tav asked.

Lori smiled and shook his head, but still tried his best to stay professional as he busied himself with his tablet. Nick beat him to it, though, so he leaned over and watched. It didn't really look like Tav. He was at least partially concealing his shape.
"I'm not totally sure, actually. Ithin?" They were going to have to figure out how to release these people, and how to do it in a way that nobody got left behind, nobody caught wise, and also nobody remembered the fae camp. It was going to be rough. "Do you have any opinions? I mean, we could memory-blast them and send them out every few days, but then they won't know where they are, and there'll still be a dozen of them appearing in the city at one time."

Nick's smile drooped. He'd hoped Toby would have had an idea--he wasn't sure there was any way to fix this situation. "I don't know," he admitted. "We might be ********. I'd rather not have to memory blast them all, that'll be a lot of paperwork, but..."
"You could just say they were at a retreat, or something. Something religious and dull, humans like that sort of thing." Tav suggested, with a shrug. "I'll work on improving my invisibility."

"Language, please," Toby warned. Being familiar with clients was no issue to him, but things had to remain civil.
"I do have ideas. Like Tav said, we could tell them all they were at a retreat, we can explain how otherwise they'd sound insane, a little about fae magic, maybe. Or we could 'disband a psuedo-cult situation.'" He added airquotes. Then he turned to Lori. "Tav would like to look into taking in creature-entities, by the way."
Lori turned. "Oh? Great! I'll go grab the paperwork. Are you alright with that?" He was asking Tav.
