Kira had sorta zoned out not really hearing ryou. She had been thinking aboutrei and a small tear sliped down her cheak.

Ryou sighed, realizing that she wasn't listening. He shirted Kai so that the boy was on the floor, and leaned forward. He wiped Kira's tear away with his thumb, wincing at another, fainter, pang in his chest. He wasn't sure if he was just sympathizing with Kira or what. He decided to not say anything more, to leave Kira to her thoughts.

Feeling ryou she wraped her artma around him and gently pulled him beside her on the the couch. She nuzzed into his shoulder more tears comming to her eyes.

Ryou tensed initially, but then relaxed quickly, holding Kira close. She was clearly upset, and he wished there was something he could do or say to make her feel better. His shirt was sticking to his chest, and he suddenly realized why this was, and what the pain from earlier had been. An intense feeling of relief washed over him, but with a looming dread. He ignored the latter emotion and felt tears in his own eyes; for both Kira's sadness and his relief.

"Nobody is teasing you." Ryou murmured, shifting carefully before stroking Kira's hair. "They might have changed their mind about you-- or at least enough to let you see her. You might get to visit her regularly. You hear about these kinds of things all the time."

Ryou shrugged slightly. "Tell her who you are. Explain that you had been going through a really hard time when she was a kid. She might not even want to know about you-- she might just want to tell you about herself. Just... don't mention her father." Ryou didn't know if Rei would be asking about her dad or not, but he didn't know what kind of answer she would get. Rei was Ryou's child, in a sense. Bakura had a practically identical body to Ryou's at the time of... well, of the rape. Now he was within Ryou, somewhere.

Ryou shook his head, pulling away from Kira, just slightly. "I'll be fine on my own. You should probably go and... I don't know. Think things over. This isn't something to be rushed into."

Ryou hesitated. He really would have preferred to be left alone for this, but if it would take Kira's mind off of her daughter-- then he was fine by it. "Okay... I guess. Let's not go to the mall today."
