Araris swung his blade high, decapitating the wolf edging in on his right, then raised his shield to block a blow that left his arm numb. He was breathing ragged, obviously fatigued by Battle, and it was starting to show. He began to be a bit more conservative, taking small nicks and cuts here and there, where it was simply too much energy to dodge or block them. He needed his energy for fighting.
His Men were still fighting as well, making their way step by steady step twords their Leader.
Araris' attack had been extreemly reckless, he would admit. But it had worked. He hadn't been trying to take on the entirety of the remaining wolves by himself, he was simply leading by Example. And it was working. The Leigionares' moral was high, and they were performing at their best, shouting encouragement for Araris, and challenges to the wolves.
The wolves themselves, now, were begining to thin out. Here and there one would lose his fight, and fled. It was obvious they couldnn't win, by this point, but most continued to fight on, for whatever reason that had brought them here in the first place.
Araris, for his part, simply continued to do what he'd been doing. Cut. Thrust. Block. Dodge. Thrust. Block. Block. Dodge. By this point, he'd made his way through the crowd of wolves to the Wall, so he could at least have somthing to his back, so he didn't have to worry about getting speared. He was exhausted, but, he judged, he would be able to hold out until his Men reached him.
Unfourtunatly, Araris wouldn't be able to simply fly away, as he might normally do, for a hit-and-run. And, for the same reason, no Skyknight Leigionares would be able to get to him. That reason was this; Whenever anyone took to the Skys, they were immediatly fired upon by several dozen Wolves in an unknown location. However, they weren't shot at with simple Bows and Arrows, or even Javelins, they were being shot at with some strange new wepon. It fired a heavy metal bolt, about three feet long, at least several hundred yards. Not only were they extreemly accurate, even at this distance, they were extreemly powerful. They'd learned to stay out of the skys when, unexpectedly, one man got hit with a Bolt, which went through both his Armor, His Stomache, the Shield strapped to his back, but then continued to go on and spear the man in formation behind him.
They didn't know where the fire was comming from, or how or what kind of wepon was being used, but for the moment, they'd simply have to win the old fasioned way; And that was what they were trained for.
