"You've got yourself a deal Flannery!" Mitsu said remembering her other Pokemon. Wait till Haku becomes a Kingdra. Now that'll be a fight to remember. But for now she'd have to settle with the Pokemon before her and the battle at hand.
Karri rubbed her eyes a bit, feeling drowsy already. Before falling asleep though she loosed a Thunderbolt at the Torkoal. Mitsu gripped Nightmare's Pokeball. She was about to recall her Psychic companion before she remembered the rules. I'll be sure to give him a good fight before letting him rest. Nightmare deserves it.

All this talk about bonding and training made Keegan feel sick to his stomach. As much as he wanted to watch the battle, he knew he couldn't. He moved out of the way as Kilik entered the area, feeling like the gaping hole in his chest (metaphorically, of course) were growing larger by the second. He paid hardly any notice to Rena, only backtracked a bit, still keeping the two battling Pokemon in sight. The Absol in Kasiya's possession was new to him, but he thought little of it. He'd acquired a Geodude in the time they'd been apart.
It was a mistake coming here, the boy thought sadly, changing his position once more so he could watch Kasiya. She doesn't need me dragging her down. He sighed, turning on a heel and walking down the hallway, finding his way out of the gym and its mazes with little problems. He made his way down the street, sitting on the stoop from which Kasiya had tackled him to the ground. He smiled a bit, but it faded rather fast, and he buried his face in his hands, elbows resting on his knees.
He still wouldn't cry, though.

"Weeee!" Mike cheered, standing atop Nitro's back and flailing his arms, pretending he could fly as well. "You're lucky Nitro, you can actually do this!" He said with jealousy, remembering Kilik's odd friend with the Charizard wings. He wondered if it was possible to get functional ones, that would be really great.
The Charizard rolled his eyes, spotting their destination. He circled down, landing with an uncharacteristically smooth descent. Mike hopped off, smiling at Nitro. "Thanks again buddy, you're the best." He recalled his friend, thinking some rest was only fair. Looking around, he noticed Keegan, a rather downtrodden look on his face. "Hey man." He said with a small wave. The boy decided against talking to him, he was always the type that preferred to be left alone when unhappy. Mike walked the short distance to the Fuschia City Gym, opening the doors and stepping inside.

. . . And Steelix succumbed to the massive, powerful wave. The Iron Snake Pokemon crumbled onto the ground, causing the whole gym to shake from his weight.
The sandstorm died away nearly immediately, now that its creator was defeated. It seemed strange, as just a moment ago, it was raging so intensely that it might've even been solid; now, the arena was quiet, with the ground torn up and muddy from both the sand and the water.
Jasmine smiled sadly, recalling her Steelix; it was inevitable this time. "Good job, buddy," she whispered, tucking the Pokeball away once she minimized it. A moment later, however, her smile brightened, and she came to Nina by ways of the sidelines (there was no way she'd be able to maneuver the arena itself gracefully). "Great battle, Nina," she grinned, taking Nina's hand and shaking it gently and firmly. When she pulled away, a silver badge rested on the Psychic's palm. "You definately deserve this Mineral Badge. And," she added, walking away momentarily to a in-wall drawer and rustling through it for a gray disk and a neatly tied bundle of crisp money, "here's $4ooo and a TM for Iron Tail, the attack that Steelix had been using.
"It was an honor to battle you."

"Starmie, move!" Misty nearly screeched, hands balled into tight fists. Its reaction times rather good, Starmie dropped down, one of its appendages being clipped by the shadowy orb. The Mysterious Pokemon used its remaining momentum to carry it into the depths of the gym pool. "Now use your Swift attack!"
Seconds later, a barrage of crystalline stars shot out of the water, their precise aim set on the Flareon.

Krystal watched the massive beast fall, and despite the fact that she was hovering, she felt her own body shake a little bit. Before she knew it, she felt something strike her lightly from behind-- it was Nina using her Ultra Ball to recall her.
Nina was speechless as Jasmine handed her her winnings-- she looked at the badge in her hand and admired it with a sparkle in her eye. She pinned it to her trainer card in the space after Chuck's. A few moments later, she received the money and TM from Jasmine, pocketing it with a smile.
"Jasmine, I..." she said increduously, not even knowing what to say. "Thank you. All interruptions put aside, I'd like to thank you for such an amazing battle. If you don't mind, I'd love to have a rematch with you someday." Nina smiled, and exchanged Pokenav numbers with the Leader, and gave her a hug. "I'll keep in touch, okay? I promise. And... I'm really, really sorry about your floor." She blushed a little bit, before telling her good-bye, and pivoting around on her heel.
She was escorted to the door by Whitney and Raimundo, who kept congratulating her. When Nina arrived at the exit, she turned her head to look at Jasmine one final time, and smiled.
Then, she stepped outside...

Keegan looked up slightly, eyeing Mike for a second. "Mike, how's it going?" he asked nonchalantly, watching his childhood acquaintance head off towards the gym. "Party in Fuchsia," he mumbled, before returning to his moping.
His mind kept replaying the morning's previous events, despite his best efforts to forget. He shouldn't have gone home. He shouldn't. But if he hadn't, his parents would have lost their home, and their business. "It's the way it has to be," he sighed, looking up at the bright blue sky, dappled with puffy white clouds. "I may not like it, but there's nothing I can do about it." He looked at his shoes for a moment, and clenched a fist. "I can't sit around here and mope for the rest of my life. I've still got five Pokemon by my side. I'll just go and get myself another fire Pokemon." He nodded, slamming his fist into his opened palm.
At that point, a middle-aged man walked past him, eyeing the boy curiously. He stopped, delving into his pockets and throwing some loose change at the boy. "Get a job, kid. The streets aren't friendly to homeless beggars, especially crazy ones who talk to themselves."
Keegan eyed the man incredulously before he picked up the few coins. "Wow Mister, thanks a lot!" he grumbled sarcastically. "I might be able to buy a newspaper or a stick of gum with this!" It wasn't until the man had already left earshot when Keegan realized he should have been defending his status. After all, he wasn't homeless, or a beggar. He sighed, and picked himself up, jingling the change in his hand. "Things will get better," he said to himself. "I just have to let them."

"Great, I'm looking forward to that," the gym leader grinned. I like this Mitsu a lot better than the one I met before, she thought with a smile. "Okay Torque," she called, watching the Fire-type wince after being struck by the lightning. "Fight back with a Flamethrower!"
The adorable young Torkoal shook her head back and forth, focusing her fire powers into a concentrated jet that was sent straight for the drowsy Karri.

Kasiya saw Koga's eye twitch, and she gulped, feeling guilty. "I'm sorry, Master Koga," she said, flinching from his cold stare. "I didn't mean to be rude."
In Casimir's eyes, however, what actually was rude was the second attempt at poisoning him. The attack connected with another clone, causing it to vanish, leaving only two fakes, and the real Absol. He pawed the ground anxiously, and each copy did the same, waiting for his next command.
"You're doing great, Casimir!" the girl grinned, feeling another pair of eyes on her. She turned her head a bit, and saw Kilik watching her out of the corner of her eye. She also saw Keegan look at her once, then turn and disappear. Where is he going? she thought sadly, definitely determined to finish up this battle so she could find her friend. I can't pretend like there's nothing wrong anymore. She turned her concentration back to the battle, and pointed at the gooey Pokemon. "Let him have another Aerial Ace!" she called, watching the telltale blade of wind slice through the air.

...And Nina let out all of her excitement that was inside of her. "I DID IT!" she exclaimed; "I BEAT HER! I ACTUALLY BEAT JASMINE! She started to jump up and down in happiness, not caring that it had started raining harder than it was before she went inside.
Raimundo looked on with a bit of an amused expression playing on his face. "Wow," he said, turning to look at Whitney, "if she gets this excited, I'd hate to see what she'd be like if she beat the Champion of the Elite Four, or something." Whitney chuckled. "Rai, are you like, kidding me? She'd never get that far."
Too excited from her win, she didn't notice the comments her friends had made. "I know what I need to do now! I need-- I need to go to the Pokemon Center, and heal everyone up! Then we can go and I can challenge another Gym, and-- No. Wait." Nina calmed down for a moment. "I don't need another badge," she said pensively, a grin slowly creeping on her face, "I need another Pokemon! I need a Delibird... No! A Clefairy!"
And with that, she dashed off like a madwoman, towards the Pokemon Center, leaving her friends in the dust.

Unable to defend herself Karri was blasted with the Flamethrower before subcuming to the deep sleep that Yawn had induced. Mitsu gritted her teeth a bit, sleep had never been one of her favorite alignments when inflicted upon her Pokemon.
"C'mon Karri! Wake up!" Mitsu said glancing over to the Torkoal and her trainer. Her prompting, however, was in vain as the elegant and gracefully Pokemon continued to sleep. Karri hovered slightly over the ground even in her sleep and showed no signs of waking anytime soon. Wake up! Mitsu thought shuting her eyes closed and hoped for the best.

Koga shook his head and made a star with his fingers. "Muk! Use Haze!" The ninja master thrust his hand forward. With this thrust, a bluish mist emitted from Muk's mouth just as he took the Aerial Ace again to the shoulder. Koga flinched against the pain, bringing a hand to his 'wound'. He looked over to see Kilik eyeing him from behind his challenger.
The Haze soon enveloped the battle field and disappeared almost as soon as it came. The two remaining Absol copies vanished in a flash, along with any other changes in strength the real Absol may have made. "Now Muk! Use Sludge Bomb once more!" Muk tossed his hand up into the air and had the large lump fall in Absol's direction. However, it was almost futile; Koga and Muk both knew that if this attack should fail, then Muk will fall.

Oh man. Talk about close calls, Kilik thought with a smirk appearing on his lips. Seems like Koga's getting a bit beaten by Kasiya...Wonder how far they're into it? The boy tapped his pointer finger on his arm, watching the battle intently. Granted, there wasn't much Koga could do against continued Aerial Ace assaults; the move never missed. So what if Muk could have gone with a Minimize? It still would have sustained the damage. He heard a collection of footsteps as Rena approached him from the hallway.
"I'm gonna go back out and look at the Safari Zone animals, okay?" she whispered. When Kilik nodded, she smiled and walked back down the hallway, finding her way out of the Gym.
She's got this battle. Let's just hope that Koga doesn't bring out who I think he'll show... he thought.

To his surprise, Mike saw a familiar white coat and red headed cutie walking ahead of him in the Gym. "Kilik!" He shouted, then grumbled, his friend disappearing in a revolving door as he called out. "Drat." He snapped his fingers, wishing he was just a moment sooner. He had a question to ask him.
The Gym looked odd, a slight tint of purple apparent on all corners. Mike saw a large flat room, but noticed the trainers were all placed randomly, facing all directions. "What a weird Gym." He said to himself. Walking forward, his stride was interrupted by some invisible barrier, which Mike smacked his face into. "Agh!" He cried, jumping back. Another Kecleon?!
"Halt!" A confident voice rang out, echoing throughout the seemingly empty room. "Those who seek to challenge Master Koga must get past me first!" A young man stood before him, sporting spiky black hair and long blue overalls. He noted Mike's unhappy gaze, letting out a curt chuckle at the boy. "I see you're stumbled upon Fuschia Gym's trademark invisible walls," He said. "if you best me in combat, I will lead you to our master. My name is Shawn."
Thank goodness he wasn't another rude and cocky Gym attendant. Mike thought to himself. "Alright, you're on!" He accepted, quickly thinking what Pokemon he should use.
"Go Sandslash!" He threw out a Great Ball, revealing a rather cute looking Pokemon. Mike remembered Kasiya had one, and knew it's type was Ground.
Mike unclipped an Ultra Ball, a devious smirk on his face.

Flannery did feel a little bad for attacking while Karri was asleep, but if she'd done otherwise, it would not have been right. "Again, Torque! Flamethrower!"
Taking a few steps forward, the jolly-looking little Torkoal took aim and let out another strong blast of flames towards the snoozing Psychic-type.
