Tao watched as Meren fell in battle with wide eyes. He saw that she looked at him right before... well. His eyes widened further at the green light as Meren reverted to an egg. He never saw or read anything about something like this before, well other than the enveloping of light bit and attack moves. This was different...It was almost like a blessing from Dialga. His mind turned and realized this meant the Meren he knew was no more. The mudkip would be born and live once more but wouldn't remember it's previous life. He gritted his teeth in regret as he bent over the egg. He picked it up with shaky hands. And carefully handled it putting the object in one of his pockets. His mind now began to weigh his options. The only pokemon he had left was an injured recently-caught pokemon. The situation couldn't get worse since he had no idea how he'd back to the ferry ship that guided him here since he arrived, or rather, was thrown into the volcano area. He supposed there was no option but to go forward. After all, aren't there so many people who survive in the pokemon wilds? Who was he kidding, a shut-in like himself couldn't last out here without a healthy pokemon to defend himself. The last thought made him grimace. And then anger rose within his frail shell. We'll see about that. He stormed off to see the summit of the mountanous volcano.

Mudkip [F] Meren, Lv 2 Nature: Timid Bio: Meren was given to Tao just before being shipped off to Akumu academy. She hands a good amount of teamwork to Tao, as she is very obedient, but she never stands up for herself. Her introversion might have been caused by some sort of abuse prior to meeting Tao. Meren is unsure of what to think of Tao so far, since the only experiences they really share is a boat ride and a pokemon battle. Despite his attempts, Alexander was still blown away. He landed on his side with a splash and was once more covered in mud and grime."...At least they blew me in the right direction..."the boy muttered as he got back to his feet. The landing had been rough, so he was even more sore now than he had been, but he was still able to walk, so he continued onwards.

It seemed the boy had been blown rather far indeed, or at least far enough away for his liking. For the time being, he was able to travel undisturbed. How long that would last for, though, he would not dare hazard a guess.

Alexander was really beginning to make some progress now that he didn't have to worry about any battle-happy pokemon harassing him. He didn't expect the easy bit of traveling to last long, of course. There seemed to be several pokemon that had a bone to pick with the students coming to take pictures. The boy could hazard a few guesses at why, but that didn't really help him any.
Further in and further down. Only an idiot would think going into a deep, dark cave that seems to crackle with heat and energy was a good idea. Unfortunately, you don’t seem to have much of a choice anymore. The only light comes from the strange glowing rocks that spark when you get too close to them. And the temperature feels like it’s rising. Be care, stick to the sides, and keep your head up.
Since Tao had decided to continue, he would see a big change from before. It would seem he was in a new area!

Perched on a nearby lilypad, a Yanma calmly watched the boy. If the kid didn't bother him, he wouldn't do anything. Just stare~ Stare really hard. Stare into his soul~ Otherwise he was free to move onward~
The Heatmor looked at the Froakie, looked at the trainer and then remembered a conversation with his brother. All humans are bad. Do not get caught by a human. Do not interact with them. Fight or kill them. The pets they have are useless as well. This information his brother had tried to ingrain in his brain. The Heatmor glanced at his claws and then tried to send a blazing Inferno at the Froakie to start the battle off!
As he reached the top of the volcano, he realized there wasn't much place left to go, unless he wanted to take a dive straight into the heart of the volcano. He was turn and leave when a cave entrance caught his eye. He paused. He pondered a few moments about how safe it would be going into the cave. He made a questionable choice of going into the cave. He was going to see this mission to its end, and that would be that. Much preferably, the successful kind of ending but either might happen at this rate. He entered the warm cave, and thought about all the possible pokemon he could find within. It didn't take much for Tao to know that caves, no matter what region will have the Zubat evolution chain. There was also a good chance there'd be solrock and torkoal as well since the cave was part of a volcano. He began to proceed through the tunnel, taking curious notice of the molten rock in the caverns he was entering.

Tekken wouldn't need to be told this time! He decided to jump straight up to try and avoid this hero's Tackle attack. They were both worn down, but his trainer had a plan- probably. His trainer preferred to keep things close to his chest rather than informing him what he had up his sleeve. Though he doubted it mattered, if he said anything now then the Corsola would catch wind of it.

Tao let out a faint sigh. As he quietly made his way through the caves, he gazed at the walls laced with molten rock. The darkness of the cave with the warm somehow had a calming effect on him. It was as if his mind was sharper here. Or it was just him and he still looked like a bundle of nerves. He continued to make his way carefully making sure that he didn't get burned by anything.

The two watched one another for a while, it for whatever reason it felt like and Alexander to make sure he wasn't caught off guard if it decided to attack him. Eventually, though, the boy broke eye contact and continued on his way. No reason to pester the bug, especially since he doubted his ducklett could survive an encounter with a caterpie at the moment and even if he did overpower the insect, he had nothing to catch it with. Stupid pokeball-eating bog.

Alexander suddenly realized that, off in the distance, he could see what appeared to be open water. The shore! He was almost at the shore! It still looked to be a ways away, but he was now so close that he was almost certain nothing could keep him from getting back to the school now! The boy quickened his pace as he picked his way through the bog.

Kiani's actions would ensure Lily's protection, but not her own. The boulder would slam the girl to the ground as it bounced by. It wouldn't be enough to crush the girl, but she'd still take some damage... fortunately, as the boulder had rolled off down another tunnel, she was free to continue forward.
