KeiranKeiran's paw felt its way across the surface of his neck, feeling for any injuries. He didn't twitch under the angry gaze, nor the harshness of the Absol's words, but the remaining fear was still quite evident in his eyes. He felt as though he were merely facing the lesser of two evils, but he couldn't really be so quick to judge against the other male. He'd likely be just as alarmed, if he were the one to walk in on such a scenario. At the demand, he cringed a little, reluctant to explain. It was generally a tale met with rather.... limited support.
"...A lot of things, if you want the list," he admitted with a grimace, "She's a member of the Tribe of Racing Shadows. The morals of the Tribe are different than the ones you follow here in the guilds. We are trained assassins; our fur stained black at birth or upon joining, for the purpose of conforming to the Tribe. Similarly, we're not allowed to evolve, or question the laws of the Tribe in general. The penalty of disobedience is often death; those who betray the laws are sure to do it again. ...My friend evolved; it was accidental, but what's done can't be undone. I helped her escape, and since then I've been subject to strict watch by our leader's daughter; Celeste. As you can tell, she doesn't like me much. Since our arrival with the guilds, I've come to see a lot of... faults in their logic. I wish to leave, and with that comes the penalty of death, according to Celeste. She will follow the law of the Tribe until her own death, I believe."
His story seemed twisted, in someways unbelievable... but that was the way it was. "...I think I should just write all of this down, at some point. It would save the the effort of explaining why my team captain wishes to see my severed head on a platter." There was a dark hint of humor in his voice, this time, feeling more secure in Celeste's absence. With any luck, he wouldn't have to deal with her again for a while.
"I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're not exactly of the same mind as she is?" he questioned quietly, his vibrant teal eyes fixing on the scythe-wielding canine. The blade which sprouted from the side of his skull was sharp and deadly. Absol were known for it, and the set of shorter claws and deadly teeth were no less intimidating. Unfortunately, he was rather used to intimidation.

.::Stark::.Stark let out a long, audible sigh as the Riolu finished his story, shaking his head slowly, his stance getting more relaxed, less intimidating. He looked at the Riolu before him. He looked a little scared, sure- but he stood in the faintest of ready stances, his ears perked, listening for any sound that would betray an attacker. Whoever he was, he was ready to be struck at any time, simply waiting for what seemed to be just one more assault in a long line. Rough time, thought Stark, thinking of some of his own less-than-fond memories- memories that still made his scars itch to think about. Stark exhaled loudly again, and shook his head. "I'm not gonna hurt you- you can be clear on that. Just as long as you're not the one trying to hurt people, and it's pretty clear to me that you're not." Stark looked in the direction that the Chimchar had fled. "So she's your captain? Rough break, there- I've had my share of crazies on my tail, but I never had to live with any of 'em." At this thought, Stark had an insane thought of him sharing an apartment with Faust. Pushing away that nonsense with a grimace, he looked back down at the Riolu. "...I don't suppose you have somewhere else to go? Where she won't be waiting to kill you?"

KeiranThe corner of the canine's mouth twitched, amused in spite of the rather dark conversation. Try to hurt Celeste? The idea of looking for Celeste was almost comical, now. It was surprising to think that at one point, he might have done just that. At one point, he would have sought her out as keenly as any other Tribe member. Now? Now was a different story. He knew what the guild members were like, and he knew what it was like with the Tribe. There was a definite sense of welcome, here. Crazy as it was, it was a lot better than where he'd come from. No, he could certainly think of safer ways to be an idiot.
Keiran shook his head sadly, twitching as the scorches, dried grasses rustled behind him. His eyes darted to the source of the noise, only to allow his guard to drop ever so slightly. 'The wind. He was always edgy after attacks like that. She'd launched successive attempts before, and there was little reason remaining for her not to hang around. After all, what guarantee was there that his latest companion would stay near for very long? She knew better than to leave entirely, in most cases. With any luck he'd beaten her into a full retreat, this time. '...Better safe than sorry, he remedied, reminding himself not to let his caution die away just yet.
He tilted his head a little bit, still listening to the Absol beside him. "Mmm... here and there. I have a place or two left to hide in emergencies, but nowhere permanent. I tend not to stray too close to the surrounding villages, though. Collateral damage would be a little high, all things considered." His voice was smoother, now, more deep and serious. Coming from a Pokemon with as small a form as his... it was almost surprising. He couldn't look in a mirror and take himself seriously; he looked like a child. "I'd ask if you know of anywhere I could stay for a short while... but it is perhaps not the best idea to discuss it here." One didn't have to glance at the partially-destroyed garden to understand why.

.::Stark::.Stark hummed pensively. It was as he feared- the Riolu had no place to go to hide out from his crazy captain. No place permanent, anyhow. Stark looked around the Courtyard, keeping his eyes and his danger sense open. The first rule about assassins was never let your guard down- even if it looked like they'd run, someone could be waiting to kill you around any corner. Stark's fur bristled in anticipation- the Riolu had it right. The Courtyard was no kind of place to be at this moment. No defensible positions at all. Stark wondered about what to do next. Ask him. Stark flinched. Boros' intrusion was more sudden than usual.Beg pardon? You know you want to- so ask him.Ask him wha--Aaaaaaaaaaaaasssk hiiiiiimm to come live with uuuuuussss~Stark flinched. That was an odd request, especially for Boros. Er... why?Why not? said the demon happily. He obviously knows how to handle himself. He needs help, and considering what a bleeding heart you are--I am not a--A, don't interrupt, and B, I share a head with you so I know for a fact that you so totally are. And anyway, what's the problem? We have some extra rooms, don't we?Stark was puzzled by Boros' momentary altruism for only a second more before it struck him. You're just hoping that Chimchar attacks so you can fight her.Boros gasped melodramatically. Why, sir. I am insulted that you would insinuate such a thing! It's true, though--Well, of course it's true you git, but an insult is an insult! There's a shot of Jack with your name on it, mister, if you keep making cracks like that....Foul play. I call foul play.Stark tuned out the voice in order to think clearly. Of course, there was still some logic to Boros' reasoning, all things considered. The Chimchar would be less likely to attack Keiran while there were so many people around to stop her- especially if he was staying with Stark and the others. Eleven highly trained Officers was a daunting task to overcome for just one Riolu. And- as previously mentioned- Stark couldn't very well leave the poor kid(?) to die. "Um... listen. I have an idea, but, as you said, we probably shouldn't talk here. I can take you back to my team room, and we can discuss things in private. Without worrying if someone's going to kill you. Sound good?"

KeiranKeiran nodded solemnly, his teal eyes narrowing slightly with thought. He had to assume that the other male understood the implications of helping Keiran. It might put him in danger, though Celeste likely could care less about those whom he surrounded himself with. 'That's part of the problem, Keiran,' he reminded himself silently, his spirits immediately dampened by the thought. As if they'd been bright to begin with. Regardless, he had someone who might have at least a partial solution to his problem. Judging by the scars that raked and marred his face and flanks, he'd had a lot of experience in battle. He was likely to be strong, or at least sensible enough that he wouldn't find himself in too much trouble if Celeste decided at any point to make an appearance around him.
He was still a little reluctant, deep inside, but he agreed that it seemed a fair idea. At this point, an ideal solution to any part of this situation was welcome. "Thank you," was his only immediate reply, gesturing for the Absol to take the lead. He would stay relatively beside the older male, if only for the purpose of keeping each other in their sights. He was still wary of where Celeste might have hidden herself away.
"My name is Keiran. Just Keiran; we don't carry surnames in the Tribe. Yours?" He'd never actually gotten the Absol's name. It didn't seem terribly strange, considering the circumstances. When one came across an attempted killing, they generally didn't pause to make a formal introduction. Or if they did, they were likely to be quite foolish. There wasn't the time for such trivial matters as that, when lives were at stake. Now, however, it seemed more suiting to find out the name of his companion. If he was going to once again turn to other guild members for help, he'd like to at least get their names. He was reasonable, at least in the sense that he liked to repay those he felt grateful to.

.::Stark::.Stark nodded at the small Pokemon's thanks. "You're welcome. I just don't want to see any more senseless violence after all of that... nonsense."I do.STOW IT.Stark began to move forward, stopping only when the Riolu- Keiran- introduced himself. Stark turned back slightly, then faced forward again. "Call me Stark. Stark Dravin." He started walking forward again. "Do try and keep up, and follow close behind. Your... "friend" will be less inclined to attack if she can't just pick you off."And then we can hit her. Kekeke.Later, perhaps. Now shut it.[[Proceeding to Team Blacksteppe's Abode]]
