"Know what?" Azaroth frowned trying to think of something he could know that would make Rowena think that she couldn't come back. He knew the date went horrible and even if it hadn't, while he wouldn't be thrilled, it wouldn't be a reason for Ro to leave like that. Then what could it be? The fact that she was acting strange, different? That she was starting to let down that seemingly impenetrable shield she always kept around herself? A sad smile touched his lips remembering that was how she'd introduced herself to him, a Charms Mistress working on the perfect shield. And she had perfected it, he realized. She kept her emotions locked behind it, anything that she saw as a weakness, was there, safe from the rest of the world. But with everything that had happened her shields were failing her...and she was looking for another barrier to keep...

Ro curled up on the floor and rested her head on her knees, letting her hair fall around her covering her face. Her mind was racing but she couldn't come up with a solution for this... not without abandoning Synne and Erian... or dragging them away from their family. She couldn't do that to them but she couldn't stay there another minute! Her body shook a bit as she let a few tears fall... at least she was alone and no one could see her weakness.

Azaroth had frozen, transfixed by what he saw in the mirror. She's...crying. He could see the tears, watched her trembling and felt torn between his need to go to her and his attempts to respect her need for her own space...

Ro shuddered and let out another scream of frustration... she couldn't figure out what to do. She needed a distraction. Gathering herself together, she stood and left the house and apparated to a random spot in the valleys. She looked around... it was completely isolated.. perfect. She gathered her magic and began the process of creating a new house

Az sighed watching her work, unable to forget that she was already exhausted and the extensive use of magic would only serve to further drain her...

It took several hours and severely drained her magic.. but she managed to complete a basic house. She could extend later. She took a breath and swayed a bit as she observed her work "Well.. this will do for now... at least it gets me away.."

She sighed "Ok.. now what?" She'd have to get her stuff... and she just knew Synne and Erian would throw a fit. She leaned against the door and groaned "Ugh... I can't win no matter what. If I stay I hurt me... but if I leave I hurt the kids... bugger." She had to decide what was more important.... her own feelings or the kids happiness.

Azaroth's mind had been racing. She must have known. She must have realized how I felt about her and didn't want to risk anything like Helga happening all over again. Not that he could blame her, that was his own fear. He'd felt the jealousy rise up while she was out with that sorry little vampire and had wanted to strike out at him... "Wait-" his train of thought was interrupted by something she said. "'I hurt me'?" not 'he'll hurt me'? "Rowena, start making sense," he muttered rubbing his temples. "I don't know what to do..."

She sighed and sat down outside her new house "I'll have to pull myself together and deal with it.. I can't do this to Synne and Erian." She pulled at her hair "I just have to push it all back and stop slipping in front of Azy... hopefully he didn't figure it out.... the worst is he could throw me out... and I have this place now..." She winced a bit at the thought that he would be so disgusted that he wouldn't want her around. She hoped if that was the case he'd still be nice to the kids..

Azaroth frowned, "And we're back to square one." He shook his head. "What is this Ro? You fear hurting yourself if you stay..." he watched her carefully. "You fear leaving, no - you fear the idea of me sending you away..." He groaned aloud, "What do I have to do to convince you that would never happen..."

She sighed and stood up, apparating back to Az's house and slowly walking inside, swaying every now and then as she made her way to her room. She was already trying to pull her normal face on... refusing to fall apart again...

He slipped from the library to watch her, following her silently and staying close to the shadows. He didn't want to alarm her or scare her off again, not when he was so grateful that she had returned on her own, but he had to make sure she made it back to her room alright. At the moment it looked like she was about ready to fall over.
