Beacon let out a window cracking shriek as Loki was sent out onto the playing field, he apparently hated snakes. Without hesitation the Ampharos turned tail and began to run to his trainer, the urge to battle had come and gone. Unfortunately for Beacon it wouldn't be that simple. His legs seized up from paralysis, granting him a face first trip into a big puddle of mud. To make matters worse, the Sludge Bomb impacted the downed Ampharos, dragging him through the wet ground even more. Mike struggled to subdue a laugh, but lost in the end at the sight of his very misfortune Pokemon's very unamused expression. Beacon stood up and wiped off his face, letting out a disgusted whine as he watched a combination of mud and toxic sludge drip from his out-held flipper. He looked to his trainer with pleading eyes.
"Alright alright." sighed Mike. "I think you've earned a little break. You did great anyway." He lifted an Ultra Ball and recalled his Pokemon.
Oh joy, a compliment! Beacon honked in glee as his form was sucked back into the ball, the filth that was once around him succumbing to gravity's unwavering pull and splashing to the ground.
"There may yet be hope for that one." Mike said to Keegan with a shrug, wondering if he had any Pokemon as 'special' as Beacon. Probably not, all the weirdos seemed to find him. The rain began to let up, granting the boy a moment to shake out his hair and fix it up. Rain is so annoying. he thought with a groan. Looking around he spotted a rather annoyed Flannery toying with her own hair. Mike smiled a subtle but wicked smile as he eyed the Gym Leader's wet clothes desperately cling to her figure, accenting her lovely curves. "Okay, it isn't so bad." He said to himself with a happy grin.
Mike looked at Loki intently. He was far from an expert of Poison Pokemon, but the Arbok didn't seem that big. I mean, sure, with Pokemon sometimes the small ones will be the ones to level buildings, but he had fought a few Ekans in his time and figured he knew enough about them to make a judgment call. Besides, he knew Helios was his strongest. "You know what? I just want to get this over with. I'm hungry." Mike said to himself as he unhooked another Ultra Ball and sent it flying. "Time for a heavy hitter."
As the light subsided, there was Portabello, standing tall. His composure quickly faded as he began to sink into the mud. With a grunt he hopped out, landing on a solid patch of earth. Delightful. He thought-mubmled, looking up to meet his opponent eye to eye. Oh, it's Sir Keegan. the Breloom smiled and waved at both boy and snake before turning back to Mike for instruction.
Let's make this quick buddy. Mike felt his stomach rumble as he spoke with his Pokemon. I'm sure you're hungry too.
I could go for a bite, actually. replied Portabello. The idea of a battle and a good meal was sounding better and better. Okay master, what now?
Start things off with a Headbutt and we'll see how he reacts to that. Mike thought, smiling as he watched his Pokemon rocket off towards Loki. Portabello never disappointed him, he was always quick on his feet and very smart in battle. It was only through Mike's folly that the Breloom ever really failed in battle, like the battle yesterday with Kilik when he let his ego get in the way of clear thinking. Hope you're not sore about that P.B.
Not at all Master. thought-spoke Portabello as he began his attack. He picked up speed, the Breloom's clawed feet made for good traction in the mucky ground. The Mushroom Pokemon crouched down as he reached his target, leaping into a spiraling Headbutt, aiming for the center of Loki's frill.

Serenity inspected her mudkip very carefully, making sure that the nurse was careful to heal everything. George wriggled in his trainers arms. Just because it was his first battle doesn't mean that he was careless enough more than a few scratches. Once his trainer seemed satisfied with his condition George was returned to the floor of the pokecenter where he was free to bounce around and chat with some of the other pokemon that were there waiting.
There was a bright poster on the bullitan board that caught Serenity's attention, so while George was making new friends she went over to read what it was all about. It was an advert for the beach party in Slateport, something she was already aware of, but the part that caught her attention was the fact that Professer Rowan was giving a seminar after dinner. 'Alex never mentioned anything about a seminar. She especially didn't mention that Rowan would be bringing some of the pokemon from the new region.'
"George, come over here." Sere called to the bouncing blue pokemon, who was talking to the bellsprout in the corner. George ended the conversation and went over to his trainer who picked up up so he could see what ever it was she was looking at it.
"Look, Professer Rowan is bringing some new pokemon to the beach party on Saturday." She squeeled with delight.
"Mudkip! Kip!" He said. Although he couldn't properly express his shared excitement he hoped the message got through with his bouncing.

'If I wait until tomorrow to leave I'll never make it to the party in time.' Serenity thought. She nuzzled George and put him back down on the floor.
"Lets go." She said.
The two of them went back outside, where the sent of the flowers filled the air. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath and tried to take in every sent that she could, since it would probably be the last time that she was in Petalburg for quite some time. She looked up and saw that the sun was already lowering it's self in the sky.
"We should forget about getting any badges here George. I know you wanted to test your strength out in a gym, but we should starte heading to Slateport. It's quite a long walk."
"Kip kip!" He replied.
"Maybe we'll stop in and get you a friend on our way back to Oldale." Sere said. She bent down and gave the tiny pokemon a pat on the head.
The thought of having someone to talk to other than his very strange trainer was exciting for George. Besides he could use someone else to share the nuerocies a bit. Spread it around.
"I hope we don't meat too many other trainers around. I don't think I could handle talking to anyone else today."

Both Keegan and Loki had burst out laughing at the sight of Beacon face-planting the mud. What a sight, seeing the Ampharos covered in both muck and sludge. However, Loki blew a loud raspberry at Mike when he recalled Beacon. He'd liked the look of the large, yellow... thing and he hoped that at some point he'd get to play with it again. Soon though, his attention was diverted as he suddenly realized it was raining and he began to snap his jaws at the falling raindrops, hissing in annoyance as they suddenly let up. It was seemingly a day for disappointments, according to Loki, anyways.
Now Keegan wouldn't really call Loki 'special' per se, but the Arbok was probably the most amusing of all his Pokemon. The redhead was somehow able to remain calm at the sight of Portabello and he jammed his hands even deeper into his pockets. Mike's done playing around, he thought a bit dejectedly, looking to Loki even as the Breloom raced across the muddy battlefield. He hadn't actually noticed that no words had been said as Portabello launched a Headbutt attack; he only called for Loki to brace himself. This is gonna hurt, he thought, fearing for his partner. The Arbok clamped his jaw shut as he saw his new opponent coming towards him. As much of a joker as he was, Loki wasn't stupid and it was easy to sense that Portabellow was a lot tougher than he was. The Arbok lowered himself into his coils and let his body relax a little, becoming a smaller target as the Breloom slammed into him.
Keegan had never witnessed any of his Pokemon take such a hit in the entire time he'd been a trainer. Portabello rammed into Loki with such force the Arbok was knocked back a bit, ruining the chance for a quick counterattack. As much as he hated to see his Pokemon being smacked around like a pinata it made him realize just what he did miss out on that day when he captured a Taillow instead of a Shroomish. He didn't regret capturing Artemis, not at all. If anything, it made him want to go back to the Petalburg Woods (god-forsaken bugs or not!) and capture a Shroomish of his own. "If we're gonna get taken down, we're gonna get taken down fighting!" he shouted, clenching a fist. "Loki, Crunch attack, go!" With surprising speed (not to mention that being an eleven-and-a-half foot snake kinda helped), Loki lunged out towards Portabello, fangs bared as he aimed for the Breloom's offending cap.

"Damn." was all Mike could say as he saw Loki get hammered by Portabello's Headbutt. He certainly didn't want to be on the other side of his attacks, that Breloom was a beast. Maybe using you was a little overkill? He sighed, soon people would be disallowing him to fight too.
The Breloom landed gracefully following the attack, his feet making small 'pish' noises in the mud. Apparently so Master. replied the Pokemon, his voice calm and modest as always. He wiggled his head a bit to shake off the slight dizzying feeling that followed every Headbutt, a light puff of toxic powder escaping his large red pores and drifting into the wind. Using his head was always tad disorienting, but few things felt better than scoring a direct hit on an opponent in battle. Portabello's gaze instantly shifted back to his foe, raising his clawed hands defensively as he heard Keegan call out for an attack.
He knows he's done for. thought Mike. But he's going down fighting like a man. Good show Keegan! The boy smiled at his friend's stubborn attitude, it was something the two shared. No sense in running away if you're going to lose anyway. You have to fight until the end. Never compromise. Portabello, counter with a Facade attack, let's end this fight.
Will do Master. the Breloom replied. Portabello focused on his opponent as he watched Loki slither towards him. He moved with a good amount of speed for not having any legs, but it was his lack of arms that would do him in. As Loki shot forward, fangs bared, Portabello threw his body back, using his tail to catch himself. Portabello lowered his stoic expression and let a slight smirk slip by as the Arbok's teeth snapped at nothing but air. A worthy effort friend, but futile! shouted the Breloom as he pushed off the ground like a spring, extending his right arm as he flew towards Loki with incredible speed.

Keegan allowed for a tiny smirk as he watched Portabello avoid Loki's deadly fangs, and he couldn't help but wonder if Mike had battled other Arbok in his time. They were a fairly common species of Pokemon, after all, but Arbok like Loki were far and few between. Even as the Breloom launched himself at Loki, stubby little arm extended to strike back, Loki reacted quickly and dropped down, wearing a smirk of his own as he felt the wind rush by overhead. Portabello had missed him, but not by much. What happened next was quite unexpected and even Keegan had to think for a moment to piece together what the crafty Arbok had attempted to do. After ducking the blow Portabello had thrown at him he swept out his long tail, attempting to somehow trip up the Breloom and cause him to fall. The Arbok had then made a hasty retreat, slithering away quite rapidly with plenty of getaway time to spare. Even if Portabello had avoided the trip attempt he still would have had to recover somehow. Either way, the next time Portabello looked up Loki would be nowhere in plain sight, as the large cobra was now unsuccessfully trying to hide between a startled Keegan.
"Loki!" the redhead shouted, wheeling around to face the snake. "What are you doing? Don't run away!" However, the end of the sentence never came as Loki let out a hissing noise that sounded like laughter before he swung his long tail around again, sweeping Keegan off his feet in one fell swoop and causing the boy to fall flat on his back with a loud thud and a cloud of dust. Keegan groaned and sat up, rubbing the back of his head. "I guess that's Loki's way of saying he's done..." he mumbled, looking up at Mike and Portabello sheepishly.

Mike could only grumble at Loki's skillful dodge, he wanted that attack to connect. "Stupid snake." He sneered.
Portabello was also quite surprised at the Arbok's evasive move. He had thrown all his weight into the punch, and without a target to soften the impact, inertia took over. The Breloom flew right over Loki, raising an eyebrow at the snake's thrashing and subsequent retreat. Gravity kicked in, sending a skyward Portabello to the ground. With a graceful flip he landed in front of Keegan, leaning over to spy a now cowering Arbok.
Both Mike and Portabello laughed as Loki responded to his trainer's annoyed inquiry with a swish of his tail. "I guess that's your answer Keegan." said Mike as he wiped a stray tear from his eye. Loki's mischievous behavior reminded him of Nitro's occassional harassing attitude.
Now that the battle was essentially over, Mike walked over to his friend, holding out an open hand as a gesture of sportsmanship. "Not too shabby." said the boy with a happy smile. For the first time in a while, he felt like the two were finally on good terms again. Nothing like a good battle to mellow things out.
Portabello nodded approvingly at his Master accepting his win with modesty and clapped his hands together, showing his own humble nature with a bow. It was an honor to battle with you Sir Keegan. The Breloom glanced over to Loki and tipped his cap respectfully. I do hope I did not harm more than your Arbok's pride.

Ebony hissed-laughed upon being acknowledged by Mr. Hat. He stopped his floating dash as soon as he was near the purple Aipom, skidding to a halt in a dramatic fashion that was totally unnecessary. He was a rather hyper little ghost thanks to the mounds of candy, ice cream, and desserts he had consumed that day. A hyper Ebony was one who not only loved to pull pranks but just acted plain crazy at time. When he was more sane he would wonder why his purple headed trainer fed him the sugary sweets anyways. She can't be as clueless as she always seems! Right?
"Mr. Hat. Mr. Hat. Why are you following the shiny, magical napkin?" he asked bobbing up and down a bit from excitement. He eyed looked around Luffy to get a better glimpse of the napkin of wonder. "It's getting away!" he wailed before pulling on the Aipom's tail to try and get it moving. "The nap-pi-kin is getting away!"
And indeed "nap-pi-kin" was getting away! It paused, hovering in mid air like a magician's clever trick, before turning a corner and disappearing from sight. Where could his trainer have gone? I mean really, he just left for a stroll in the night and the guy disappears! Gosh, that was his ability! Some human shouldn't have been able to do it.

Mitsu tucked her Pokenav back into her bag after she had finished putting in his number. She didn't really know of she'd ever call, especially with his mute attitude but she decided it was better to have the number for those rare just in case moments. She felt a slight, familair chill run down her back. It was Ebony of course, probbaly escaped after dinner. No need to worry he was good at hiding and escaping so he'd make his way back safely. But as a just in case she decided to scope out the town a bit in search of her purple Pokemon. "I don't suppose I could convince you can I?" Mitsu said with a slight laugh. Ah well, she tried. "Anyhow I've got to go pick something up for Apollo here," she lied patting the horse as she spoke. She recalled the silver horse into his ball before dashing off. "See you tomorrow at the party Crenu!" she said and waved good bye.
A few feet into the city now the building began to increase in height. There was a especially tall one that resembled a hotel. She could hear a person exiting, but didn't feel the need to increase her pace or slow down by the building. Who ever came out would see her and she'd see them ether way.

"Mystery Napkin is getting away!" Luffy exclaimed jumping up in surprise. Glancing away he looked and the Mystery Napkin was flying away from them! That was no good, it was also no good that he wasn't dressed for sneaking around. Glancing around Luffy tried to find something that would do for what he needed for sneaking around. Finally he saw it! A long blue strip of fabric was fluttering on the edge of the trash can. Making a happy sound Luffy dashed over and plucking Hat from the top of his head he tied the blue fabric strip to his head. The big grin on his face was unmistakable, he was no longer channeling his pirate captain namesake and he was now channeling the legendary soldier! Now he was ready to stalk the Mystery Napkin.
Nodding at the flying purple pineapple Luffy dashed forward and peaked around the corner. He had to be cautious, he didn't want the Mystery Napkin escaping. Dashing forward he did a roll so that he was now hiding behind a trashcan. Luffy was in no way sneaking very much, he felt like he was being great and thats all that mattered. Glancing over he spotted the floating purple pineapple and waved at it with his tail. They had to stick together!

Mazarin had decided to take a midnight stroll. His confrontation with Kilik was less than friendly and he wanted to clear his mind. For once, he wasn't being a total goofball. He ran a hand through his silver hair and sighed. "We used to be best friends. Why does he hate me so much, man!?" he placed his hands on his temples and pressed, growling to himself. If those Charizard wings would let him breathe fire, he would.
"Verdanturf was always in a hubbub about Kilik!" he snapped to the night, "Oh, he was on TV! Oh, Kilik got his sixth badge! I figured if I went out into the world, they'd talk about me!" he punched his palm, "That little backwater town never has any good trainers go through it, save for me and Kilik." Mazarin fixed the straps holding up his wings and placed his hands on the opposite shoulders, left to right and right to left. He sighed again.
He saw a girl walking down the road, wearing a purple skirt. Maz raised his eyebrows and let out a low whistle, then moved towards her. "Hey, Missy." He said, slipping his hands into his pockets nonchalantly when he caught up to her, "Why are you way out here in the middle of the night?"
Kilik sat up in his mattress and looked around. His small barricade that he built to separate M.A. and himself had been knocked over and M.A. was gone. He let out a low mumble that sounded something like "at least she didn't wake me up" then fell back to his side, immediately falling asleep once more. Dreams suddenly began to plague him.

Mitsu looked up spotting a guy with Charizard wings. How odd. Let's hope he wasn't as mute at Crenu had been. It appeared not as she walked up to her letting out a low whistle that she barely caught. Ahh, this didn't seem like and ideal situation. "Wandering," was her one worded answer. Well, before she decided to add more of course. "It isn't that late now is it? And you're out and about as well." She slightly wished Karri was there, she would have had a more clever response.
Ebony laughed at the Aipom, his own grinner doubling in size, if it was even possible. "Shiny Nap-pi-kin!" he cried in dispair as he shot forwards to meet Mr. Hat who was now sporting a blue headband and was hidig behind a trashcan. "Don't let him get away!" Ebony said as the shiny nakpin decided to start floating up and above a wall. They had to hurry! Otherwise that napkin would make a huge escape and he'd never get to know what it was!

Seeing that Ebony was dashing forward Luffy let out an exclamation, the spiky pineapple was going to give away their position! Using his tail he tried to grab onto the ghost pokemon but his tail just passed through. "Ak! I can't touch you!" Luffy exclaimed in surprise, he didn't know that that could happen. "Wait spiky pineapple! We can't give away our position!" Luffy of course didn't realize that by being so loud that he gave it away himself. This probably would be bad but the shiny napkin didn't seem to really care that it was being followed.

Mazarin put a pinky in his ear and rotated, placing his other hand on his hip. "Yeah, well. A girl shouldn't walk about so late. She could get hurt." He brushed his pinky off on his pants and then looked around. "I'm just out to clear my head. My buddy Kilik chewed me out just a few hours ago and I figured some air would be nice. He can be so testy sometimes..." he shook his head and sighed.
Giovanni was busy in his office, filing paper work. Mostly electric bills to keep the Gym and Lab operating and fully functional. His Persian bumped up against his leg. "Settle down," he snapped, "You've got plenty of attention today." The man stood up from his desk and snapped his fingers. A Grunt entered the room in casual attire then took the bill and an envelope to mail it. Giovanni was using a clever pseudonym: Ivo Nagani - a slightly odd name, so he had papers filled out that he was from a far away country.
"I've got so much on my plate right now," he grumbled, "And I'm actually nervous about those blasted kids ruining my plans!" He punched the wall and left quite a dent. Persian cowered into the gap in his desk. "Those rare Pokemon will be mine," Giovanni growled, "then, when I harness their true power, I will be unstoppable!"

"But you're screaming," Ebony said with a frown. And Spikey Purple Pineapple? Ah whatever, at least he got the right color. I mean seriously was Mitsu colorblind or something? He was clearly a lovely shade of purple not some 'ebony!' Anyways he was getting side tracted again! The napkin would escape if he kept zoning out! "Follow it!" Ebony cried as the napkin moved up and over the wall. "ETZ GETING AWAY!" he wailed failing his arms franticly before floating up the wall to try and catch up with it. "Hurry Mr. Hat!" he called looking down at the ble-headband wearing Aipom.
At least the guy didn't turn out to be a total smoozer, Mitsu thought. "I've got no problems with injuries," she said flashing a smile. The smile was highly ironic to herself because she could heal herself, only that hurt too. Oh well, she'd master the arts in time. "Ah, Kilik? Odd meeting one of his friend's," she said with a slight laugh. "I'm Mitsu, by the way. I don't know Kilik all that well but I guess I could call him a friend."
