The Komodo watched him take up... and then fall flat on his back, an even more.. preditor-like grin flooded her face ... hmmm so easy... She moved closer eventually stopiing and putting a clawed hand on his chest looking down at the wheezing prey

Zach looked up between the branches at the starry sky. He found himself quite peaceful with death for a moment, with Joliette's savage lizardlike hand pushing him down, then stopped. He couldn't die just yet. He had to get off of this island... or at least find a way to get back to normal. He wasn't going to roll over and let Joliette eat him. He took a deep breath and waiting for the predator to come to him. It hadn't been so welcome in his mind lately, but now it was his only hope of surviving the night.

Besides, that had to be one of the lamest ways to die ever concieved. Having a girl EAT you.

The beast was all too eager, mentally shoving the human aside, its presence shifting behind Zach's yellow eyes, until there was little about his expression that didn't look lethal. It waited for the human to battle it, but there was no resistance. The creature was pleased, it could get used to this. But there were more important issues at stake, such as a next meal. A growl escaped his throat, and he pulled back his mouth, exposing the four large and dangerous teeth. His eyes were locked on Joliette's, and muscles tensed in preparation to escape his vulnerable position.

She reciprocated teh growl her fingers flexing digging into the male's chest her tongue flickered quickly, the Komodo was ready to battle for it's own meal, it's growling empty stomach wanting to be filled

In response to the clawing Zach rolled aside, though blood was drawn as her claws scratched into him, and started to get up, not feeling as confident on three legs as he did on two. He growled again. The vine around his neck was a pressing issue. He'd have to stay close to the tree and kill the other near it. He took a few uneasy steps back as he tried to gain some ground that would let him move around more. He held his one hand out with his clawed fingers forward, defensive. There was a steady trickle of blood from his chest where her claws had pierced his shirt and skin.

She looked up at him as he moved away, and then slowly stood, bringing that hand which had scratched him to her lips putting her claws between her lips for a moment... this only succeeded in driving the human conscious of Joliette deeper and hte Komodo closer to the surface as it tasted blood. She was calm... and studying him, calculating her next move, she was just barely out of reach of where his hand was right then

Zach continued to growl as he watched her, backing up further and further until his back hit the tree. He lowered his head a little, letting his horn-tips point forward. He stopped, and licked his lips. He'd eaten almost nothing in a few days, but he couldn't rush things. She'd come to him... and he'd pierce her brain with his fangs. Then he could eat.

The grimace on his face became more of a grin just thinking about it.

She stepped forward with his backing up, the Komodo taking some advantage of martial arts as she quickened her step moving to knock his arm to one side , ohhh so tasty... her other hand went at his chest again though she dodged the horns as he lowered them, she attempted to stay out of the direct reach and path of his fang-like teeth

Zach had his arm pushed aside by one of hers. There was another thing that would have to change if the predator hoped to stay on top of the game here. Having only three legs simply wasn't practical.

He moved his one arm and awkwardly parried her claws with the scaly top of his forearm, just in time. He twisted it around again to grab her arm and yank her closer. He'd sustain a little injury from her as she struggled, most likely, but as long as he tasted some blood... he opened his mouth wide in preparation.

The yank caused her claws on his chest to dig in more she too was more then ready to taste blood, to bite and tear at the flesh. Though she used her hieght to her adcantage raking her hand off his chest to duck under his arm moving to sink her teeth into the arm that held her own.

Zach ignored the sharp pain of her claws in his chest and the teeth in his arm, and swiftly lowered his head at hers, intenting to bite her squarely in the forehead and impale her brain. So close...As soon as his teeth scratched the skin of her head, he was forced to stop.

A familiar jolt of electricity hit him in the back of the neck. His yellow eyes rolled, and he crumpled, slipping down the tree with Joliette's teeth still in his arm.

Evidently whoever had been watching had waited until the last second to stop Zach.

A familiar feeling soon took over Joliette as well, she too lost consciousness and crumpled much like the day she'd heard the git say those 3 horrible words, her grip on his arm relaxing and falling away as she landed on the ground next to him

Emelyn's jagged knife- which she'd temporarily lashed to a long, sturdy branch, seared through the air... piercing the animal's neck and severing its head from its tiny body. Only when Emelyn found herself grasping the handle of her makeshift spear, the end of which was firmly planted into the earth with the force of her strike... did she pull back and let her head fall back on her neck- limp, like a depressed Pez dispenser.

"Damn it," she cursed, tugging the spear out of the earth and tucking the long handle under her arm. The end wagged slightly with the lack of support as she bent over, touching her knees and moaning.

"Poor little snake," she said, "...I'm sorry little snake. ...I didn't know I was going to... well..." she stood up and sighed, tipping her head onto a shoulder, "...Decapitate you."

Emelyn had only seen the little willowy green snake moments before- and her reaction had been (before the deadly attack) not one of fear- but rather... hunger. Desire. She'd struck without even realizing, and now- found herself stomping her feet and rocking back and forth, exhaling obnoxed sighs.

"What am I going to do with you now?" She said.

Greer walked carefully through the jungle, arms held close to her body so the wings wouldn't snag on anything. Since Colche hadn't come to eat with her, she'd decided that hunting was a better choice. Maybe she could sneak in some flying practice while she was at it.

Cocking her head, she caught a faint noise from off in the distance. Hmm. Could be a furry little meal. The winged woman turned and headed towards whatever it was she'd heard.

Em was still shifting from foot to foot, pouting and feeling quite sorry for herself- not to mention the 'dearly departed' when Greer came through the brush. Emelyn didn't know this at the time, however. ...Not because she hadn't seen/heard the woman- but for the sake that she did not recognize the hawk-woman. At least, not at first.

"Erm..." Em said, giving slight way to her hedgehog mind, asking if this large bird could be seen as a predator. Almost laughingly, the animal answered that there was no way a bird would attempt to pick through the spines- not when the forest was filled with much meatier, easier-access meals. Besides, the human intellect reasoned- even if the creature could fly, it would be unlikely that it could lift her off the ground.

These thoughts were contained in the breadth of an instant, during which Emelyn stood, her eyes wide and her mouth pursed as the end of her spear waggled behind her. Thankfully, it only took a moment longer to see that hair- those eyes... which, though hawklike, held the definite air of the woman she knew.

"Greer!" She said, "I... I..." she hardly knew what to say. So she pointed, instead, with her toe. "...I killed the snake."

Greer paused in her trudge, not expecting to see her friend. And then Em pointed to the snake, and the entomologist dissolved into laughter. Ah, the release of stress!

"So you have. Congradulations?" She cocked her head as she looked at the poor creature, trying to decide if it was edible or not.
