Adulthood for Mando'ade is 13, where they are sent on their adulthood test: They must proove they can fight and hunt. Killing a ghest served both, as even pro hunters find them a challenge.

Yea, but at Age 13 Tal had already made a name for himself as one of the better assassin's out there...by 17 he was the top name to find if you wanted someone dead...but a ghest at 13 is...impressive
