The car ride was shared in companionable silence, one of Hartley's hands settled on Wallace's knee. (He'd never actually had someone do that to him before, and he thought it was rather adult actually. He'd seen married couples do that all the time, like other kid's parents, or sometimes his own.) He hadn't dared to touch it, for fear that Hartley would notice and slip it away.
When they had arrived at the mall, Wallace had purchased a small pizza and two sodas. Settling at a table, he pulled a piece onto his plate and began to watch the others in the food court.
Sitting on a bench was a couple, her head resting on his shoulder. They shifted slightly, and Wallace could sense what was coming next. He was an expert at make out fu. He nudged Hartley's arm, then nodded to the pipe settled beside him. "I think they're about to make me barf up this pizza I just ate. I think you should stop them." There was a mischievous gleam in his eye as he said it, and a smile tugged at his lips.

Achilles looked down briefly and sighed, before returning his blue gaze to Chris, someone he felt the kinship of friend and family. He drew in a shallow breath and exhaled slowly through his nose before he spoke up.
"Yes, I know. I mourn what has happened between you and my sister, and I can not pretend to understand what it is that you feel. I knew how I felt about you two, and it was good. As yet I am unsure how I feel about Wally and she. He is a dear friend to me as well. I am...sorry, Christopher, for everything that has happened, and no, I do not agree with how it came about."
He reached over the table and took his arm in hand as a comrade, a warrior brother.
"But I want you to understand, I hope this does not affect the friendship between you and I. I was sincere when I told you I thought of you as a brother. That has not changed, to me. I can, and will, be there for you. If you allow me."

Dude, you didn't do anything wrong. I don't know why you would think that. I've just been avoiding Cassie. Being around her...it's just not good. And Wally, well that little jerk hasn't even bothered to apologize.
Anyway...I have a date for the dance. She's going to be along soon. I can introduce you.

Jen shivered in the snow she hated this weather. It was so easy to handle as She-Hulk she just didn't feel cold at all. She found the Buffet and peeked inside. She could see Chris at a table and there was Achilles.
She almost transformed and charged him. 'No not good, will it be okay for me to be next to them both?'
She was holding back an urge to change into She-Hulk and flirt with Achilles. She couldn't do that in front of Chris. It would be too wrong.
But maybe as plain Jen Walters I can find out more about him without being too distracted.
She shook her head and walked further in.

Achilles smiled.
"I am glad, but I thought it might affect our friendship because you know, she is my sister. I will always stand by her, and she by me. Literally and figuratively. I just wanted you to understand. As for Wally...? He was the first one to befriend me here in this time, before even Cassandra had."
His stare turned hard somewhat.
"I do not like my friends being at odds. It is not right. Life is short enough to suffer such hardships. That was proven when we believed him dead, and when my own heart was taken from me."
He looked down at his plates and picked up his fork.
"I do not believe I will be attending your...dance."
He looked up and smirked with a touch of arrogance.
"I am good at a great many things Christopher, but dancing is not one of them."

And where was Cassie... arguing with the owners of the restaurant.
" Look Buddy! It's YOUR fault! The sign said 'All you eat'"
" Yes... but... but... those two! I'll be out of buisiness!"
" Do I need to bring up the Homer Simpson case...?"
' No, no... fine...I just hope we have enough to keep them feed."
The owner sighed ... Cassie went back up to the table.
" Hey guys... are you full yet?"
She could swear they had been there for over two hours.

*Boy, he was glad to see her! Chris hopped up and pulled Jen to the table.*
Jen Walters...this is Patrocles and over there is Achilles. And this is, uh, is Cassie Sandsmark. Everyone this is Jen. She's new. And super strong. And plays a good lawyer.

Patroclus walked up to Cassie's side, holding a large metal tray filled with cakes and pastries and all sorts of sweet goodies.
He beemed, "Look at what the manager gave me if Cassandra promised not to bring us back!" He looked at her oddly.
"Is that not an odd way to do business?" And he pulled the tray away before Achilles could snatch a large creme horn. "MINE!"
Achilles sighed and looked to the new girl.
"A pleasure to meet you...Jen. You are the girl that will be accompanying Christopher to the dance?"
"There's a dance?" Patroclus asked.

Jen blushed.
"Well I'm not super strong at the moment. I have my powers switched off."
She couldn't look Achilles in the eye. Her inner She-Hulk was wanting to burst out. 'Darn it he's so hot...it's criminal.'
She gave a quick glance and smile at Cassie. She was looking intently at her.

Cassie looked at the newcomer.... Cassie smiled but kept her thoughts to herself.
" So you're Jen.... It's nice to finally meet you."
Jen was cute in a libarian sort of way. She didn't look anything like Cassie, or Lisa, or Karen, or any of the other girls Chris had been seen with before... In a way this scared Cassie even more... she knew how to deal with girls like Lisa and Karen... But Jen? She was different all together.. Wait why was Cassie thinking of ways 'to deal' with her? She broke up with Chris.... So why did she care? Cassie had Wally now...

Yea, Pat. A dance. Achilles says he won't go. I was about to tell him that you two should totally go! He claims he can't dance but Mr. Rogers told me that some warriors call battle a dance. I;m sure you would both look snappy in some 80's duds.

The next thing Chris noticed was Achilles's eyes burning a hole right through him...and his foot grinding into his own. (ouch!)
"I would like to go!" Pat spoke up between mouthfuls of the pastries he was carrying.
"I am not going."
"Oh yes you are!"
"Oh no I am not!"
"Are!"
"Are not!"
"Back me up on this sister." Patroclus nudged Cassie's arm. "Tell him he is going!"
"She is MY sister and she will defend my side!"

Jen smiled, she liked the way Chris was thinking. Plus She-Hulk was completely set on having Achilles there.
"Yeah, even if you don't dance it's fun!" Jen said. "You get to be with all your friends and beside modern day dancing is more sort of stepping back and forth. There's no real skill any more."

" I'm staying out of this... though you know long hair was ALL the rage in the 80's and you get to wear tight leather....Besides if you don't go you'll upset Chris. He brought it up so he must really want to see you guys in tight leather pants and ripped T-shirts."
Oh yeah! One of the best benefits of no longer being with Chris... getting to mock him. Cassie looked over at Chris and Jen and smirked.
" Besides it can't be so bad... I might be going."
