"In May. I'm sure your father would let you bring friends to his place. You have a room there, so nobody would be any the wiser." He shook his head then. "We can decide later. For now, let's play."
He disappeared then, diving into the console. It was difficult to both speak and concentrate on the game, but when within he could communicate with Kevin in other ways and still hear him more easily.

He’d never thought about that. Kevin thought for a long while before beaming. “You’re right!” He could take friends over and no one would ever know. “I could invite some boys over to play video games.” May was Pretty far away, but he could wait and see.
“I’ll ask dad.” He picked up his controller. “Are you going to haunt the NPCs this time?”

It had been a few days, and Michael considered it safe to start introducing Lissie to the world at large. They had been out to the supermarket midway through their trip, but that had been about it. It was different when you had only now come into a new home and a world full of new and confusing things. At least he thought it might be. A trip to the park, though, would be both an adventure and a break.
He wandered to Lissie's room, well-dressed in his calling clothes, and knocked on her door.

Lissie opened the door partially, and looked out at Michael. She gave him a smile and opened it further. “I was hoping it wasn’t someone from research,” she said. “Do you want to come in?” She moved aside to gesture him in.
He always looked so nice. “Or did you have plans?”

"Please, thank you," Michael said with a little head-bow and entered the room. He admired the furnishings, most of which he knew were conjured. "I love what you've done with your room."
As for her second question: "Ah, well, yes. That too, if you're interested. I owe you a walk in the park."

Lissie rewarded Michael with a smile. “It took a bit, but I think I arranged it nicely.” It was a much smaller place than she was used to, but most of her things seemed to fit. “I’m glad you like it.”
“I’d love to come. What should I wear?”

Michael nodded. "I'm honored." He bowed. "Well, the weather is rather nice today. Something light would be fitting, and modern, of course. Would you like to look something up?"
He looked down at himself and laughed. "I will... be changing, obviously."

Something light and modern. Lissie paused in thought, before she was in a simple sundress and a cropped cardigan to cover her arms. “I saw Toby’s wife wearing something similar,” she explained, and smiled at him. “Modern or not, I think you look very handsome.” She leaned over to kiss his cheek.
“How are we getting there?”

Michael's smile broadened. "You look lovely." He was suddenly in modern clothing himself, and though much less fancy than his Victorian wear, his outfit was clearly tailored.
"Well, I think we need to conduct a little test first. I've never tried this before. Take my hand, please? If I may be so bold." He held out his hand, palm-up.

“You do, too.” He always did, though. He was definitely the best dressed man in HQ. A test? Lissie took his hand and gave him a smile. “Of course.”

Suddenly they were in the yard outside the apartments. Michael looked around them, then to Lissie. He grinned.
"Alright. Just hold on. If you don't make it, I'll be right back."
In an instant, they were in the city, around the block from the park. A brick building obscured their view. When he saw Lissie again, Michael laughed and took her other hand.
"There are also cars."
A young woman who had been walking in their direction and been cut off by their appearance simply stood, wide-eyed. Then she moved on. Michael offerd her a smile. Typical.

Lissie couldn't believe it. They'd been in headquarters, and then the garden, now--she looked around, eyes wandering. She caught sight of the woman and waved awkwardly.
"Do they always act like nothing weird's happened?" she asked, in a whisper. And cars! Yes. How things had changed! The world was definitely a colorful place. "I never pictured anything like this."

"Most often, yes," Michael said with a nod, and then dismissed all consideration of their witness. He marveled at the world around them with Lissie. "Isn't it amazing? I feel like I missed some of the shock, as gone as I was, but I'm rediscovering things every day. Come, the park is around the corner."
He tugged Lissie's hand gently and went around the corner, bringing them into view of the green and extremely well-landscaped park that stood behind an arch and a iron fence. A few people and dogs mulled about.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?"

Well, the living really were blind. Two ghosts out in broad daylight! Though, she supposed, she wouldn’t have known what to do upon seeing people appear out of nowhere either.
Lissie followed him, smiling as she took the sights in. “It’s beautiful,” she agreed. “Do you want to walk with me?”
