I thought Dr was Mr. Pepper's first name.
[Edit] I just looked up why there wasn't a period. Apparently it was removed in the 50's because the logo looked like Di: Pepper instead of Dr. Pepper.
...Apparently people couldn't read...?

Then what did Mr Pibb look like for them to change the name to "Pibb Xtra"? And why is it called Pibb Xtra? It's not like there's a Pibb Regular anymore.
