Finally! Sweet, sweet victory over MarioKart DS. I'd play with you guys, but I don't have a broadband connection. Sorry.
Anywho, back to my point. This game cheats. I know, you're thinking "It just gets really hard, Mr. Panzer. Nintendo wouldn't cheat."
Unfortunately, 'tis true. You can only be so good at racing before it becomes all luck, and the AI in single player 150cc gets so many legs up, it's impossible to just call it luck. You've probably noticed that what items you get is influenced by your place in the race. If you're in first, you get bananas, green shells, and perhaps a mushroom, if you're lucky. The AI gets some unfair buffs here. I've been smoked by a bob-omb from a guy in first place on several occasions, but in all the time I've spent in first place, I have yet to encounter a bob-omb.
The AI also gets a mysterious little speed boost. I experimented with this, having lost an entire prix just because of such a boost. I thought maybe he had gotten lucky with a drift boost, so I decided to make sure. Using R.O.B., the fastest kart in the game, I waited at the finish line until the other karts were on their last lap, at which time I burst forward. Toad quickly caught up to me at top speed (which is bogus in and of itself, because light karts are supposed to be far slower than a heavy kart), but I managed to get neck-to-neck with him at the last part of the race. I assumed the AI would think I was competing with it for first place, even though I was on my first lap. I was right. As Toad and I were neck-to-neck in the final stretch, I started pulling ahead a little bit. Within about 10 yards of the finish line, Toad burst ahead of me. He had been in my sight the entire time, and I monitored his icon on the bottom screen. There was absolutely no explanation for the speed burst.
And the biggest load of crap just occured on the Mirror 150cc lightning-cup. This isn't a common occurence by any means, but it still feels like I got ripped off something fierce. I had won 1st place the entire prix, and was on the final stretch of the final race, in third place. This was the single most important moment in the game, which would decide if I beat the game or if I would re-do the entire prix. I was in third, which would have still meant a close victory point-wise. I had not managed to get into first place the entire race. As we were about to cross the finish line, a blue shell hit me. I was in third place, and I was a considerable distance from Toad, who was in first place. There was no reason for me being the sole target of the shell. Of course, by the time I got back into the race, I had been knocked all the way into 6th place. Annoyingly bad-timed glitch? Or just Nintendo trying to prolong my gaming experience through underhanded means?

Mario Kart has always been like that. You've just got to grin adn bear it,and like they say practise makes perfect. Knowing the little bits where you van skip corners will give you the distance to win, so blue shells won't matter as much.

Lunar Falcon Ronin of the Blade Kedian Don't make me waste my Christmas bonus buying multiple copies of Mario Kart DS and shipping them to you guys just so I can play with someone, peoples! I'll give you my friend code as soon as I get my DS replaced. There's no mic in it, and the R button... well, stopped working. Along with the power button. gonk What the hell did you do to it? Nothing. I was playing the ballon battle, and I noticed they weren't inflating when I blew into it. So, I loaded up Nintendogs, and my dog won't listen to me, or even acknowledge I'm saying anything. Upon closer inspection, I had no mic. I mean, I could see wires in the mic hole. And it's about that time my buttons just stopped working. gonk

I remember one of the Paladins mentioned that they worked at a video game store. I'm planning on applying at one of our local EBgames stores, and I was wondering if you guys could give me a heads up on what I'm in for, and what my chances are of being hired.

Be prepared for the supidest questions ever, Mothers who know nothing of what they speak of. I had to talk to a woman for about 20 minutes the other day to figure out what game she was even talking about because she didn't know what system the game was on, what the game was, what it was about or even what kind of game it was.

I'm pretty sure Traj worked/works at an EB. Possibly ask her what you need to know?
