Warren sat down with her and smiled. "When we worry or feel frightened, we start looking for places to throw blame so that we ourselves won't be guilty. I've done it, you just did it. We all do at one point or another. Unfortunatly, that type of action usually has begative consquences. What if I had let you walk out? Nothing would have been resolved."

"And yeah, alot has changed. But it's all for the better. Trust me on that." He threw an arm behind her, leaning back on the ench. "I'll be fine."

Eliot laugh "I'm sure I could have convince myself that it was exactly what I had wanted. And your right nothing would have been resolved." She was thankful warren was not the type to rub it in.

She rolled her eyes mockingly. "I suppose I'll have to trust you on that one." She leaned over her knees, cocked her head to look at him gave a very audible sniff. "You've gotten stronger... right?" Eliot smiled.

He chuckled and held his hands up in a 'I give up' gesture. "How could you tell?" Then he grew serious. "Yeah, more than I can say."

"And you? How are you feeling?" He rubbed his chin, looking mysterious. "And uh...how is that book you found in Roark's library doing?"

Elito stared to say that she was feeling fin when a flash of guilt flew through her in an instant. She blushed feriously and gave Warren a rather frightened look.

She didn't try to hide it, or ask how he knew. "To be honest Warren I forgot I had it." She reached behind her back and gingerly pulled it out. Frowing because she now noticed the empty feeling of from where the book nestled.

"I remember I was afraid to open it after that first day. I was scared of what I might find..."

"Perhaps...though it's no fun if all he does is get a beat down delivered unto his person. Though he does put out plenty of sparks and show now doesn't he?" Giving a little chuckle followed by a contented sigh, shifting into a more comfortable position before settling once more in his lap. Despire the random acts of violence down below it was a nice little just them moment. Besides, she liked to wallow in what was between them, that wonderful serene bonding feeling. Especially with the inevitable stress that she would bring upon herself over social interaction on a large scale. "Don't maim him too badly...need him to be agreeable after all."

Cedric sighed and looked at Warhammer. "I guess we need to find more evidence."

"Like the creature he claims that did it." Warhammer replied.

"He said it went to Deep Water." Cedric placed a hand on his chin. "We could get a ride from Celeny and Elley, and investigate the matter."

"I would rather not go back to Deep Water. I shall explore the ashen caves for details." The minotaur sauntered towards the nearest rock face. "It has been several hours since the attack, I wil probably find nothing."

"I'm hunting a creature that may not exist."

"Do you think he did it?"

"I don't lie."

Cedric stopped by the Manor on his way to the edge, and left a magical message for Aella (who was actually the officer in charge) about where he and Warhammer went, why, and what they were planning to do. It was a neat cantrip, it recorded a small image of him, and his voice and could play back twice. But after that, it would fizzle into nothingness.

Cedric then proceeded to the beach, where a few flare cantrips attracked someone who was looking for him. He smiled when he was whisked on bored, and rather unimpressed when the cost of his voyage was a meal with the captain. She always made the time drag with poetry, taunts and lude comments.

Eventually he made it to the dock, where he disembarked and ventured straight to a tavern, where much to his unsurprise was the two people he was looknig for. Rather dirty looking, and un-kempt, Talon and Zallikite seemed uneager to be near the elf.

"Was it that bad?" Cedric asked.

Talon looked at the elf, and nearly leaped out of his seat at him.

"I've never needed to summon six creatures before." Zallikite explained. "Never, the thought never even came to me to try."

"Sounds like I missed an exciting adventure."

"Exciting? You sound too much like Tarathiel." Talon spat rather hansomely.

"Really, I thought he sounded mad." Replied the quarky Cedric.

"I don't even want to talk about what happened... I think we have all the seeds, but I am not sure." The summer replied. "How WAS your time?" Zallikite seemed rather, hostile for a gentle person.

"Oh, I had to fend of women. Celeste wont leave me alone, Aella couldn't travel alone, and the Oracle, she certainly can wear a petti-coat." Cedric smiled stupidly, which caused both Talon and Zallikite to jump at him, but they intercepted each other. "Nothing happened." The elf clairfied.

"Right, you only ATE in her cabin."

"Yes." Cedric smiled. "On a more serious matter, I need your help in hunting an animal that may be imaginary. Its a type of cat, that is almost invisible, and has the ability to drag a moderate sized girl a far distance, while purposely harming the body."

"Sound's like a local problem. Some Bump keeps offing people in this city, people don't travel alone anymore... and sometimes that doesn't even stop it.' Talon added.

"Why hasn't anyone stopped it?" Cedric asked.

"That little halfling tried a few times, but he could not keep up with it. It upfronts him to think that he can't protect people from such a creature."

"Ok, we'll go get him... Wait, from my little explination, you were able to guess that it is this creature?"

"Intentional harm is rare from a creature, only a few exibit those tendancies... this one matches your killer." Zallikite replied to Cedric's question.

"The king bares a few marks from a demon cat, they might be similar to the wounds on the girl. He can witness its existance." Talon added.

"Wow, I am out of this loop." The elf shoke his head.

"That is what you get for spending all of your time on a boat, while we slave away to complete YOUR quest."

Cedric smiled, "I did most of it too... except that last mission."

"You get the tab."

"Ok."

Warhammer knelt before the cavern, and noted the tracks. He could see Onyx's heavy foot prints, and found some feathers. He smelt the area and could only smell the volcanic air. If He was going to his his scent, he would have travelled her too. Scaning the ground, Warhammer noted that the soil was soft, and left marks rather easily, as well that the ash was from recent volcanic activity. If he could use his magic, he could find out exactly what creatures pasted through here over the last several years, but alas, he was left to his own wits.

He looked for any signs of another intruder, and found a trace track of blood from a kill that could not be accurately measured. He looked at the trail, and noted that the creature that was dripping was running very fast, simply from the way the blood splatter. Unfortunately, the tracks that were the most apparent were Onyx's. This did not bode well for him.

The minotaur looked at the entrance, and sniffed as strongly as he could, feeling the intense pain of the ash and sulpher any strong nosed creature would. He found no trace of either Onyx, or the mystery creature. The minor behemoth stood, and causiously entred the tunnel complex.

Cedric and his two compainions entered the audiance chamber of the king, a room opened to all in Deep Water, and looked about the rather unbussy room with some awe, but mostly curiosity. It was strange for Cedric to see such an empty audiance chamber when it was open to the public. Talon found the room rather archetecturely inspiring, but it lacked treasure. Zallikite thought it would be cool to summon his dragons, and let them stand above the doors in awesome posses, but lamented that few people would see such coolness.

Zallikite, of course, would never admit to thinking something like that.

After a moment of adjusting to the new environment, Cedric spoted the halfling and his dog not too far away, in fact, approching the rag-tag bunch.

"Do I know you?" He asked the trio before straightening up.

"I believe we meet in passing once," Said Talon.

"Oh... Well, I'm Gil-Hadriel Thefhand, defender of Helm." The stout warrior annouced, but not with his usual viggor or expression.

"It seems you have fallen onto hard times, good sir." Cedric replied. "We are on a quest, one which I think you must join."

"Quest?" The halfling asked in response to the proclemation.

"We are searching for a creature known to these parts, almost a legend, but more like a fiend." Zallikite introduced the subject, trying to encourage some life into the bewildered paladin.

Talon smiled devilishly, something he was fairly good at, and continued the introduction. "It strikes from the darkness, and is only known through the injuries it inflicts. Some call it a beast, others a devil, but this we know, it is not a normal animal."

Catching the que with great efficancy, Cedric finished the description. "It prowls like a cat, but wades like a krakken. Its head is a figment, as well as a fact. It feeds upon us, with out remorse, and enjoys what it is doing, as well as selects its prey."

"The Greed." The halfling said, "I shall join you on your quest to capture or slay it."

"The Greed?" Cedric asked.

"Helm told me its name, and that I should try to stop it. Should I not be able to, three warriors would come to aid me. Together, we shall be the Warriors of Light, to end the darkness that has fallen upon this time, like a plague seeking out the innocent, and making the meek crumble. But we, the brave, strong, true, and..." Looking at Cedric when he said stong, and Zallikite when he said true, and looking upon Talon, seemed to be at a loss.

"Capable." The tiefling suggested, as he could not use many positive words to describe himself. He was known to be lazy, cowardly, and always willing to avoid hard work, but he was a capable person when he needed to be. Which is why a certain drow captain tolerated him as much as he did, and even allowed him the dellusion of being a good fencer.

Gil accepted that, then recounted, "Brave," himself, "Strong," Cedric, "True," Zallikite, "and Capable" Talon, "To defeat this evil."

Finding the fiery pit where the flame snake was supposed to be was easy, as well as an unexpected find. THe girls charred stomach. It was not a pleasent surprise, but it would at least lend credit to, or damn the Vah. Warhammer looked at the remains, and tried to descern how he could pick it up without damaging or altering it. The evidence would lose any validity if he could not do that.

Before doing something risky, Warhammer looked at the various wounds, and noted that the fangs were a certain distance appart. He also noted that there were no sign of claw marks. Unless Onyx used his maw to remove it, it was most certainly proof he did not. At the very least, this could credit the cats story.

After a few moments, Warhammer decided that touching the orgin would only cause it to turn to ash, as heat from the cavern had caused it to burn. This would not go well, as the evidence had been tampered with by nature. But, at least the dimensions of the fangs were ascertained. At least, that would allow Warhammer to provide something for the cat.

Looking about the pit carefully, Warhammer noted the semi-collapsed cave on the other side, he could see where the stone was mealted by the fire worm, and could see marks above the tunnel that most definately were not made by Onyx. They were like strikes from a krakken. Tenticles.

Delicately, Warhammer stalked his way around the room, trying not to desturb the pit, as he did not want to awaken the fire worm just yet. He only needed to see that it was in there... But that would take some finese.

Two blocks and one sewer later, the quarte of Light Warriors were wondering around the rather unsavory, unsanitary, unsafe, and giant rat infested area of Deep Water... Oddly, very few giant rats reared their ugly heads, and those that did, seemed quite content to run.

What remained of what used to be a clan of kobolds was found corroding in a creature the quartet rather not discuss, but wound on the creatures show that only their stomachs were eaten, prior to the second feeding.

Another loop had them finding a rather comfortable looking den, perhaps used to house some creature of pertiuclar taste, or maybe the kobolds enjoyed sleeping in the same bed. It was deserted and bare, save for the claw marks of rats and what can assumed to be kobolds.

A handful of tunnels later, the quartet found a dead cadaver. It was brutally mutilated, and almost imposible to identify as a former gangster. A terrible end for a terrible person.

It seemed hopeless wondering around a sewer that must have been remade fifteen dozen times since the orignal city was placed her fifteen hundred years ago. They even found the remains of a Sky Father temple amonst the filth in one of the oldest areas of the sewer.

The warrior of light had pale faces when they round the last corner they would search that day, because the place was simply too big. Fortunately, or unfortunately, they happen upon what they were looking for.

Warhammer found himself running down the tunnel at break neck speed, when he fell down a small raven. The fire worm did not like his awakening, and spewed a great deal of flame after the minotaur. Luckily, Warhammer was quite agile as most of his species was.

The hole led down a few dozen metres, and ended abbruptly, letting the horned creature land roughly on a soft bed of ash. Brused and battered, the minotaur rose to find himself in a very ancient cave. He looked about, and merely gasped with relief when he heard the waves. Oh, how he loved the waves.

Walking steadily from the tunnel, Warhammer exited near Deep Water. He sighed in relief. He looked about and noticed that there was a nearby sewer entrance to the city. Well, most of this aspect of Onyx's tale can be proved rather effectively by Warhammer. All he needed to do now was get back to the city of Honoursfield to convey his investigations.

The four warrior of light seemed rather prepared for the beast. It was rather paniced by the situation it found itself in. It pranced about the cave, dodging the various attacks from the halfling paladin, and the teifling swashbuckler, but found that it was not fast enough to dodge Cedric's masterful attacks, or Zallikite's dragon (which filled most of this tunnel).

The beast found itself walking into smaller and small circles, with fewer chances to evade any of the attacks. He could not hope to win against all four of these titans at once, perhaps any one of them alone, except the summoner, but the other three would not be so hard to prey upon. The cat paniced rather efficient, and found a small tunnel that ended with a ninety foot drop, into lava. It sneared at the four, before simply leaping off the edge.

Cedric ran forward, and watched it decend into the depths. Zallikite's dragon chased after it, but was not fast enough to catch up with the creature. The tunnel tied up his wings, so he could not adjust them quickly enough to flap downwards to meet the beast.

Cedric shouted in defiance as the cat plumeted into the lava below.

The dragon drew upwards at the last minute, and clawed onto the side of the ravine. Climbing back up, it merely moaned its failure to his summoner.

Gil leaned against his mount, having been swiped cleanly off at one point, and sighed. "Greed is dead."

"Unfortunately." Cedric sighed, "Now we can't prove he existed, or attacked Kat."

"We can ask the King to Write a note saying that Greed was terrorizing the city, and his common mutilation was..."

"That would only provide enough evidance to create a doubt. We cannot convince the new King that Onyx is innocent." Cedric responded to Gil.

"We can try." Gil replied.

"We can try..." Talon emphasied, panting a little bit from a nasty gash on his side. "How much was that Laviathan healer again..."

"Too much." Zallikite dismissed his dragon, and summoned his Sylph. She kissed Talon's wound, which caused it to begin to regenerate. "Anyone else?"

Cedric looked about himself, his adreniline high, he could not feel anything, nor find any injuries.

Gil placed his hands across his chest, and suddenly glowed with a rather beautiful light. "Helm shall heal my wounds."

Warhammer was sitting on the beach, watching the waves roll over one another. He knew that they were caused by a combination of wind forces and currents, but he still enjoyed the sound. They were mystical in a sense, yet completely real. One of the few constants in his later life was the sound of the waves breaking on the bow of the invisible ship. Sometimes he could not hear them, or see them, sometimes at the same time, but the feeling of the waves crashing on the bow or afts of the ship would remain.

IF he ever returend to his home, he would have to leave the Shrine. He could not stand the thought of living there without the Earth Mother, nor could he stand the idea of being so far away from the waves. He would make a small raft to live on, floating in some bay, probably overlooking the fisheries of his homeland... Seldom used fisheries, but they were important like the herds.

The sound of four adventures and a dog approaching awoke him from his dream, a dream he felt was not too far away, or impossible in his lifetime.

"I found some evidence, but it was not recoverable." He reported.

"Greed killed himself." Gil said.

"Greed?" An oddly appropriate name. "Without him, we have little case."

"We can get a record of his attacks, and a notice from King Jiscal." Cedric said, "But I think Onyx is going to have to prove his innocence through his merrit."

"That is somewhat troubling." Warhammer replied, "He is to brash for such sublty."

"I guess I can ask Aella to help him with that." Cedric said, "I am not sure how she will react to that."

Gil stood up and stretched his arms, and listened to the waves. "I miss the ship."

Talon laughed, "Once you go out to sea, for a long time, you can never truly come back to land."

Zallikite shrugged, "I miss me forest."

"That's because you are a tree hugging hippy elf." Talon replied.

Cedric laughed, hollowly. He failed in his quest, and did not feel much like jest. "Let us get the reccords, and notice. Then return to the Manor."

Gil nodded. "Alas, this is the last adventure for me at this time, I must return to my duties in Deep Water."

"Alas, it was fun." Cedric smiled, "Let us join forces again."

Bored out of his skull. that woudl explain Onyx pretty well right now. After compltetly covering the interior of his cell with various runic circles and symbols, none of which he coudl activate, lacking his father's spiritual connections to do such, just something to occupy his time. Onyx was never one to be confined..and much to the annoyance of his guards, his newest time occupying activity was to sharpen his claws on the metal bars, inbetween pacing his cell.

"But that is a good reason to maim. he'll be much more agreeable if he has to go back in for another beating, or gets to accompany us to a party."

though yes, he'd be nice. watching Arthur keep trying.

"That's enough for now. Arthur, Piper requests you up here, she wants to ask something of you."
