Lissie smiled at him, and took a bite of the chocolate icecream. “We should make your friends try it, if this is what they’re used to.”
She paused, and watched him for a moment. “Things changed so slowly when we were alive,” she said. Like cucumber icecream.

Michael seemed to think for a moment, his head tilting slightly, and then his smile returned. "I'm not certain if they would like it or not. Lorien had some very interesting cultural dishes, but one never knows."
He nodded and met Lissie's eyes as she found his.
"Technology took a great leap in the mid-twentienth century, and has continued since there. There will be a lot to learn, but I promise to be there for you. It's amazing. Headquarters is full of technology we never could have dreamed of, from the analysis to the vehicles to the medical treatment." He paused. "Well. Perhaps we could have dreamed."

“We can find out,” Lissie smiled at him. They could make it for them, maybe. Or have them make it. “I’m looking forward to learning,” she said. Especially with him. She’d never known one person could mean so much. “You’ll show me around?”
She took another bite of ice cream. “You’ll have to show me how to use technology.”

"Of course," Michael agreed with another nod. It quickly turned into a head-shake, however. "It's not difficult. Intuition will guide you, or you can... fiddle with it until something happens. We must try to not break them, however." He paused.
"Perhaps we could introduce you to Kevin through his video games. It's fun. It's not quite like living in the game, but it is very interesting."

Video games? Well... games were fun. She nodded. “I’d like to meet your friend,” she said. “We could play with him. Do you think he’ll like me?” It’d been a long time since she’d met anyone outside of the agents, and she still wasn’t certain how one introduced themselves in modern times.

"He's very young, so it's difficult to say. He's still in the phase where girls are the enemy." Michael smirked, and then rather casually pointed to the banana split with his spoon. "Try this."
The sauces switched and he pointed to the half-demolished scoop of vanilla with strawberry sauce.
"Make sure you get some banana."

Girls, the enemy? Lissie smiled and shook her head. He must be very young indeed, if he hadn’t found one that had interested him yet. She took a spoonful of Michael’s new flavor mix, making sure to get a bit of banana.
She gave a thoughtful sound as she tried it, before looking to him. “I never thought to mix those two,” she said.

"It's very common now," Michael said with a nod, "Of course, if you'd never eaten a banana... how would we know? Many things are common now that we could not have dreamed of. They can transplant hearts now. Humans can make it across the world in days." He paused.
"People have landed on the moon!"

Transplant...hearts? What did that mean? Lissie gave him a look of confusion. “But it takes forever to go around the world,” Lissie said, in amazement. Months, by boat!
“Now you’re just trying to impress me,” Lissie accused, but she gave him a smile. “No one could get all the way to the moon!”

Michael just smiled, his eyes flashing.
"You just wait! I'll show you when we get back, straight from the internet with no conjuring involved. Space travel is very common. Humanity has a space station, in fact. Satellites control televisions and communications the world round." He gestured dramatically upward toward the ceiling.

People really traveled in space? But that was nonsense! She’d only just accepted that people could fly! Satellites? Space stations? Lissie’s mind was whirling. She took another bite of icecream.
“It sounds like there’s a lot of things to show me,” she said. “What is the moon made of?”

"Stone," Michael said, "The same as the Earth. They've yet to find water, but-- well. You can real all about it, can't you? We certainly have the time, and when the staff leaves for the night we have nearly full reign of the headquarters. You'll meet the staff that stay, and the cait sidhe."

Oh... well, that wasn’t nearly as exciting as she’d thought it’d be. “I could,” she agreed. “I could read all the books in their library?” Oh, and the cat sidhe! She looked forward to meeting him. She’d always been fond of cats in life.
“What do cats eat now? Do they still like cream?”

Lissie thought they’d eaten more than she ever had in life. She couldn’t believe all the wonderful things people had to eat now! And the technology Michael had told her about. She had to read about that. People had been on the moon? Really? She still couldn’t wrap her head around it.
It was getting late, though, and a warmth she hadn’t felt in years had taken root; she leaned against Michael, smiling at him. “I can’t remember the last time I stayed up so late.”

Michael looked down to Lissie, able now to just admire her as their picnic had been put away. All was calm and gentle, and he arched a brow. Undoubtedly she had spent the past century or two awake 24 hours a day, or at least part of the time. Either way, it wasn't something he was going to correct. Even though sleep could come to him now, even dreams, he didn't take part often. His afterlife had grown too exciting. If Lissie was tired, however, he'd be glad to let her sleep and see dreams again.
"You could try to sleep, if you like. The others won't be up for several hours now."
