Reaper saw the beam hitting the mountain and squinted his eyes. He pulled up his mask over his nose and sighed into it, "Carol that is what I'm afraid of. And it's why we are going to our friend Chamberlain's joint. We have to assemble a team capable of handling the worst case sceniros. In the mean while just take it easy and breathe." He looked back at Danny through the mirror. You might get your chance kid. Things are getting stupid. "Hotpants no time to act like you're a virgin; open this bad b***h up!"

"Just tryin to ease it buddy, don't want her complaining later." Ricky replied with a smile while punching it to about 110. When he reached the corner that Chamberlain's street was on he cut the wheel suddenly and pulled into a huge drift around the corner and rotated the back end 180 degrees until the car laid to rest cleanly parallel parked outside the shop. Ricky switched off the car and caressed the wheel one last time before getting out. "Hey Reaper, isn't that the car of the Earth Wind and Fire guys?"

Carol opened her door still gazing up at the mountain in aw "We shouldn't go to where the beam's coming from? Are we sure we have time."

Reaper replied grabbing the door handle" Danny stay in the car!" He whipped the door open, and entered straight into the building where Chamberlain and his guest all settled in cozy unaware of the outside world, "s**t's getting real out there let's get this crap over with so we can save the each other the city, you know the whole hero thing" the door slammed shut behind him with the wind.

Outside Carol stood next to Ricky who was already going for the door." Wait a sec. Uh Ricky was it.... can you and Victor really save us?" she stood unsure rubbing her arm infront of the Shelby, her hair blowing in the brisk breeze that was drifting flakes of snow all over the city.

"I didn't know I had to declare a major." Maria said as she pulled her jacket on. "Com on, we'll take my squad car." She hurried out of her office.

Ward just laughed and reapplied his mask upon his face. before he too left her office. " I just noticed how empty this place is now."

The rumbling from the beam towards the heavens woke the duo of Cino and Rand.
“What the ******** is that?” Cino lifted his head from a box top drool spilling from his mouth. “Where are we?”

Rand awoke his hands across his bare chest as usual. He kept them there out of habit you can’t go around turning everything you touch if you don’t touch anything.
