I've tried a few times to custom the rest of it, but it turns out funny.

No, I just need to finish the mug. The forehead needs filled in, and the braid and stuff needs finished.

Alright, since you've gotten that far already, I assume most of this is already known to you, and you're probably better than me at drawing, so I'm n ot much of a help there either. I can, however, give you some general pointers about customizing the rest.

-Almost all colors in a mugshot contains 3 tones, sometimes 4, depending on how much shade the color in question is in, which helps when doing the hair. So for the forehead, as an example, the light is coming from the right, if you see what I mean. That makes the skin under the hair in the front (what's the one word to use there? D: ) the darkest tone on the left side under the hair, and the mid-dark part at the right. Of course, shading is chosen by the artist, I'm just saying what I do, using other mugs as reference. x_x

-As for the above, if you want to make stuff easier, you could give her a headband instead. Then you don't have to worry as much about the shade. :3

-Now the hair in the back is a bit different. Since it's tied up (and in a braid, nonetheless @_@) you have to think of how the hair swirls, and create the strands of hair as you see fit.

-Don't follow the rules, cause the mug might not do that. x_x
I know, it seems a bit hypocritical to suddenly tell you to don't do anything I told you, but that's because sometimes, you might see a 5th tone, or the shade is different because the hair is thinner at some places. The best way is to use your artistic sense to see what needs to be done.

-Work at the pixels, and experiment. Since there in reality aren't too many rules to follow, it's better to just go pixel by pixel and see if a certain speck of color makes it look better. I use Paint because it's easier to do that with these kinds of mugshots. And that one pixel can make a real difference, especially with the eyes and eyebrows, since just changing the color at one place can make it look like an eyebrow or a scar.

There's probably more tips I could give you, but when I work, I mostly work with the last "rule", so I don't really use rules or pointers to do my work. If you'd allow me, I could try to finish the mug shot on my own and see what I can come up with, but since it's your creation, you've probably visualized it better than me. Either way, I hope I helped somewhat. x_x
