As Kimiko's attention returned to the book, the chapter came to a fine conclusion. In true fashion Kino and Hermes rested amidst that paradise for a time, and Kino read the book the man had given her at the start, a compromise between the sides of this stories coin... As Kimiko debated on whether to go on the next chapter, she also found her thoughts going to back to Maboroshi. For her enemy to feel such disdain when she talked about her favorite things...was he just a jerk...or... maybe he was one of those people who were stuck in the desert... one of those lost souls worn away by the sand...
She turned the page noting this next chapter to be rather short... she decided she'd go ahead and read it before the end of the day...

The day was pleasant enough for this kind of "Mental training". Sitting here reading seemed like a perfectly acceptable pass time if one Hadn't been training. But still, Kimiko, under no circumstances, considered this some "Day off" from training. She didn't take days of from training...unless her mom made her that is. The only time she might relax is the day she finally put that stupid enemy of hers in his place...and then maybe only for ONE day.
Her unusually bouncy hair swayed somewhat as a wind blew by. This same wind swept throughout the grounds, sending a strange wave across the tall grass and leaves... Kimiko watched it with a far away gaze before looking back to the book.

Kimiko shut the book suddenly, something odd had just occurred to her. This book...she still didn't know where it came from... it had appeared on a wind just like this... it was strange, but she didn't really question it. She didn't ask where the book came from, she wasn't even suspicious of who could have lost it...or, why not, given it to her.
All she really thought about was the strange book itself... who wrote it? She'd never seen another print of it, and there was no sign of an author's name. The very purpose of the book seemed to provoke thought...and... she twirled a lock of hair around her finger, a habit of hers when she was thinking. She finally puffed up her cheeks, showing a disappointed face "Ooooh, there's no point worrying about it... I mean there's no way for me know now..." she sighed and opened the book.

Kino was sitting by the side of the road, polishing Hermes intently as the two conversed about where to go next. This was Kimiko rejoined the pair, and this was also where they received a visitor.
Trudging through the dirt of the passing road was heavily armored vehicle. Like Hermes, this vehicle seemed a living machine. As it passed them by the tank stopped, it's voice deep but weary. "Pardon travelers...might I ask you a question?"
Kino and Hermes looked at the tank carefully. The Tank was pitch black and looked rather worn and torn. It had a large dent in it's left side and three red slash marks near it's gun. Kino and Hermes not having anything of particular important to do, answered with an affirm, ready to answer his question.

Kino sat back and listened as the tank explain it's troubles. "I've traveled very far young travelers, and far have traveled, yet no where in all my travels have I found the enemy I seek. In my last battle my commander bid me find my true enemy, describing him for me in great detail, yet I've still yet to find him."
"What does he look like?" asked Hermes with a curious tone.
"He is a tank, who's color is of purest black, his left side has a dent in it, and atop his gun you would see three red slash marks...have you seen such a one?"
Kino and Hermes were very quiet for a few moments. Then Kino, her face suddenly unaffected responded "No...we've never seen anyone like that."
The tank sighed "My search goes on then...farewell good travelers, may your journey be a pleasant one, and may you find eternal happiness at your destination..." the tank started back down the road.
"Wait..." Kino called.
The tank halted calling back "Did you remember something?"
Kino seemed indecisive for a second or two but in the end stayed calm as she said these words. "I may not have seen your quarry, but it seems to me we are all fated to meet our true enemy...I feel that no matter which direction you go, if you go far enough, you'll be where he stands now."
The Tank continued it's own journey "Thank you young lady... I hope you are right."
As the tank left Hermes remarked "He carries his destination with him it seems..."
But Kino corrected him "No, a Destination isn't always a place...sometimes it's a realization... an idea...a feeling..." she looked after the tank "I think he's a long way yet till his destination..."

Kimiko closed the book, the short chapter finished, but despite it's short length it had certainly left an impression...and she didn't fully get why. Unlike most of the others, Kimiko didn't fully understand what this chapter was trying to say... She had some basic sense or...instinct maybe was closer, but she didn't really fully understand.
Still... she got to her feet starting to head back home. She'd done enough mental training for a while. Tomorrow she'd really kick it back into high gear, she was going to work on her chakra training, and even her control, after all... it was kind've a weakness of hers. When she thought of that jerk being able to walk trees she nearly boiled over. She puffed up her cheeks. She hadn't seen him around recently, not since three days ago when he'd been asleep or whatever... she scratched the side of her face thinking.
"Oooh...I'll just bet he's trying to surpass me...that stupid..." she seethed "Ohh, I just need to calm down...I'll do it...there's no doubt...I just gotta keep working..."

Kimiko arrived at the training grounds early that next day, her eyes were completely filled with fire that a thousand rain storms couldn't put out. She was going to work herself to death today...well...she paused. Not literally of course. she continued to walk forward her eyes ablaze again. But she would be very very very tired by the end!
She slammed her hands together, her eyes burning with passion! "Okay! I read all about how to do this in Mom's scroll, so this should be no problem...no problem at all!" She fiddled for a moment as she formed the appropriate hand sign, then nodded to herself before facing forward again.
'Okay...so...focus your chakra...make yourself the master....of your self...yeah!" she exploded into "Dramatic Mode" "My amazing fiery spirit will set the very earth ablaze!"
Training: Will of the blazing soul! RISE!

Kimiko's brow started to cover with sweat. She could feel it...but she just couldn't get it to do as she wished. It was like a struggling python she was trying to snatch from a river. She tried harder, forcing the flow to obey, grasping it tight with her very will. The chakra was being so...so difficult! Why couldn't it just do as she said it was HER chakra after all...it should do what she told it to! She gritted her teeth and narrowed her eyes, pressing harder...

Kimiko's chakra began to build, flowing...she didn't even register it though, the only expression she continued to show was the one of absolute focus. She didn't even break her concentration for a second. She was putting her whole being into this, then, though she never really realized it, this was a quite common for her. She often put everything had into everything she did. Relationships, goals, beliefs, even drama. Training was no exception. She would not fall short of her goal this day...she'd become stronger...strong enough to climb up a tree just like Maboroshi...by the END OF THIS DAY!!

"Kimiko..." Her father said with hand on her shoulder "Just remember!" he smiled, his teeth gleaming in a glamorous fashion as he gave a thumbs up "Always give everything you've got 200% percent!'
Kimiko looked at him blinking obliviously...and her pacifier fell out of mouth while her mouth formed an o. "perjsja..." she responded nonsensically.
"Honey you better not be talking strange to the baby again!" His wife called from the adjoining room "We just adopted her, don't go overloading her brain."
Her father looked slightly intimadated "Ahhhh Of course dear!" He then resumed his teeth gleaming smile, speaking more quietly "Because that way, even if you don't reach your goal you'll have given it your best, and if you do you just got twice as better!" He started laughing in a strange over dramatic manner "AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Kimiko smiled her young face lighting up as she mimicked the laugh to the best of her ability "ah ha ha ha ha ha!"
Though of course Kimiko couldn't recall that moment, the memory was still there, locked deep within her mind...she was going to always try for 200%, no matter the odds against her... no matter the mountain she had to climb.

Kimiko was never really a proficient student when it cam to chakra. She was beter than some to be sure, but her chakra control was next to nil. She wasn't even able to preform the most basic of jutsu, and this was supposed to be her final year at the academy...if she didn't improve by the Genin Exams...she'd have to wait a whole nother year... She frowned. She'd always seemed to be behind when it came to things like that...when it came to everything HE was good at, she seemed to fail. The only thing she knew she was better then him in was Taijutsu...but he seemed more interested in gum on the bottom of his shoe than taijutsu... she continued to focus, her power building faster than before...

Kimiko faltered slightly her sweat building on her brow. Her chakra still seemed to be fighting her...but why!? She felt almost betrayed...but then, she didn't care... even if her very chakra made itself her obstacle, she'd tame it. she smiled inside her head. Yes! That was great way to think about it! Her chakra was nothing but a great beast to be tamed, when it was she would ride it to victory as a champion of justice!
She tried once more, her efforts increasing, she'd do this...she'd succeed...

Her body felt like it was a heated iron, she could feel the chakra now, more vividly than before, skimming across the surface of her skin like a ripple in her very being. She felt the power pulse...and again..and again... it was almost like a...she opened her eyes slightly. 'Like a heart beat...it's just like a heart beat..." She continued to listen into the pulse, the chakra was...like blood pumping through her... but...what was the heart of ones chakra...why was it beating? She shook her head returning to her focus. Oh who cared... she just needed to master it right? Yeah!

Kimiko's concentration wavered...a butter fly of all things landed on her nose. She blew out of the side of her mouth but the stubborn thing refused to budge. She blew again and this time the insect took off, flying into the sky. She tried as hard as she could to fall right back into rhythm. Continue the training with no set back but it was difficult, it was like swimming up stream.
Still, the tide was slowly turning back into her favor and she was regaining hold of the chakra. She had to keep the flow going, she had to keep it for as long as she could. Her eyes closed again, her face looking scrunched up in a rather adorable manner. 'This isn't as hard as I'd thought'd be but..." she sweat dropped looking discouraged for a brief moment 'It's still really hard...' she regained her composure...or as composed as you could look while your face was scrunched up 'But I'm fine...I can get used to this...I've just got to try. Love and Justice always wins!'

Kimiko fell back into a sitting position with big smile on her face. She wanted to jump up and shout hooray for being able to hold it that long, but she was kinda tired and settled for a rather fatigued "Woo hoo!" she leaned back unto the grass and took a long breath. This was just the beginning... she was going to do that today as many times as she could stand to. She had no intention of not being ready for the exams, she had no intention of waiting a whole nother year to be a Genin...she was going to succeed THIS year...her eyes opened up on fire "There's NO DOUBT!!!" She lept back to her feet and seemed somehow renewed"I'm so ready to go again! HIYA!!"

Rosies body ached from running. Her muscles burned from fatigue but still she continued her movements. No wavering, no stopping, no matter what. The young girl was racing in the direction of the training grounds in hope to get some peaceful practice in until she became so tired her body would refuse to move.
Her plan was simple. Start with physical things. Running, doing push-ups, punching a tree. Anything she could do to make her body ache and ask her to stop. Then she would stop and train her mind, her soul. He would practice releasing and focusing chakra perhaps train her shadow doppleganger technique. After all it had been a good long while sense she had performed it.
Rosies plans, however, would have to wait. There was a girl her, not fifty yards away. How she gathered that distance was unsure, but the fact her sense picked her up was enough to tell her aproximentaly. This girl, she was new to Rosie, "Unpleasant." The muttered words were less aimed at the girls actual person, then to her person being here. The pink haired Yubie knew that where there was people, there was conversation. "Maybe it will do me good. I haven't talked to anyone sense shif abandoned plans to go to Iwa."
With a sigh Rosie slowed her pace to a stand. She felt her face almost forgetting to wrap her eyes. It's was a tidge annoying feeling people look at them. Not to mention it often scared away any potential friends she had the ability to make. So quickly she pulled out a purple ribbon. It was at least three feet in length, and easily four in width, enough to double wrap and cover her eyes. After tightly securing the cover she began her run again. Thirty days. That was how long she was giving herself to be ready for whatever lay ahead.
