Dari smiled, though politely still, and shook his head.
"I'm an alien in that I'm not of Earth. I'm from another planet entirely. I'd show you my true form, but some people find it very upsetting." He could hear Toby and Michael in another room discussing Elise coming back to HQ with them and where she might stay. A phone call appeared to be in order. Reacting to the conversation might be upsetting too, however, even though he thought Elise might be able to hear it. Ghosts heard a lot you wouldn't expect them to, after all, or at least Michael seemed to.

Lissie blinked, and offered Dari a hesitant smile. "No, I think I'd like that," she said. "What do you think Michael and Toby are talking about?"

"I'm sorry, like what?" Dari asked, and then glanced off toward the sound of the men talking. It wasn't any sort of necessary gesture, but just one he'd picked up from Toby over time. He considered if he should tell her, and then decided that it couldn't hurt.
"They're trying to figure out where you might be able to stay, should you come back to Arizona with us." He smiled up at her. "You and Michael are getting along?"

"Seeing your true form. It sounds improper." A proper Victorian lady certainly didn't look at aliens in the nude!
"I'd like to stay with Michael," she said. She'd like very much to come to Arizona with them. "Yes. I didn't go, and he kissed me. He seems pretty happy, with my coming back. I like how confused he looked."

Dari's smile just grew and he offered a little bow of the head. She didn't seem afraid, just very Victorian.
His expression changed then, his brows raised and his head turned slightly sideways. They'd kissed! No wonder she was coming back! With the way Toby and Michael were speaking, you'd never think there had been kissing happening... at least not in their word choice. Their tones might suggest it. Dari hadn't heard it perhaps for the expectation that Michael would never do such a thing.
"He's the only other spirit we've met who's come back, and it was recently," the alien said, "It's not common. There has to be a good reason to the deny the white light. It sounds like Michael wants you to be able to have your own space. His room is only a small room and a smaller attic."

"I couldn't go," she said. "He wanted me to, and it was nice...but not as nice as here." It wouldn't have been heaven for her. Not without having someone she loves--someone who loved her back.
"I can taste things, now," she said, thoughtfully. "I'll have to ask Michael what else is different." It sounded as if he wanted to court her properly, them? "Well, as long as I can be near him."

Dari smiled and nodded. Nobody was sure what the white light and the afterlife were like except the spirits who had gone there. Michael had described it to them, but that was as far as they could know. Dari wasn't even sure there was a white light waiting for him at all. Cats could apparently cross, but he was no cat.
"I'm sure he'd like to talk about it with you," he said then, "Did he tell you about HQ at all? There's a lot of people, so you should be prepared for that. It's where we all work, and Michael lives in an old supply room in a sort of open area by some desks. I mean, it's not a supply room now, he's made it up for himself."

Lissie had been rather enthusiastic until she saw the airplane. She froze, stiffening beside Michael as she saw it. Oh. It wasn't like the flying machine at all. And it seemed much bigger than the ones she'd seen in the sky.
"Are you sure it's quite safe?" She asked. How did those two wings hold it up anyway? It didn't look very sturdy. She took Michael's hand. Why was she afraid? She couldn't die--again.

Michael accepted Lissie's hand with no hesitation and smiled to her. She looked odd, in her mostly-modern clothes.
"It's quite safe. I know it doesn't look it, but I've been on one many times. Every mission means someone is taking a plane, and we've never had an issue. Sometimes it will feel like it's shaking, but it's only the air currents."
Toby was already helping pack up with Dari. The captain was making his own preparations.

Well, if Michael said it was safe... Lissie nodded. She frowned slightly in concern, looking towards the plane. "Air has currents?" She asked, after a moment, and looked at Michael. "Like a river?" Huh.
"I'm really looking forward to finding library with you," she said, then, and smiled. She needed to catch up!

"Yes, quite like a river," Michael said. He began to the steps leading into the plane, then held out a hand to help Lissie up onto them and perhaps up them, if need be. Ladies always went first, of course. Luckily the pair loading things in wouldn't be too much of an issue as he and Lissie could easily pass through them and the crew, of course, was well aware that their passengers were not living humans. There was a certain risk in flying a partially-electronic vehicle with dead people on board. With any strangers who saw them by chance, they had total plausible deniability.
"There is a rather large library at headquarters. It's human as well as entity-based. Many of the texts are very old, though, and need special care. I'll teach you how to conjure things without seeing the whole of them, if you need any help."

So an airplane was like... a ship in the air. Not that that helped ease her worries any; Lissie had never been on one of those, either.
She took his hand. "I don't like stairs," she said. The last set she'd been on, they'd nearly taken her from Michael. She started up them, her hand tightening its hold on Michael.
"I'd like that," she said. "Can we conjure anything?"

"I haven't found a limit yet," Michael said. That didn't mean they didn't exist, of course. He chose to ignore her comment on stairs, especially considering that these led to a place where they could be together, not apart.
He helped Lissie up the final step and gestured to the interior or the plane. It was nice, but not upholstered in leather or overly-lush. There was no need for such things. "Choose your seat. We'll be sitting until we're up in the air, not that we'll be taking off for a short while."

The airplane looked much safer on the inside, with its seats. She chose one away from the window. "Sit with me," she said. "What's Arizona like?" She asked. She wanted to know more about Michael's world! "Do you think I can meet the baby they named after you?"
Children had been rarely seen and even more seldom heard while Lissie had been alive, cared for their nurses. "Maybe I could hold him?"

"It's warm and sometimes desert, sometimes green. We live in a green area. There are many types of people who live there, so be prepared for more diversity than Wales has offered you." He smiled to her then as he took the seat at the window.
"I'm sure you can. All you'd have to do is ask, or maybe we'll be invited of Toby and Maia's home some day. I'm sure that you could hold him."
