He tilted his head at her once more as he listened to her list the things that she wanted for herself and things she wanted from him. "Then why don't you take those things from me or even ask them from me?" It wasn't as if he'd demied her his company or pushed her away, no she was the one who was always pushing him away and wanting the distance. Though yes he was aware that it may just be the hormones but he was willing to risk her wrath and what not. She really wasn't quite so bad once you got past the layers.

THe timid creature approached the magnificent, if not horrific, castle that worked as the fortress of the two most netorious people in this end of the realm. The half elf gulped as it saw the two monstrous guards. He walked slowly, not because of fear or desire to leave, but he was injured. His left leg's tendon was torn, and his entire right side bleed slowly, as though what ever injured him allowed him to walk away.

Donning light leather armour, what was left of it, and a baddly damaged leather helm, the creature bore no arms, almost literally.

"I beseech this fortress..." The half elf would never survive the trip to his hometown, so, it was ask these necromancers for help, or die, "I beseach aid." He asked, and spat some blood on the ground. He hoped those fiendish guards could speak common.

the Ogre's looked at eachother, then looked at the nearly dead elf, then back at eachother, and one shrugged. that one opened the door, and the other picke3d the halfelf up by it's armor and carried it like one might carry a wet cat..while slaves were already wiping up dripping nad splattering blood fomr Piper's floors.

"Dis guyz say hez beeseechaz aids."

Big word for an ogre.

Malik looked up, glanced at Piper, then back at the injured elf.

"Alright. take him downstairs. clerics will see to him. if he survives, I want to know, if not..well have the necromancers make an essence emerald out of him."

A small glance over him.

"If he lives, give him food and drink. I want to know why he was out here, and what the hell got a hold of him."

In no mood to waite, the half elf's injuries were tended too. The creature that damaged it did not intend to kill it, only let struggle around to keep its food nice and warm for later, similar to how one might put an item in the oven.

After a few minor sugeries and a taint of curative magic, the elf was standing rather shakely. Given a crutch, he could then report to Malik what befell him, given that he would certainly not have any choice on the matter.

Using the makeshift cane he was borrowing, the half elf limbed his way to where the inquisitive Malik awaited.

"I heard quiet clearly you wished to beknowest why I ventured so near thou Keep. Angered the orcish god is upon our people, numerous incursions of interlopers he has sent to us, raiding our crops and our lives. In defense, we sent out patrols of scouts to mark and ambush. Given our few numbers and limited technology, we use surprise and possition to flank our foes, and smote them into ruin."

"Upon our victory, a black shadow fell upon us, killing the entire troop save myself. I escaped baring clawed wounds, and severed muscles."

He was just so preoccupied with papers wasn't he? Not that she mnded she guessed...she'd kept them from him for three months. So seeing as he had returned to his paperwork she had returned to her random munching and musing and finally getting that letter out of her parents, sealing it and all with house crest and what not. She just loved to do that. And thusly her attention had turned onto who she was going to bring with her to this ball thing. Three people. She had them in mind but it was likely they would probably say no. She wasn't even sure she wanted to go, seeing as she felt she was going to quickly develop the 'don't touch me I don't know where your hands have been or what they do and I am pregnant' paranoia. But she would go for apperances sake and she wasn't going to let Malik go alone anyway. But her attention turned up from her current snack of strawberries and her randoms aspects of her own business suspected numbers and what not, to the elf that had been dragged in. And she glanced to Malik as he had glanced to her before back to thier new guest...who was a surface elf. "I'm haveing that wolves to blood feeling again..." Said as he was taken off, but it seemed the elf was back all too soon for her liking and she found herself swiping a hand over her hair to make it fall over her ear, as she listened to him and looked back to Malik. "Definately wolves to blood."

"Wolves to blood indeed."

A concerned look while this new information was digested in.

"you're from the Penninsula, correct? Close enough for this to be a concern. I sent food a short time ago, did it reach there? and if you are in need of weapons, a bargain I'm sure could be arranged."

And increase his influence.

"A black shadow. did you see this shadow's shape? a size, perhaps? there are many things down here that can cast a black shadow from some height. did it speak in any kind of tongue?"

Why did he get the feeling Tarathiel had let loose something and was getting a grand kick out of the situation. Of course, that was probably paranoia. there were plenty of things in the dark that didn't have any connnection to a drow.

"We recieved no such gifts from thy stores, good sir." The half elf said, staring a bit intently at the blue skin. He could honestly say this was the first time he had ever seen a blue skinned elf. "The scars showed that it bore pawed hands, with hooked claws. My leg injury telleth that it had the ability to wrap about my limbs as well. Only one creature marks such behaviour, but one has not been seen here since the Cataclysm." All farmers were quite well informed of the many bumps in the night, since that was the extent of their entertainment when bards were short on hand.

"What sir, could our people possibly possess other than our own, that you might desire." An iron spoon was worth the entire wealth of most of the peninsula. "As self sufficient as we are, we opperate on barter betweenth farmers, fish for kelp, kelp for roach, and so forth."

A look over to Malik at the information. Hm...well that didn't sound good at all now did it? Nope. "And that creature would be?" Bedtime story or not, it was best to know such things. Another underdark thing she could be paranoid about. Not that that was a bad thing when in the underdark. But it seemed the peninsula was worse off than originally thought. So, he was purian and those purians didn't get what was intened for them. Though her mind could come up with five reasons right off of why not.

"The Purian Penninsula provides a harbor of safety. which means sea going traffic comes by, if not stopping there. Information is the most valuable thing in the Underfoot. That's what I wish for. information. comings and goings, any unusual rumors. Particularly anything dealing with the drow, or a priate named Tarathiel."

A slight smirk.

"I'm afraid I as well am not too familiar with bedtime and campfire stories, surface born. Speak plainly of this thing. if I can find it, it can be dealt with. I have a great deal of resources to use in handling creatures of the Dark."

Though he was thinking dragonling, giant bat, something with wings. or something extra planar that some damned wizard conjurered and couldn't control properly. But a reassuring pat on Piper's thigh.

"And we'll get the supplies out to you. I imagine what happened to you, may well have happened to those that were coming to you."

The half elf turned his gaze to the she-elf, and spoke softly and percisely. "The Shadow Cat." He would not know its technical name or its common name, but in the grove where he lived, everyone knew that this was a Shadow Cat.

The half elf looked at Malik with a very incredulous look, "What ships?" His voice showed that he actually didn't know anything about that kind of thing. "Tarathiel, he's not a pirate. He' beath a fisherman. I do not know much about the drow, especially the ones that seem to be coasting along side us every now and again. You can here her laugh from a mile away, and you know she's got a thirst for our mead."

Shadow cat...hm, now what slipped into her mind? Oh yes, a big winged black feline named Onyx. But she immediately tried to push that thought from her mind, not wanting to entertian it. Onyx wouldn't do that...he just wouldn't. He wasn't like that. Thusly she shook her head as if to clear it. She was exaggerating...she didn't know if there were such things in the Underdark, maybe there were. A look down to Malik's hand on her thigh in reassurance before she looked back to the half elf and raised an eyeborw. "A fisherman..." Don't make her laugh...but there was another one was there? Oh yes, wolves to blood feeling...especially since they were more or less taking the pruians under thier wing partially.

Malik got a small frown. he knew what those things were. Or at least the term 'shadow cat'. Nasty beasts.

"I see. the Tarathiel I reffer to is the more well known name of Kimmuriel. and I was aware that there had been an envoy some time ago from Lord Jiscal to the Purian Penninsula. So don't play quite so dumb."

But he did get up, and walk over to this Purian.

"Your stories. is there only one of these beasts? or more then one? Where do your stories say it's territory is? how long has it been here, to your knowledge? And if the Purians wish protection, they will need to become a province under me. nothing fancy. Just be ready to answer if I call. and do try to be a bit more involved in the world around you. Information is the true coin of the realm. if anyone, or any kingdom, approaches your settlement, I want to know about it. If you see a drow ship, I want to know when and how it looks."

Looking him up and down.

"I'll have you transported in a few days back home. You'd hardly make the journey crippled as you are for the moment, adn then whom woudl give my offer that woudl be even slightly believed. In exchange, I will provide protection, starting with the elimination of this shadow cat. I will provide additional food and arms to you. those that wish to learn can be trined here in arts of war if you see fit. Do these terms sound decently fair to you?"

"The only part of your deliberation I can bequeth my honour to is the accompement home, sir." The half elf's shoulder's sagged. "As much as my people as a whole may be intertwined in the affairs of the greater area, what would I, a mere scout, know of those dealings." It was true, how little a forward scout would know about home, save for the small pieces of information he picks up ever now and again. This was the first time he heard that Jiscal sent an embassary to his kin.

"I would believe that my kin would trust in this agreement, but the Council of Druids, and the Elders would have to agree to it first." Normally, the high priest of Corellon Latharien would have to be consulted too, but his power wained.

"Legend says that the Shadow Cat comes from nowhere, and stays but long enough to feast, then retreats. It is odd how he has attacked us for such a prolonged time, as he has struck down our scouts for several months. We found them once, before the carrion crawlers, they were all slain and whole, save for their bowls." He remembered that day fairly well. A joint effort to engage a relitively large force of orks. ONe of the two teams was waylaid after the battle, and slaughtered.

Oh didn't that just sound lovely. Yes well this sounded horribly interesting to boot. Some type of Underdark cat that was horribly vicious and had a taste for half elves. No dount enjoyed full elves too, as well as anything else it wanted. And from Malik's little frown, she at least knew that he knew what the half elf was talking about. Which was good because Malik didn't stand for threats that could come against his House or anything associated with it. Though in contrast to Malik's more business like questions, she had to ask more personable questions. "Interesting story...but do tell me something else. What is your name?" Because that was imortant to her to know. For whatever Piper like reason she had.

"My name is Manveru of the Southern Gully." He bowed his head. "Son of the Son of a Rebellious Soul." In other words, the grand child of a rebel who escaped oppression.
