[Hendricks] IFF stands for "Immediate Friend/Foe" signal... it's sent out as a way of identifying allied and enemy units on the battlefield as a last resort. Considering you never know what unit belongs to who, every mobile suit is equipped with the IFF signal belonging to it's faction.
*checks over his scanners*
The IFF signal these guys are sending out is "Friend"....

*me and the leader have a blades in a lock and I get his IFF and I kick his mobile suit back and I send my IFF to him and he turns his saber off and stands up fully and he gets out of his mobile suit and so do I* So why you attacking us?

*Hendricks approached the leaders customized RX-79[g] Gundam Land-combat type and parked in front of him. He opened his hatch and looked at the other pilot as he did the same*
[Hendricks] Kyle.... you son of a b***h....
[Kyle] Well what do you... I figured it'd be you who shot down my units Hendricks.
*The two stepped out of their mobile suits and walked over to each other, giving the other a big hug*
[Hendricks] Ha! You're still piloting that old thing?
[Kyle] Hey, watch it, my Gundam's still got some mileage left on him.
[Hendricks] Everyone, this is my friend and old wingman back from the academy, Kyle Landers.
[Kyle] Lt. General Kyle Landers.

Hobo keeps searching the compound for another hour before finding what he was looking for. A very large and very assorted pile of beam rifles and various beam cannons in a pile 40 meters high.
[hobo] "Computer. I am going to need a few tractor spheres to sort through all this crap.
[computer] " Aknowleded. They will arrive at your location in a few minutes."
[hobo through intercom] " Hendricks. Any change out there?"

[Hendricks] Yeah... turns out the "enemy" was actually a recon unit lead by an old friend of mine. We don't have anything to worry about.
