A part of Jasmine nagged that she'd really have to re-do the arena after this, but it didn't bother her much. A bit of destruction was part of the job, anywho; besides, it wasn't terribly difficult to pave over the cement once more.

The more pressing matter was the battle and Steelix's situation. Jasmine grimly watched Krystal amazingly whip up a great Twister that tore at the ground. Her mind spun for something that Steelix could do; there wasn't much time before that tornado revealed his position. Well, he couldn't stay down there forever.

"Wait for it, Steelix, and power up a good Slam," she decided finally, calling a little louder so that the Iron Snake Pokemon could hear her over the tornado from within the confines of the earth. With nearly perfect timing, Steelix let the Twister rage past him, feeling it press against his hard back for just a second before he raged into action. Viciously, he sprung from the ground, building momentum with his heavy body as he headed towards the Dragonite for a full-body tackle.

Kasiya hung her head, feeling as though Koga's kunai had pierced through her chest. Wisps of blonde hair cascaded around her face, making for a lovely, golden frame. She sighed, and smirked when Casimir gave a snort, turning his gaze from the gym leader. His crimson eyes blinked a few times before he looked over his shoulder at his trainer, who was now watching him with mild amusement. "Don't look at me like that, Casimir. You know perfectly well what he's saying is true." The silvery Absol shook his body before looking back at the Muk that had appeared before him. "Dodge it, Casimir, Quick Attack!" The girl would really rather not have a second Pokemon suffering from the badly poisoned status.

Almost effortlessly the Absol turned sharply to the left, avoiding the splatter of poisonous sludge that the Muk had slung at him. He bared his teeth slightly, but stopped, catching sight of Kasiya beckoning for him to go to her. Begrudgingly he obeyed, the gentle ringing of the Soothe Bell around his neck gracing his every step. He sat down in front of her, wondering what was so bloody important that she had to pause the match in order to talk to him. He watched her questioningly as she knelt in front of him, groaning with the effort. He sniffed the air once, looking guiltily at her side where he's slashed her the day of his capture. A slight spread of red could be seen; it seemed her crash with Adamantine had torn open a stitch or two. His cold stare softened as she started to speak to him.

"Look," she began, looking at the ground and then back to him again, as if she didn't really know what to say. "I know you don't like me. And that's perfectly fine. I also know something else. In no way, shape, or form are you a stupid or weak Pokemon." The Absol tilted his head, showing that he was still listening. "Now, one of two things can happen today. Firstly, I can use my one and only chance to change Pokemon during this battle, and I will recall you, and send out someone I know I can rely upon, like Hiro or Fa... Ariel in your stead. After the match, I will go back to Lavaridge Town in Hoenn, and I'll let you go, right in the very place we first met." She paused, letting what she'd said sink in a little before continuing. "Secondly, you can go back out there, and we can work as a team to defeat Koga and win ourselves a Soul Badge. I'm willing to give you that chance, Casimir. I want to believe in you, but I have to know that you're willing to give me a chance too. I want you to believe in me." She paused again, reaching up with a gloved hand to wipe away the stray tear that had begun slipping down her cheek. "Now what's it going to be?"

The Absol continued to watch her, weighing his options. She'd offered him his freedom. He glanced back towards Koga, and the stinking Pokemon that was his Muk. After a moment or two, the silver Pokemon stood up, and nodded at the girl. She was naive, flighty, and a bit timid, he'd admit, but she had her good points too, like how she was determined, yet kind and caring. The Dark-type could see the potential shining in her blue eyes whenever she looked at her Pokemon - it wasn't something he'd seen until just now. That was it. She always seemed to be willing to give it her all, and he would too (even if that meant listening to what she said once in a while...) Kasiya smiled, and reached out her hand, but hesitated. He'd never let her touch him before. Surprisingly enough, the silvery white Dark-type didn't shy away, and let her stroke the surprisingly soft and sleek fur on the side of his face. He made a sound that was almost like purring, but stopped himself, pulling away again. He nodded towards the Muk, clearly willing to continue the match.

"Great then," Kasiya smiled, wincing a little as she stood up. "Let's do this, Cas." She nodded, pushing her hair out of her face and pointing at the Muk; this time her mannerisms reflecting not her father, but her elder sister. "Swords Dance, and keep your distance from Muk!" she commanded, a newfound firmness in her tone.

M.A. had said very little, besides a greeting. Something chilled her to the bone. This wasn't the Crenu she'd met yesterday. Sure, he looked the same for the most part, but. . . She could feel this coldness penetrating his entire existance, and this darkness in his smile and in his words. What happened? Was this really him?

Quietly, she followed the two to the cafeteria, pondering over this like Ky was. Was she thinking too much again? Maybe. But that invisible aura of . . . would one call it wickedness? No, maybe it was more like a relentlessness for something, so much so that joy and emotion were no longer of importance. Whatever it was, it scared M.A. some; she didn't like the feeling of this sinister twistedness.

But Crenu was a friend. Maybe he would snap out of it. Maybe it was just one of his moods, she thought. Still, she could not shake off the shivering feeling that occupied her body, even if it was warm in the PokeCenter. They passed a window, and outside M.A. could see that clouds hung omniously overhead, dark in color and nature. Yesterday had been so sunny and warm, too. A sign of change? This didn't reassure her very much.

Maven had fallen asleep outside with Phyra and Vixy. She was
rudely awoken by her cousin Trevor kicking her shoes.

"Wake up Cuz! I'm told you're here for the contest that will
take place."
"Hey Trevor...ever heard of shaking someone awake?"
"Nope and you know it! So get up Maven I want to test you now."
"What?"
"You...with Phyra and the Vulpix. I have my Arbok and Sandshrew
that I'll pit against you. If I know you at all cuz, you didn't
catch that Vulpix."
"You're right and no I am not pitting my Vulpix up there, for
I'm trying to get her to be healthier cause she is supposed to
go back to the wild. I'm doing this as a favour to Nurse Joy in
Saffron. Besides Phyra is not at ANY level to take on an Arbok!
At least I know this."
"Good call...Okay how about Phyra and Sandshrew?"
"Fine we can do that. Later tell me how I do okay?"
"You're on...if you've been training Phyra for the contest then
she should be doing well and give even ME a run for my money. I
should let you know...I'm betting on you."
"Gamblings wrong! Phyra c'mon girl. I know this is different
but we're on."

Phyra got up from her resting spot and stretched out. Vixy also
woke up and started running from one end of the backyard to the
other. Trevor went to the far end of the yard and pulled out
his pokeball. He shot the ball towards the middle area of the
two it's spinning distracted Vixy.
"Let's go SANDSHREW!"
"Ready Phyra!"

There was a strange sound from the ground pokemon and Phyra let
out a neigh. The two stood facing each other, both knew what
was going on. Both had on their battle faces. Phyra lowered
her head in a way of a bow. The two waited for their commands

"Sandshrew Scratch!" Sandshrew went forward towards Phyra
"Phyra Flame Wheel!" Phyra scratched the ground with her hoof
and burst into a wild flame charging at the ground type. The two
connected with each other. Both doing some damage to the other.
As they stood back at their places. Trevor quickly noticed that
Sandshrew had been burned.

Krystal's eyes grew enourmous, and she had no time to react as the giant snake crashed into her. The impact caused her to crash to the ground, but she quickly recovered and flew a short distance away from the Steelix when she could. Flapping her ears in anger, she lurched back and took off towards her opponent a moment later.

As she grew closer to him, she opened her mouth and started to loose a Flamethrower attack.

Koga blinked. She managed to tame a beast within a matter of moments. The ninja master closed his eyes and nodded once. He must've been wrong about her all along. A smirk appeared on his lips and he shook his head. "A few gentle words does not bond a Pokemon to its trainer!" he barked, "How do you think me, my students, or your friend ever bonded? Through hard training and discipline!"

Muk let out a somewhat of a dull roar and slammed his hands on the ground. His entire form jiggled with the impact and he slowly began to crawl towards Absol, leaving a slimey trail behind like some sort of slug. Koga made a swift hand movement then pointed at Absol. "Muk! Unleash your Sludge Bomb!" he commanded. The purple glob replied by punching the air with a makeshift fist. The orb flew upwards and came crashing to the earth, aimed directly for Absol. "A chance of Poisoning still lingers, as well. You cannot escape the slow, yet crushing powers of poison!"

Steelix had no time to react, and took on the Flamethrower head on. He roared at contact, detesting the flames just as much as he detested water; without conscious command, he began to Screech at such a harsh tone that even Jasmine cringed. The whole gym nearly shook from his ear-splitting roar.

"Quickly, before she moves away, Iron Tail!" Jasmine commanded with gusto, quickly regaining composure. Brutishly, the Steelix lifted his long, rock-hard tail, letting it glow brightly for just a second before it made its way heavily into the elegant Dragonair's back.

Kilik blinked at how quickly she had managed to sway both Ludicolo and Weezing into accepting new moves. It wasn't a worry with Flareon; Kilik knew from the very start that the fox would be willing for a new attack anytime. He crouched and handed the Toxic, Flamethrower, and Thunderbolt TMs to Rena. "Teach all of those to Weezing for me, would you?"

"Can do, dear," she winked and looked at the three disks in her hand, then turned to Weezing, placing the first item (Toxic) against his forehead. Nothing was happening. Then, suddenly, his empty mind began to swirl with new images of himself spewing a purple sludge, combined with a squirt of mist from his body and a target falling over and succumbing to the poison. A goofy grin appeared on his face. Rena smiled and tossed the blank CD over her shoulder, flipping over to Thunderbolt.

While his friend was learning new moves, Ludicolo wasn't forgotten. Kilik placed both Ice Beam and Rain Dance on his head, into his hat. The two disks spun rapidly around, as if chasing each other. Images of cold wind being sprayed from his mouth and rain being summoned upon his command now filled his mind. A glazed look appeared in his eyes when this was happening. Suddenly, they all stopped. A normal appearance returned to his eyes. "See?" Kilik laughed, "That wasn't so bad, was it?" He looked over at his Weezing, seeing three discarded disks behind Rena's figure.

"Well!" he laughed, picking up Flareon and placing him on the ground, "Seems you're all that's left!" He held up Weezing and Ludicolo's Pokeballs and recalled them into their safety, then clipped them back onto his belt. "Flamethrower's really going to make you stronger. I can feel it." Kilik took the disk and placed it against his partner's forehead. A burning sensation arose in the fox's chest. His eyes lit up with fire and his mind became blurred with flames. The idea of him jumping into the air and spewing a stream of fire excited him. The fox let out a happy bark when the disk had died out. "Good!" He took Flareon's ball and recalled him, kissing the top.

"Now that's all taken care of..." he paused, "Off! To see Koga!" he laughed.

Debilitated due to the loud noise Steelix had emanated, Krystal was too busy trying to ignore the sound, as opposed to dodging the attack that was thrown her way. She was struck by its tail and flew back quite a ways, crashing onto the ground. While she was stronger than the Steelix, its attack still hurt her on a decent level.

"Gah. I see how it is," Krystal said, shaking off her damage. "But, I can play rough too." Her ears flapped a few times before she whipped up another Twister, sending it towards her opponent. Immediately after performing that attack, she summoned up a large wave of water and blasted it into the Twister, creating a typhoon of sorts.

Kasiya grinned, and chuckled a bit. "I am well aware that time, as well as hard training and discipline will help us to form a bond," she replied. "But I believe we've finally taken the first steps to achieving it." She bit her bottom lip, feeling a bit sheepish for having spoken out like that. I hope he doesn't get mad at me and have me thrown out, the girl thought fearfully.

Having completed his attack-raising dance, the Absol's body shimmered with a faint red glow. He distinctly heard his trainer call for a Double Team, and he allowed his graceful momentum to carry him into the maneuver. His body flashed and became not one, but five, each moving in unison. The glob of sludge sailed through one of the copies, causing it to vanish. The Absol repositioned himself, each clone mimicking his every move, away from the Sludge Pokemon.

A surprised look overcame Kasiya's face, but it vanished as quickly as it came. She hadn't said a word just now. But I was just going to tell him to do that, she thought. It must be coincidence... "Try another Aerial Ace," she said, scratching the side of her head. The threat of poison wasn't very alluring, although the girl did admire the slow, creeping death poison brought along with it. And even if Koga's poisoning techniques would end up being trouble, she always had her trump card.

"Phyra growl girl!" Phyra released a growl, Sandshrew didn't
seem to be affected.
"Sandshrew Scratch!" Sandshrew didn't waste anytime running with
it's claws extended and scratched Phyra across the right upper
front leg.
"Quick attack now!" Phyra ran forward and put her head down for
a full charge as she neared the ground pokemon she stopped on
her front hooves and let her back end do the most damage.
Sandshrew rolled into a ball and fell backwards a few feet. As
he got up he ran back to his position in front of Trevor.
"Scratch!" Sandshrew started to head towards Phyra but flinched
from his burn.
"Okay Phyra...Lets finish this! FLAME WHEEL!"

Phyra let out a neigh as she engulfed herself in flames and
ran full tilt at the ground pokemon. Sandshrew was hit hard as
he rolled to the far end of the backyard he didn't get up. Trevor
called back his Sandshrew and walked up to Phyra.

"She's got a good pokemon on her hands." Trevor lightly patted
Phyra.
"Nice Sandshrew Cuz."
"Yeah...need to work with him a bit more though"
"As always. Thanks for the work out cuz."
"Yeah...we'll have to do it again before the contest though."
"Yeah of course gotta keep me on my toes."
"Maybe we can work on that Vulpix together."
"Her Name is Vixy."
"yea yea! I gotta go cuz." Trevor took off inside the house.

Maven lied back down with Phyra and Vixy jumped between the two
before lieing down between. Maven without thinking started to
pet the other Pokemon.

Koga's lip twitched. Though this was the child of Surge, she lacked the proper respect. However, the man said nothing at this stage and watched the Absol's copies mimic the real one. He growled slightly to himself. A sharp pain wrenched through his shoulder, but the master showed no signs of weakness.

Muk, on the other hand, didn't have a chance to be so calm. The sharp blade of wind energy slashed into wherever a Muk's shoulder would be located. The Sludge Pokemon let out a cry, his entire form wobbling slightly. "Muk! Attack with Toxic again!" Koga called out. The Pokemon inched towards Absol, reaching a 'hand' out to grab him. A fine purple haze also emitted from the Pokemon's body.

Entering the cafeteria Crenu grabbed a tray and made his way to the different pokemon foods. Looking at them carefully, he picked three different bowls of poke food and then took a sandwich for himself from the human section. He wasn't that hungry, and he was was in a bit of a hurry. He hadn't noticed M.A. before and turned his head to face her with the tray of food. He looked at her and said nothing for a bit, then turned his head again. He saw the look of dismay on her and Ky's face and let his pokemon out. "Something the matter M.A.? Ky?" His pokemon flooded the floor with red light as they appeared, but they did not jump with the exuberance that they normally had, no, instead they just stood there like zombies with a look of scorn on their faces. He placed the bowls on the floor and watched as they devoured their pallets, then sat at a table facing the two who he had come to know as friends.

"So you are sending out the little dragon huh? Well that’s fine with me! Freefree lets show it your Poison Powder!" Twirling around in the air some more the Butterfree released the purple powder that started to waft around the area. Quickly Dante and Kenny put a bit of there own sheet over there noses. Of to the side Apollo simply started to turn the flames up and burn all the powder that came near him or his team mates.

"Bahamut fly over the powder and then show it your Toxic attack." The dragon pokemon did just that, her wings buzzing at the high speeds they were vibrating at. Going up high into the air Bahamut successfully avoided the attack. Opening her mouth she shot a foul looking goo at the Butterfree hitting it head on.

The butterfly pokemon gave a strangled cry and did its best to wipe the toxin off of it. After a moment she managed to wipe it off of her face and glared up at Bahamut. "We aren’t going to take that. Use your Gust and bring the powder up with you!" For once not twirling around, the poison was starting to take effect; the Butterfree started flapping its wings in order to make a mini tornado of poison powder and the wind attack. With a final thrust she shot it up into the air directly at Bahamut.

"Bahamut use Dragon Breath! Try to shoot it through the gust!" Dante called from the window seal. However with the harsh wind going on and his voice basically gone the Dragon didn't hear it and instead was hit by the poison cyclone.

"Teleport!" Mitsu cried as the deadly flames shot forth from the Numel's body. Karri disappeared in a matter of seconds and reappeared behind Numel, still recieveing a bit of the damage from the Fire/Ground Pokemon's Overheat. It's fire attack from that point on would be weaker than they had been when the match had started. That was if the Pokemon could survive another attack.

"Shadow Ball!" Mitsu called out. While the attack wasn't exactly the strongest move Karri new Mitsu felt it would somehow be enough. The poor Pokemon looked near his end already. Then again she could always have been wrong. "I know you have stronger Pokemon Flannery!" Mitsu said looking up from the Pokemon to the redhead gym leader.

Still behind the Numel Karri formed a ball of dark energy in between her two hands. The orb glowed with a purple and grayish energy. With a flicker the Shadow Ball flew from her hands, aimed directly at Numel's back.
