Marcus couldn't help it. He was always smiling around her. "I need to go now," he told her regretfully, sliding his arms out from under her and sitting up. "He's dead by now, I hope?"

"And buried, naturally." Terryn rolled onto her back and stretched her arms above her head before sitting up herself.

"You are on top of things," he said admiringly, getting out of bed and getting some clothes for himself. "I'll see you later this evening. Well, if all goes well. But if I'm too late, you shouldn't stay up for me."

Terryn blinked. "What am I supposed to do with myself?" She got up from the bed and stood in front of him so he couldn't go off and change. "Why can I not join you? I refuse to walk around all day bored to death."

"You're contradicting yourself," answered Marcus distractedly, moving to the side and rolling up the blueprints. "There's a nice library in here, and a decent archery range in the back. Honestly, you'll be walking around bored to death if you come with me."

Terryn frowned and sighed. "I suppose. But if you need the mind of a female genius, then you need only ask." She gave him a few kisses and stepped aside for him. "Have a lovely day."

"I will try my best," promised Marcus, kissing Terryn quickly on the cheek and heading out the door to change. He left his nightclothes in the washroom, as he was already late, and he took a piece of bread and cheese with him on his way to the coach. The next four hours were spent alternating between authoritativeness and terrible boredom.

Meanwhile, Terryn had indeed found herself a good time in the large library that the manor boasted. She picked out quite a few novels and some Greek philosophy books, taking a seat in a large armchiar and flipping through the pages.

The plans were in motion now; the manor was going to be restored. Marcus's work was done. Or so he thought. At least half a dozen gentlemen (and another dozen that were less gentle) demanded/requested to see him, and Marcus was practically strapped to his chair, forced to spend the entire afternoon and evening speaking to them. By the time he stepped into the coach, it was nearly ten. He had eaten a small dinner between meetings.

Terryn was currently sleeping in the library, dozens of books scattered on the floor. She had taken a break in the middle of the day to do some archery practice and eat, but had come straight back after dinner. She was currently curled up in her seat with a copy of Plato's Theory of Atlantis in her lap.

By the time that Marcus had arrived and finished bathing, he automatically assumed that Terryn was soundly asleep in the bedroom. When it was discovered that she was not, in fact, in the bedroom, he went to the library and almost laughed aloud when he saw her. He decided to leave her there, and went back to bed.

Terryn heard the laughter and stirred, never being one to sleep too deeply. She looked around, realizing from the moonlight streaming through the window that she had fallen asleep. She dragged herself off the bed and ambled lazily back to the bedroom.

Marcus was half asleep when Terryn stumbled in, the moonlight hitting her full-on. He didn't say anything, but he did tug at her hand enough so that she fell into the bed.

"Umf!" Terryn landed on top of Marcus, having been too tired to resist. She didn't even bother on getting into her nightgown, she simply rolled off of him and curled up, yawning a bit. "How was work?"

Marcus responded with a sort of groaning noise that seemed to communicate exactly how work had been. Painfully dull, and bothersome. It was a pity that Marcus had to deal with people (and particularly pompous and stupid ones, at that) in his line of work.
