I must have overlooked sum posts, becaus I couldn't find one about F-HORNS. I am a senior, and am first Horn in Concert band (highest at my school) and marching-section leader(Mello). I have marched in a DCI core before and it was awesome. What I hate, and I sympathize for all you other f horns out ther who are stuck in this position, is when my dumb-*** director in early years put me on a single horn for 3 years-'!Help!' tell them to give tou a double as soon as possible, it sounds much better and will make a difference. Trust me, I made the mistake once, and wished I hadn't, for now(well not now but 3 or 4 years back) my chops and air support were used to a single and I had trouble playing. Anyway, go Horns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heya!I'm new to the guild.I'm also the French Horn/Mellophone section leader at school. And I still will be next year too seeing as how I'm only a junior.
Mello is my preferred instrument of the two though.I'd much rather march with my mello than sit and play my horn.I'm even asking my parents for a mellophone for my graduation gift so I can have my own when I go to college.
Here's a quick question for you guys though, what size mouth piece do you use for your mellophones?
I have a 10 1/2 C.It's the only one my school has and I'm taking it with me to college.I love my mouth piece. It makes hitting the G's, A's, etc. above the staff so much easier.

Howdy. French Horns rock. I just got a shiny brand new Conn model 9D (or 8D, I honestly don't know) and it rocks!!! I got it because I am first chair.

I miss the French horn! I've been marching the flugelhorn in a certain college band... long story... and I haven't played in a concert band this year.

Woot! Go horns. I've been playing for a while now, my school doesn't have a marching band (which I'm happy about) so I mostly play in Orchestras and Wind Ensembles.
Anybody here like Woodwind Quintets as much as I do?

Woohoo! Go horns! xD
I am the ONLY horn player in our highschool band, because we are so small. I'm a sophomore, and the only other horn player is a seventh grader.
I like to tease him. xD But yeah, horns are awesome! My mom played the horn, so that's why I first wanted to play.

hello everyone! I'm Jennifer, and I'm the only freshman mellophone player at my school, and i hate it. i always get picked on by my section leader. but we are pretty good friends now i suppose.
so yeh, we are going to tampa, florida on saturday to play at the outback bowl and we'll also be in a parade there too. but while we are there we will be able to go to bush gardens! =)
i'm excited.
but anyways, i play french horn in concert band and i used to play single horn, which seems to be neglected now because i borrow a seniors double horn.
well, the best of luck to you all. =)
message me if you wanna talk btw.
MELLIES ROCKKK!
