The wolf had been lying there awake and waiting for Jaden's grip to loosen so that she would have a free range of movement so when he woke up and let go of her to run his claws through his hair she made no objection. She could see the clear and hear the obvious change in Jaden's demenor and she figured he wouldn't want her crowding him now so she jumped off the couch and sat on the ground next to him. Her lavender gaze was adverted from his colder and more haunted eyes to show her Alpha respect and to assure him she was not challenging him.

~His son and Duke have yet to return.~

The moment she answered she shifted back into her human form and wordlessly navigated the hallway to find the bathroom, her feet gently padding against the floor as she did so. A flick of the fan turning on and running, a closing of the door and the running of the water were the only sounds made as she disappeared from sight.

As she let the water run down her body Sibyl noted the dried blood becoming wet again as the water ran overtop of it and observed as the water running in the shower turned from clear to crimson. However, after a few moments the water reverted back to its natural consistency and colour and things went about the way they usually did when one washed oneself.

Jaden didn't do anything except for get up and put on a set of jeans, his bushy tail still swishing gently. Other than that he glanced over at his crusted hands, looking at them with something akin to self loathing, though in a different vein. There had been a very long discussion internally but it had gotten nowhere at all. Still, looking at his claws he felt the same melencholy sensation that he always did after a senseless massacre.

Sibyl usually sang while she was in the shower but she was a slight bit too modest to sing in front of anyone besides perhaps her family so she softly hummed to herself instead of forming words. She didn't take long to scrub herself down and get all the grime and grit off of her and soon enough she emerged from the bathroom but not before shaking her hair out and leaving drops of water plastered against the walls of the bathroom. She had a black tank top and some dark gray jeans on and she emerged to find Jaden staring at his hand with what seemed to be contempt as well as sadness.

Seeing as Sibyl didn't want him to focus on the bad things she decided to join him and talk to him as opposed to letting him stare at his claws and despair. "You should wash yourself up. I made sure not to hog all the hot water like I usually do. My sister always got mad at me because I really like showers and water so I'd always use up the warm water."

She sat beside him and took his hand into her own and surveyed his palm and began tracing the lines of his palm, bringing it close to her face as her lavender eyes squinted to inspect it. Her nose crinkled up though it was not from her smelling something, it was from her confusion. "How do humans read palms? These lines don't make any sense to me, I don't see any stories within the lines of your palm." She rotated his palm as though it would make a difference and looked at it from different perspectives only to crinkle her nose yet again in dissatisfaction. Finally she accepted defeat and gently gave Jaden his hand back by setting it in his lap. There had been something childish and yet serene in the way she'd examined and investigated his hand.

Jaden smirked gently, being slowly pulled from his revere though a shower held no interest to him at the moment. He was far more interested in Sibyls attitude towards him. Never really scared, though she had seen him at his worst. She was one of those mysteries that helped to fill his mostly sleepless nights.
"It's not the palm reading so much as the markings." Jaden said quietly, more going from wisdom than anything. "Bodies themselves carry the ability to tell many things over the years, each small mark is some testament to lineage or history. We Lycan's though, have the power to heal our own bodies far faster than any humans, So most markings happen before we are turned." Jaden turned his hand over several times. There were dozens of small scars across his hands, some far deeper and more evident than others.
"Sometimes things happen that bring evidence to the contrary though." he said with something akin to a smile. "Like significant trauma. Here." He took hold of her hand and placed it high on his chest under his left arm over a starburst scar in a tight circle. "That was my own rib after I plummetted down a cliff and onto the rocks below. My body actually tried to heal over it before I reset it three days later. Or..." He placed her arm on the right side of his neck where a strange series of five scars ran up to his cheek. "That was my brother when we actually fought, the wounds were covered in ice so I couldn't heal them in time. Or..." Jaden actually used her finger to trace the diagonal scar the cut from the top right of his forehead down slightly past the left side of his mouth. "Black blood rune sword weilded by a vampire assassin." He finally dropped her hand, dried blood flaking off into her palm as he did so. "There are many, many stories."

Sibyl didn't try to come off as mysterious, there really wasn't anything mysterious about her as far as she was concerned. She was out in the open with all of her opinions since she was extremely blunt and usually spoke her mind due to not being a civilized human. Social cues were also things she often failed to detect and instead of following the norm she often missed such cues and became confused when people looked at her strangely. Then again she supposed that humans were strange to her so it was only fair they thought her strange when they looked at or talked to her.

"I don't get how to read the markings of the palm, though, there's no story in the lines of the palm that I can see. I can see possible stories in your scars but those have nothing to do with your palms, silly. Hm ... I don't think I have any scars ... At least none that I've noticed or felt before but it is amazing how you can recollect each story from each different scar."

Where as some people would have perhaps seen such a moment as a bonding moment or even a somewhat sexual moment, Sibyl's naievety and ignorance of human behaviour kept her clued out. She didn't react to her hand touching Jaden other than growing interested and intrigued by his stories as she had before when he'd mentioned Yura and how she'd bee a cruel woman that forced him to kill others. She was pretty good at recalling stories, after all, she grew up being told many herself.

"Many stories such as? You should tell me something else from your travels and existences."

Eager to learn and hear another's tale as always, Sibyl waited patiently for Jaden to tell a tale. Had she been in her wolven form her tail would have been wagging but she was in her human form and instead she leaned back into the couch and stared at the ceiling for some reason unbeknownst to even herself.

Jaden smiled kindly, not used to being asked about stories. Usually in the past those that asked about his past were short lived.
"What kind of story do you want to hear then?" he asked with a smile of fangs. "Inform me of what you want."

Sibyl thought for a while about what kind of story she would like to hear only to realize and conclude that she no real preference as to what kind of story it was he recollected. Whichever tale he so chose to recollect was fine with her, she just enjoyed listening to stories and Jaden's were certainly interesting. They were tales of his past and while she couldn't figure out how to read his palm to see his stories, she could sit here as he reminisced and listen to what he had to say in order to learn more about him.

"It doesn't matter," the wolf answered bluntly, "what kind of story. Choose one that you wish to tell and I will sit here and listen all the same."

She sunk back even further into the couch, clearly preparing herself for what could potentially prove to be a long story. The wolf enjoyed being comfortable while listening to stories as most did so she adjusted her seat a few times. She stood up on her feet and then sat back down only to get up again, spin in a circle and sit back down yet again. Foolish to one that watched perhaps but comfy for another.

Jaden's tail swished as he leaned back and thought. There were so many stories, not all of them his. And how were you supposed to choose from them all?
In abscent thought his tail swished over a small wound just below his right shoulder blade and he knew something to tell. "Let's go with a love story." he finally said, licking his fingers clean as he drifted back slowly. "We begin in a small village in France..."

In a village that no longer exists, back when the age of enlightenment was just taking hold and science was blooming, there lived a young man called Emil. Now this man was the most plain of plain individuals. A blonde haired, blue-eyed boy with nothing of note, on the surface at least.
Now Emil was gifted with his hands and had a certain affinity for metal. So under the tuetelage of the local blacksmith his skills grew, eventually up to a level that individuals from other villages came to view his work. In forging and blacksmithing Emil did have a special eye for beauty though, with the crude materials available to him he was able to create jewelry of exquiste quality.
Well, word of this magnificent jewler caught the ears of Simone, the daughter of the Countess De'Laroch. She was facinated by the concept that an apprentice to a blacksmith could fashion iron and steel into such beautiful creations.
Well Simone eventually convinced her mother to visit the village so that they may see this gifted man. Upon arriving there the women were overtaken by the beauty that this plain man could create from raw materials. Feeling that his skills were being wasted the Countess struck a deal with Emil. She said that so long as the young man gave fifty percent of his future profits to her family they would be his backer and provide him with the materials for a proper quality of jewlery. Emil gladly accepted the offer of the Countess, partly because it meant a greater quality of his work but he had ulterior motives. You see, as soon as he had laid eyes upon Simone he had fallen madly in love with the Countess' daughter, and with her family backing him he would have a chance to see her again.

Jaden paused in his story, apparently in thought. In truth he was trying to piece the information back together properly since a vast majority of this particular was known to him second hand from a far more... original source. With the puzzle pieces falling back into place he continued.

As it happened, Emil was gifted but he had never worked with precious metals and stones before. Well, the first and most amazing piece he wanted to create was a potential gift for Simone De'Laroch as a token of his love. Based on his inexperience he chose to create something simple as his first attempt at fine jewelery. The item he chose to create was a silver hairpin for his newest creation. This hairpin was a simple creation, no jewels to adorn it just an intricate working of metal. Emil spent nearly a week on the hairpin, bending it and twisting and reshaping the metal as he tested his new medium. Finally settling with his new skills Emil set to work producing many fine bracelets, necklaces and broochs, among them was a necklace of exquiste gold inlaid with silver and a large opal that he thought might please his love.
After a month of working with his new materials Emil set out to the mansion of the Countess with his creations.
Within the reception hall the young jewler set his new pieces out on the large table and await approval from his backer, but more than anything for the approval of Simone.
Emil then offered any of his works as a gift to Simone in thanks for her gaining her mothers ear and giving him this opportunity. Simone was extremely flattered at this, you see among all of her suiters none had ever offered her creations wrought with their own hands. Among the items she searched through she came upon the simple silver hairpin and immediately placed it in her long dark hair.
The young man was surprised at the choice from his obviously better and more costly pieces. The young woman smiled to him and said "Of all your amazing work only this piece contains the full range of your skills."
That moment was cemented to be the time when their love truly blossomed for each other.

Jaden rotated his right arm as he considered the next phase, slightly more tricky to tell as the other characters came in. Still, it was a story for Sibyl.

A few years passed and Emil did quite well for himself, keeping his relationship with Simone a secret as they were of different classes. It was not as open as they desired but they were happy with their lives, so long as they could see each other.
Well, as most love stories go there is usually a rival, and even the story of the plain but gifted Emils was no exception. As fate would have it Simone De'Laroch had been discovered by the young nobleman who ruled all of the surrounding region. This man, Julian, was attractive and powerful and he usually got what he wanted. Simone's mother was growing weak at this time, and she only wanted what he thought was best for her daughter. So she promised Simone to Julian.

It's a strange thing how quickly nostolgia sets in when left unchecked. Even stranger still when your stories take life when they are not wholly yours.

Obviously the news of Simones betrothal to the nobleman Julian hit Emil painfully. Truly distraught that the love of his life was being given away to another Emil set out to meet with the nobleman and plead his case. He was a convincing individual, bringing many of his greatest pieces to barter with though Julian would have none of it, he was used to getting what he wanted after all.
In a fit of passion Emil actually threw himself the nobleman, for all the good that it did him. Now whether impressed or simply amused Julian is beside the point, the the nobleman did give a task to Emil, that if he succeded not only would he have Simone but he would gain the title of Count.
How is one supposed to pass up such a chance when so madly in love?
This task assigned was not going to be so simple though, for such a prize something great must be offered in return.
Julian told Emil of something that had occured within his lands recently. A great black wolf had been spotted, slaughtering livestock and terrorizing citizens within his city. The wolf itself had garnered different names from the citizens though in those times it was thought that the devil had taken the shape of a wolf due to it's size and strange behavior. The guards and police of the city, despite their best efforts, had been unable to stop or even locate the beast. Emils task was to bring back this creature alive for Julians court.
Having no choice in the matter Emil accepted the proposal.
As Emil set out for his first night of patrol, clutching his rapier and bow with him, he found nothing in particular to suggest that the city was under attack by the devil. He did not sleep all that night in his search, or the night after that. And so it went for an entire month without incident, the tired jewler hardly slept through the days as he continued his search.
The date of the wedding drew closer and Emil had nothing to show for his efforts. Though on that night he had two unexpected visitors.
While rounding a street corner that he felt he had walked a thousand times before Emil came face to face with the devil wolf, a massive animal easily the size of a horse. Imagine that, a young jewlery maker coming across an animal that had elluded the cities best for over three months. Whether through courage or love Emil let loose his bow and shot the animal in the shoulder. The enraged creature rushed the young man, ready to rip him apart, though stopped short and collapsed in front of him. Emil looked up to see Simone, the love of his life, and his silver hair pin embedded in the animals back from where she had thrown it. News had reached her that her lover had been attempting to win her back by catering to the whims of the lord and hunting a monster so she had come to stop him, and arrived in time to save his life by wedging the hairpin into the creatures back near its shoulder and into its spine, paralyzing it. In the dead of the city night they embraced in front of their mutual catch and what would certainly lead to their own perfect union.

Jaden flicked his ears slightly as he took a chance to pause.

Sibyl listened intently and since she was horrible at acting and lying it was clear that she was enjoying the tale because her lavender eyes sparked with curiousity as she clearly began processing possible questions to ask him after he was finished. Her full attention was on Jaden and she didn't interrupt him once though she did get the urge to ask him her questions but she decided to withhold them until his tale was over. She would treat him as she had any elder that she'd listened to within her pack, with respect.

He smiled slightly at Sibyls behavior. It was interesting to view Sibyl as he told her stories. But there did need to be a conclusion to this story so that's how he was playing.

Most could imagine the surprise displayed by Julian when the massive wolf was dragged into his court. Honestly he never thought that Emil would accomplish anything, and so close to the deadline too. Still he was pleased with the gift, removing the arrow in the creature and placing it within a cage in his court for his own amusement.
Men have different concepts of honor. For Julian he was never placed in the position before. Perhaps that is why he acted the way he did. Julian kept only half of his promise, bestowing a lordship upon Emil but refusing to relinquish his betrothal to Simone. The poor jeweler was only given what he didn't really want. And to make the pain of this humiliation greater it was told to Emil at a great party to celebrate his success.
His pride injured and his love going to be lost to him Emil trecked home from the house of the corrupt nobleman, only to run into his beloved who had followed him out of the party. Within the comfort of each others arms Emil told his love that they were not to be together, breaking her down from a noblewoman to a young girl.
In her sorrow Simone told her love that she would run away with him, free them both from Julians grasps, but first she wanted what was hers back. Returning to the party she snuck over towards the cage of the great animal she had helped to catch. Reaching through the bars she pulled free the silver hairpin that had been hidden by it's black fur and lodged into its spine. For the first time since it's capture the wolf moved and gazed at the young woman. It wasn't known why but she whispered to the animal to stay quiet for her benifit and why she couldn't be caught. Whether there was any true meaning behind it or not the wolf nodded and watched as Simone ran from the party to return to her love and start a new life together.
That night, Late in the party, the wolf escaped from it's cage. The animal injured many of the guests in it's attempt to escape, finally escaping out into the night. Oddly enough only one person was killed in the wolf's escape, the Lord of the domicile, Julian.
Three nights later news of the lords death caught the ears of Emil and Simone, halting their run. In some glorious return they came back into the city. Not only were they welcomed but both were acknowledged for their status as royalty. Emil and Simone married within the week and Emil took his own family crest, a great shield of silver adorned with a black wolf.
Many years passed for the Count and Countess in bliss. Emil still created jewelery when he could, and act that was viewed as slightly more than an eccentricity, and Simone continued to be a beautiful and dominate woman. Though they were both happy together after twenty five years and four children Simone fell ill. Despite the improved medicine of that era there was nothing that could be done and she died five years later.
After another twelve years of solitude Emil himself fell ill with the same disease that had claimed his wife.
On his death bed and within his dying hours the greatest Jeweler in the land began hallucinating and seeing images of the past. Only different among them among them and most consistant was a man with long black hair and a wild look to him. This man mentioned many events of Emils life with Simone and even details of his children, happy moments witnessed by an unbiased individual. In turn Emil told the hallucination of his past before Simone up until their marriage. Reliving the great love of his life was apparently all that the man needed and within his last moments, clutching the silver hairpin that he had been his loves favorite piece, he thought he saw his beloved Simone as she was when she was young and as his life ended he could feel the warmth of her hand upon his, just like the first time their love had blossomed.

Jaden yawned slightly, having never actually told that story before he was wondering about any details he had left out but he decided to leave it alone. "Emil's family became very renowned eventually." he said. "I actually believe that his decendants own a massive jewelers company in France, very high end stuff."

Sibyl had been attentive and quiet throughout the story and though she'd looked at Jaden to assure him that she was listening as was a human tendency to do, she'd been taught, she didn't look him directly in the eyes. Her lavender eyes looked at the walls behind him and watched him through her peripherals or she looked just below his eyes at his nose or just above at his forehead. However, she simply decided to just settle down in her little nest she'd made for herself and stare at the ceiling. She had her legs resting on the back of the couch while her head was dangling off the edge of the couch, her brilliant auburn hair cascading down the couch like a magnificent red waterfall.

"Am I to assume," Sibyl asked just to be certain there were no misunderstandings since she had a way of misinterpreting many things that humans said to her, "that you were the wolf they managed to capture and paralyze and that's how you know this story? And that you were his hallucination and watched over him as he died? A big black wolf, a man with long black hair and a wild look to him, that sounds like something a human would use to describe you is it not? How did you manage to have a young human noble woman stick a hair pin in your back? You struck me as a little quicker to react than that." Her last two sentences were uttered with a smile, she was teasing him though her voice had been fairly monotone so it was difficult to tell.

Her smile then changed to one of wamrth and tenderness as she recalled the parts of the story where the couple had been united. "You did a good thing, you know. You didn't kill Simone when she asked you to keep quiet and you did just as she asked you and you let her leave. See? You are a good person and you have a good heart, you just need to recall that and if it's through your stories that you remember then so be it."

Jaden smirked. "At that point I was as a wolf, not a Lycan. My speed and reaction times were severely diminished. That and perhaps it was just luck on the womans part. Had it just been in my back then I wouldn't have stopped from killing the man, but having silver in your nervous system is usually fatal, so for me it rendered me immobile."
He glanced down at Sibyls slightly strange position. "But my behavior is not the point of the story. I was interested in their relationship since I had exited one not long before. That is all."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 29, 2009 10:52 pm

She did a perfect crunch in order to bring herself back upright on the couch so that all the blood didn't rush to her head. The wolf hated that feeling quite a bit along with any other numbness symptom or causer. "No your behaviour is not the point of the story but it influcened characters within the story so I decided I wanted to know more about one of the key characters that played such a vital role."

Jaden actually laughed. His manner of doing so was a single brief exclamation of sound. "Okay then." he said with a smile that showed his fangs. "So you now ask about the story. What key character interests you the most?" He geastured with his hand in a smooth glide.
