Devon blinked down at Lark, shocked. He was still stunned as her mother dragged her from him. How Lark just TOLD him to do something? No round about 'can you do this?' or 'would you stop?'. No apology, or please even followed it. He was filled with a sense of pride. For once slightly happy to be told something. And a little annoyed. In his distraction he gain a normal human appearance. He looked around and say Alice holding Lark away from him. Calmly he pushed aside the prince and detached Lark from her mother and into his arms. "I suppose we will have to explain." he remarked dryly.
Alice watched, her heart beating out of her chest as the man --monster-- neared. He looked normal now, but that didn't change what she had seem. She was starting to hyperventilate as she was calmly pushed aside. He was strong but wasn't harming her. She still screeched and fell back against the table.

Lark went into Devon's arms gladly, despite the fact that she was still upset with him. even though she was cornered for her mother who looked ready to pass out and the Prince she couldn't even look at him but his face told her he was angry and afraid. It was understandable in a way, it wasn't every day that you found out that there was a predator such as a werewolf was real and it was staring you in the face, and you were in the same room with it. Lark even forgot every once in awhile that Devon was a predator not that it mattered he had made it clear that she was not his or any wolf's prey. "Mom, Sir Prince, I think it's obvious now that my beloved fiancée is not human, but he isn't a monster just different, I'm going to let Devon explain and show you so don't panic he won't hurt anyone here, I promise." Lark started speaking calmly before standing back and letting Devon take over.

Devon sighed. "You see. You were never supposed to know, but I can't very well keep my temper when my m--," he coughed. "When my fiancee is being asked to leave me." Devon continued. "I am a werewolf. We have been around for as long as you humans have. It's nothing new, just a secret we don't much like sharing. And don't jump to conclusions. We have no interest in killing anyone." Devon looked at their faces and despite the evidence they had seen their was still doubt in their eyes. So he began disrobing until he was in his underwear. The transformation was quick, his temper making it easy. He shook his fur out, uncomfortable in underwear. Then he sat his large bulk beside Lark and looked at her expectantly.
Alice had no works. She stared in disbelief and sat down onto the chair beside her.

Lark smiled in wonder, even though she had seen Devon's wolf many times before she was still awed by his beauty. It was quite clear that even in this form Devon was no normal wolf he was to big, towering over her, and his eyes which betrayed his human intelligence, but to Lark he was beautiful as when she first saw him his effect was ruined though by the fact that he was in his underwear it would have been funny if not for the fact that the situation was so tense. Lark put a hand on top of his head, to keep her self and him calm. The Prince was also speechless but unlike Alice he recovered quickly. "Are you saying that there are more like you, and who's to say that you won't one day decide to kill this girl who is obviously confused and misguided by some spell of yours. Why should she marry a monster."

Devon growled and rolled his eyes. He looked to Lark. Tell him just because I am a supernatural doesn't make me a savage monster. I don't kill pointlessly. Only for food. And we can't do magic or enchantments. That's a silly idea. he said to her. Then Devon looked over at the Prince again.

Lark sighed and kept her hand on Devon's ruff as a silent reminder that she didn't want him attacking anyone, and his growling only made her grip it a little tighter but she repeated Devon's message even though her mother looked a little more shocked if that was all possible but she turned her attention back to the prince as he spoke again. "Ah is that what you call the possible countless human lives you and yours have killed, and how can you say you don't do magic yet you use this girl to speak for you and what do you call this it looks like magic to me, how come she can you and we can't" The prince said

Devon settled down. He relaxed and settled down. He continued to look at the Prince in an irritated manner. We never killed without being provoked. Those ancient stories are exaggerations. Most of that didn't happen and what did was self defense. Any who do kill for pleasure are put down. he explained, bluntly. Lark hears me because she is my mate. She is pack. Perhaps it is magic, but I can't explain it anymore than you. It just is. I can't influence her any more than you.
Alice couldn't believe her eyes. Every part of her denied this completely. She stood stunned. "You must have put a spell on her. How else could she be, okay with this!" she snapped. The wolf gave her such a sharp look that she immediately sat down again.

Lark sighed repeated what Devon had told her to the prince even though she was started to get uncomfortable with being in the middle of the two men with all the tension in the air, she was blushing when she repeated the part about being his mate. She had accepted that fact that she was Devon's mate but it was a little embarrassing to say so out loud like that. Turning her attention to her mother Lark spoke with out Devon speaking to her. "Mom, it's not magic like you think it is I accept Devon as he is because I truly love, he's the same person just a lot more furry than most."

Devon made a few huffing sounds, looking pleased. He like hearing her state that she was his out loud. And he was amused with the fur comment. However, the underwear was really, really chaffing. He wasn't in near good enough mood to stay that way. So he stood and shook himself, feeling recovered enough to stand another change. He never let Lark know how... uncomfortable a shift was. Devon shifted back slowly until he was back to normal and sighed. "That's better." he muttered, grabbing his pants. "Sorry you have to interpret, love." he said to Lark. He looked between both of them. "Any more questions?"
Alice seemed to have gotten a hold on herself enough to think more clearly. "Please, give the Prince a chance? How much harm can one date do? If you are my beloved daughter, wouldn't you do this for me?" she pleaded.

Lark wasn't really paying Devon any real attention any more now that he wasn't talking in her mind anymore, so she didn't really here what Devon said to her, so she didn't have to work as hard to block Devon from the emotions that was slowly wearing her down. She was slowly trying to regain control and she tuned in again right when her mother said the thing that pushed her over the edge and the wall in her mind broke the wall she put up between them as her hurt between what her mother just said she knew that every hurt she had felt that night and the hurt she felt now he knew all of what she had been trying to hide from him. She felt tears coming into her eyes and she wanted to be anywhere but in that living room. "Ok mom, sure." She said quickly before running out of the house and in the car to hide in the back seat.

Alice smiled in triumphantly. "It's settled then." she said happily. Not in the least upset when lark ran out. She looked at fear her fear seeming to be replaced by anger. "I'll make sure that filth like you can't get your claws into her." she spat.
Devon was shocked. He stared after Lark, stunned. He was no longer paying attention to the two others in the room. He felt like he had been stabbed. She had agreed. To see someone else. His finance out romantically with someone else. His shoulders drooped, too upset by this to be angry. He followed after her, walking out of the house and leaving the two snakes behind. He opened the car door and got behind the wheel. He could see her in the rear view mirror. He voice was completely devoid of any emotion. "Are you really going to go on a date with him?"

Lark had her face hidden behind her knees, her jeans soaked at the knees where she had been crying which she still was when Devon followed her out and got in the car. It took her a moment to swallow a sob to speak. "Yes, I have to, I have to make her see that I do love but I can't love the prince, this is the only way and I'm sorry if you hate me now for it besides its not like you trust me anyway." She told him in tears referring to the fact that he said as much a bit earlier, she could speak as a sob choked its way out of her as she started crying out her hurt again

Devon turned to look at her, trying to work though his turmoil to really look at her. She wasn't making a lot of sense to him so he probed, trying to discern what she was thinking that made her speak such nonsense. He tried to give her privacy most of the time, but he was just exasperated. It didn't take long to understand, and it didn't make him happy. Anger against her mother bubbled to the surface again. He tried his best to keep a lid on it as he clumsily climbed into the back of his car. He sat down with a rather loud thump and reached over to Lark. He pulled her into his arms, sighing heavily. "I trust you. What I said came out horribly wrong." he said. "I'm sorry. And Lark." He lifted her chin, forcing her to look him in the eye. "You should know by now that I love you."

Lark almost cringed away from Devon before he took a hold of her when he landed clumsily next to her in the back seat and entered her mind she could tell he was angry and she was to emotional to see where his anger directed at she just assumed it was at her still but when he took her in his arms, she saw that was not the case, she hugged Devon tightly as he spoke to her she cried on his chest forgiving him his thoughtless comment. "I know you do and I Love you too, and I sorry so sorry about tonight." "So mother, what do we do now, we can't risk playing around with the mutts so close." The Prince said watching the wolf and the pure one in the car, while he was pacing the living room

Devon sighed. "I forgive you." he murmur, rubbing her back to help calm her. "What a mess. When we get home, we have a lot to sort out." he remarked dryly. "We can sort this out at home." He kissed the top of her head.
Alice/Tatiana, tapped her fingers impatiently on the table, deep in thought. If the mutt stuck around it could back breaking Lark so much harder. All the progress she had made would be lost. And she had planned everything so carefully. "He is MATED to her. Of all the rotten things to happen. We can't get rid of him short of killing him, or stealing Lark away. We need to tread carefully."
